Chapter 202

Chapter 202

"Let me tell you something. You're my little sister, and you'll always be my little sister. No matter when, no matter where, you'll always be beneath me."

After making a scene all morning, this was really what Veda wanted to say. She could never let herself be looked down upon by Sophia - she just wanted to tell Sophia this straight up.

Water dripped down Sophia's face, but she calmly pulled out a tissue and casually wiped her face.

Just then, James came rushing up from downstairs and caught Veda's crazy outburst.

James's face filled with anger as he strode forward and grabbed Veda's offending hand.

"Veda, what are you doing?" James demanded coldly.

Hearing that icy voice, Veda looked up in shock - she never expected James to be here.

If she'd known James was here, she definitely wouldn't have gone after Sophia like that.

"Mr. Smith, what are you doing here?"

James let out a cold snort.

"This company isn't yours - why can't I be here? Veda, I really didn't expect this. You seem so gentle and weak on the outside, but you're actually so vicious inside. They really weren't kidding about women being the most poisonous."

Hearing this, Veda looked completely shocked. How could James think of her as such a terrible person?

She quickly tried to explain.

"Mr. Smith, you've got it wrong. It's not what you just saw."

James turned around and saw Sophia's face covered in water. What could Veda possibly argue about?

"I saw you with my own eyes throw water in Sophia's face. What else is there to explain?"

Veda panicked immediately. James had always been especially protective of Sophia before, always standing up for her.

Now that Sophia was his wife, and he'd seen her throw water all over Sophia's face with his own eyes, James definitely wasn't going to let this go.

"Mr. Smith, this really isn't what you think."

James had no patience to listen to Veda's explanations right now.

He turned around and gently picked up a tissue, tenderly wiping the water from Sophia's face.

"Are you okay?"

Sophia shook her head.

"I'm fine."

Then James's expression darkened, and he pulled out his phone to call Hayden. Seeing this, Veda was scared out of her mind.

"Mr. Smith, can you please let me explain? It's really not what you think - please don't call my father!"

This morning she'd just wanted to argue with Sophia and blow off some steam. After all, she and Sophia arguing was nothing new.

But she never expected that this time, James would catch them.

Hayden had already told Veda not to go against Sophia anymore, since Hayden's goal now was to get on Sophia's good side. And now Veda had gone and disobeyed him.

If James told Hayden about this, Hayden definitely wouldn't let Veda off the hook.

Veda's face went pale. She reached out to stop James from making the call, but as soon as her hand went out, James turned and glared at her furiously.

Veda jumped in fright and quickly pulled her hand back.

As soon as the call connected, James's expression was calm, but his tone was full of displeasure.

"Mr. Smith! How do you have time to call me today? Is there something you need me to help with?"

James never called Hayden normally. Even when Hayden contacted James about work matters, James might not even answer.

So now Hayden felt honored. He thought James was calling because he needed him to handle something for the wedding.

But James said coldly:

"Hayden, I'm at your company right now. Get over here and control your daughter."

With that, James hung up.

Hayden was stunned. He didn't know what had happened, but he knew for sure that James was angry.

He rushed over to the employee work area and saw James standing there with a dark expression, holding onto Veda, whose face was pale.

Hayden immediately knew - that brainless Veda must have offended James again.

He hurried over with a fawning expression.

"What's going on? Mr. Smith, what happened?"

James turned around with a cold expression and said directly: "Hayden, look at what your wonderful daughter did. She threw an entire cup of water in Sophia's face. How could you raise such a classless daughter?"

Being scolded by James like this, Hayden felt even more embarrassed, because he knew exactly what kind of person Veda was.

"Mr. Smith, I'm so sorry. Veda's been spoiled and I'm always busy with work, so I haven't disciplined her properly. But Mr. Smith, don't worry - I guarantee this will never happen again."

Veda already felt wronged, and now her own father was here, not taking her side but siding with James instead. She felt especially hurt.

Her eyes reddened and she stamped her feet in frustration.

"Dad, what are you saying? This isn't my fault at all. Sophia came to the company and deliberately made me angry."

Sophia, who was standing to the side wiping water off her face and clothes with tissues, was shocked to hear this.

After all, when it happened, there were plenty of coworkers around who saw everything. And now Veda had the nerve to turn it around on her.

"Veda, are you sick or something? What actually happened - all these coworkers around us saw it. I just came back to the company to get some files. You were clearly the one looking for trouble."

Veda's face went pale. She wanted to explain more, but James didn't give her the chance and cut her off.

"Hayden, since neither of us were at the scene, why don't we ask these other employees around us? You're their CEO - they certainly won't lie to you."

Hayden wanted to protect Veda, but right now he didn't dare offend James. Since James had spoken, he could only comply.

He put on a serious expression, turned to the other employees and said loudly: "Who saw what happened here just now?"
