Chapter 186

Chapter 186

Closing her eyes, Diana forced back her tears, "That's enough, stop asking. I just don't want you to go, okay?"

By the end, she was like a child throwing a tantrum over not getting candy.

Michael nodded repeatedly, "Of course, I'll listen to you. If you don't want me to go, I won't go."

He held the person in his arms, tightening his grip a bit more.

Looking at Diana's tear-filled eyes, his heart ached terribly.

He could tell Diana had been hurt again.

But it didn't matter—he was here for her.

The night stretched on, and at some point while crying, Diana found herself on the bed.

The two people on the bed held each other tightly and fell into a deep sleep.

Meanwhile.

When Orla returned home, Layla, Finn, and the others quickly gathered around her.

Finn couldn't wait to ask, "How did it go? Did Diana agree?"

"She should agree, right? Mother, you two have such a deep bond as grandmother and granddaughter. Even if she refuses others, she wouldn't refuse you, right?" Layla said ingratiatingly.

Orla snorted coldly, "What influence do I have? I only gave her the invitation for Michael. I didn't give her any others."

Finn panicked immediately, "How could you do that? You promised me!"

"Shut up! Where do you get the nerve to invite so many wealthy and noble families? Look at what you are."

Seeing Finn's frustrated look, Orla tapped her cane.

If he weren't her own son, she would have hit him with it already.

For their family to host a party and have Michael attend was already asking too much. What more did Finn want? He wanted to invite Michael's business partners—what right did he have?

Did he really think that by hosting a party and meeting a few people, he could become nobility?

Orla was furious. After sitting down, her gaze fell on Chase and Veda.

"You two listen carefully. Diana has decided she won't transfer the shares, so you'll have to figure it out yourselves."

"Grandma, you can't just abandon us!"

Chase and Veda spoke in unison.

They were truly panicking now.

If they didn't get the shares, their marriages would fall through.

The siblings both turned their eyes to Layla, full of pleading.

Layla's eyes darted around, and she sat down in front of Orla, "Don't panic, you two. Your grandmother cares about you most. How could she not help? Right, Mom? We've always trusted you."

The others nodded in agreement.

Orla laughed coldly, "Stop the nonsense. I won't force Diana. After the birthday party, I'll leave, and you can handle things yourselves."

Having said her piece, Orla went upstairs with her cane.

In the living room, everyone looked at each other with extremely unpleasant expressions.

"What do we do now? If I don't get those shares, Jake definitely won't marry me." Veda sat on the sofa, covering her face and crying.

Chase's expression was equally grim.

Layla was frustrated with them, "You two have the nerve to complain! If you weren't so useless, I wouldn't have to..."

Her chest heaved violently, but she couldn't just ignore them.

Since she had given birth to them, of course she had to help them.

Taking a deep breath, Layla looked at Finn's gloomy face, "We have no standing with Mother. This matter can only be left to you. You must talk to her properly and get her to help us."

"Never mind anything else—you know how hard it's been to run the company all these years, even if others don't. If this continues, we'll have been successful our whole lives only to end up destitute in our old age. How embarrassing would that be?"

Having shared a bed for so many years, she knew Finn cared most about saving face, so Layla deliberately used the word "embarrassing" to provoke him.

Sure enough, Finn's eyes became exceptionally determined, "Don't worry, leave this to me. I won't let the family fall into decline. I won't allow it."

Looking at the party guest list again, his eyes grew even more resolute.

Dawn broke.

Sunlight streamed in.

The moment Diana opened her eyes, she met a pair of smiling eyes.

Still groggy, she grinned, "How wonderful—opening my eyes to see a handsome man."

She reached out and touched Michael's handsome face, feeling even more satisfied.

"Such nice skin."

"Want to touch somewhere else? I'm all yours."

Michael's Adam's apple bobbed as he guided that small hand to his chest.

The warm, firm sensation instantly woke Diana up. She tried to pull her hand back, but Michael pressed it against his solid chest muscles.

"Let go quickly, the doctor will be here soon."

Looking at the sun outside, Diana picked up her phone and was startled, "Oh my god, it's already noon! Get up quickly."

Diana struggled to get up, but Michael held her waist and refused to let go, "Don't worry, I told the doctor they can't enter the room unless I say so."

"That won't work either—it's so embarrassing! Get up quickly."

Under Diana's insistence, Michael reluctantly let go.

In less than a minute, they had made the bed and gotten dressed.

Diana rushed out of the room, but the moment she opened the door and saw what was outside, her pupils contracted sharply, and she quickly ran back into the room and shut the door.

Outside the door, the doctor, the hospital director, and many nurses were all waiting.

And from the looks of it, they hadn't been waiting just a minute or two.

Diana leaned against the door, glaring fiercely at the person on the bed, "This is all your fault—you've embarrassed me."

"All my fault. So what do we do now?"

Michael walked over unhurriedly and held her in his arms, "Don't worry, I'm here. It's fine."

He opened the door and waved his hand, "My health is fine. No need for an examination today. Check again this afternoon."

One sentence dismissed everyone.

Diana peeked through the crack in the door at the now-empty hallway, her face still flushed red.

"This is all your fault. Now everyone knows we spent the night together."

"Couples should stay together anyway."

With a sweep of his long arm, Michael pulled her into his embrace, "Besides, we're together openly and honestly. What's there to be embarrassed about?"

Hearing the word "couple," Diana's eyes showed complex emotions. Thinking of his health condition, she didn't argue.
