Chapter 260
Chapter 260
The hospital room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Orla looked at Diana as if she didn't recognize her, letting out a bitter laugh.
"Your grandfather once said that your personality was nothing like your father's, but exactly like your mother's—you always had to get to the bottom of things. I didn't take it seriously back then, thinking how stubborn could a little girl be."
"But now, what your grandfather said has come true."
"I understand you want to investigate the truth and get revenge for your mother, but do you really have to tear this family apart? Your father is getting old, and how many years do I have left?"
Orla kept trying to persuade her.
But Diana couldn't hear a single word. She gently held Orla's hand, "Grandma, do you know? Since Mom left, you've been the most important person to me. I used to think that even if the whole world abandoned me, you wouldn't."
"But since you came back this time, first you asked to borrow my shares, then you sided with those people, and now you want me to give all this up. Do you think that's possible?"
"You've disappointed me so much, Grandma. I'm really disappointed."
Diana gently stroked Orla's hand as tears kept falling.
People are emotional creatures.
To Orla, Diana was just a granddaughter, less important than her grandsons or her son.
But to Diana, Orla was her only family.
For things to turn out this way, Diana felt truly disappointed and sad.
Seeing her granddaughter cry like this, Orla felt helpless too, "Then what do you want me to do?"
Diana stood up, "I will find out the truth. No matter what happens, no one can stop me."
Leaving the hospital, Diana went straight to the police station to find the Scott family father and son.
When they met again, Diana looked shocked, "What happened to you guys?"
The Scott family father and son looked haggard with heavy dark circles under their eyes, as if they hadn't slept in days.
Tate looked embarrassed, opened his mouth, but said nothing in the end.
Steven glared darkly, "You're so shameless. You clearly had someone rough us up in here, and now you're pretending you don't know anything. Do you think you can fool us?"
Diana suddenly understood, "I see. Well then, let's talk about whether you want a different way out. Remember, you only get one chance. If you don't take it, I'm leaving."
Although she didn't do it, she understood it must have been Michael's doing.
Everything he did was to make these two suffer, then solve this matter quickly.
Diana looked at Michael's handiwork with interest.
Diana laughed, then told them about what was happening outside, "You probably don't know, but it's quite lively out there now. Chase sold out Veda for money, and to some old man who likes to torture people. That old man is ruthless."
"And guess who Chase is going to sell next? The Scott family has several young women, you know."
"Of course, you're about to have no family left, because the Scott family is starting to sell off their assets and leave soon."
To prove she wasn't lying, Diana showed them evidence of the asset sales.
Steven only glanced at it, and his face grew darker.
Tate looked disbelieving, "How could that be? They wouldn't abandon us. They'll find a way to get us out."
"Can you not be so naive? Are you sure they'll save you? If they were going to save you, they wouldn't have let you get arrested in the first place. Okay, I've delivered my message. What you do is up to you."
Diana moved decisively, put away her things, and turned to leave.
"Wait, I'll talk."
Steven's firm voice rang out.
Diana smiled brightly, "That's more like it. If you hold out any longer, your family is going to be in big trouble."
Steven took a deep breath and was about to speak when Tate suddenly covered his mouth.
"Are you crazy? What happened back then had nothing to do with us. What do you have to say? Don't talk nonsense here. And you, stop trying to drive a wedge between us. I don't believe a word you say."
"Whether you believe it or not doesn't matter. What matters is whether your son believes it. Get out of the way, don't interfere with me."
With one look from Diana, someone immediately came forward to separate the two.
Ten minutes later.
Diana walked out of the police station in a daze.
The sun was bright and warm on her body.
But she couldn't feel any warmth at all. Instead, she felt cold all over, with chills creeping up from her feet and spreading through her whole body.
The people around her looked even more hateful.
So who could she still trust?
They were so heartless.
If Aria hadn't married into the family back then, the Garcia Group would have disappeared long ago.
But what did Aria get? Her assets were taken away, and in the end, she was killed.
Diana drove all the way to the cemetery in the suburbs.
Thunder rolled.
Fine rain fell like needles on the ground.
Diana was soaked through, kneeling in front of the grave, looking at the gentle face on the tombstone, and laughed coldly, "Mom, you told me not to carry hatred, but how dare they harm you like this? Don't worry, I'll send these people to hell to see you."
"No wait, Mom, you're so kind, you'll go to heaven. They're the ones going to hell. I'll make every one of them pay."
The person in the photo still smiled gently.
But Diana was already crying uncontrollably.
Suddenly the rain above her head stopped.
Diana looked up to see Michael standing beside her with a serious expression, holding an umbrella.
"I knew you'd be here."
Michael slowly crouched down and held her in his arms, "What happened? Tell me, I'll help you."
"I don't need it. I don't need anyone's help. I'll do it myself."
After crying, Diana's mind was exceptionally clear.
Diana rested her head against his chest, "I'm going to make every one of them pay."
Michael nodded firmly, "Okay, I'll help you."
On the way back, they were both very quiet.
Diana soon fell into a deep sleep. Michael looked at the red-eyed person in his arms and slowly clenched his hand into a fist.
Although he didn't know what Steven had said, he believed it couldn't be good news.
Perhaps Orla was involved too, otherwise she wouldn't be in such pain.
