Chapter 158
There was still no response from the master bedroom.
Martin checked his watch. It was already nine o'clock. He couldn't wait any longer.
If he kept waiting, the pregnancy meal would get cold, and it wouldn't taste good once it cooled down.
With that thought, Martin's fingers landed on the door handle.
To his surprise, the bedroom door wasn't locked!
With a gentle twist, the door pushed open.
After Martin entered, he glanced at the bed—there was no one on it at all!
He scanned the room, still no one!
Martin's eyelid twitched as he pulled open the closet door.
The suitcase was still in the closet, but the black backpack was gone, and her water bottle was missing too!
She left?
When did Victoria leave?
Martin felt a bit panicked and quickly pulled out his phone to call Victoria.
His number was still blocked!
Martin suppressed the shock and anger in his heart and sent Victoria a message, "Where did you go?"
Since last night, she hadn't replied to any of his messages.
Just how much did she hate him to keep ignoring his messages like this?
Martin left the suite and took the elevator down to the front desk.
He borrowed the public phone from the front desk and dialed Victoria's number.
"Hello, the number you have dialed is switched off."
Victoria had turned off her phone!
How dare she!
Martin remembered the last time she went to the hospital to secretly get an abortion—when he called, and she didn't answer, when he texted, and she didn't reply, he had felt this same worry and panic.
He forced himself to calm down and asked the front desk, "Did you see my wife go out?"
The uniformed receptionist looked at Martin with confusion, "You mean the Miss who's staying with you?"
He nodded, "That's right."
The front desk thought for a moment and said, "She left around six this morning. I had just come in for my shift and saw her take a taxi. But I don't know where exactly she went. Don't you know where your wife went?"
"Thank you."
Martin thanked her and walked out of the hotel entrance.
So Victoria had left!
She went out after six in the morning!
Martin thought about how he brought her on this trip, and she had been unwilling the whole time, even complaining to him, "If you want to travel, you can go find Mia. Why are you dragging me along?"
So all along, not replying to messages, not answering calls—it was because she wanted to secretly run away!
Martin's first thought was that she had returned to Emerald City, because she had no friends, and Hayden was in Emerald City—someone she cared about!
He had to get back quickly!
Martin pulled out his phone and called Brian, "Drop everything you're doing and arrange for the private jet to pick me up!"
"Mr. Collins, aren't you traveling with Mrs. Collins in Rainbow Town?"
"Just do what I tell you. Why so many questions? Oh, and go check the Gonzalez Villa and my apartment to see if Victoria is there."
Hearing this, Brian understood—Victoria had run back.
Brian hung up respectfully, "Yes, Mr. Collins, I'll handle it right away."
Brian had thought that this trip would help Victoria and Martin resolve their conflicts.
He didn't expect the conflicts to get even worse!
So bad that Victoria ran back on her own!
Martin thought about how he had put aside his work for Victoria's happiness, how he had patiently accompanied her here to relax, only to be completely ignored by her!
The fury in his heart burned wildly.
How dare she treat him like this?
Had he been too indulgent with her?
Had he been too good to Victoria?
Martin punched a withered tree trunk. His hand was scratched by the bark, and a sharp pain immediately surged through him.
Two hours later.
The private jet landed in front of Martin.
Brian got off the plane and saw the wound on Martin's palm, his brow furrowing.
Fortunately, there was a medical kit on the plane.
Brian had studied medicine before and knew a bit about bandaging.
Brian observed his expression and asked tentatively, "Mr. Collins, did you and Mrs. Collins have another fight?"
Martin glanced at him, his eyes full of menace, and instead of answering, asked, "Did Victoria go back?"
Brian said, "There's no one at the Gonzalez Villa. But we haven't heard back from your apartment yet. I had Kaida go check, but Kaida hasn't messaged me yet."
Martin's eyes grew even colder.
Just as they were about to take off.
The phone in Martin's suit pocket suddenly rang.
Brian said excitedly, "Mr. Collins, Mrs. Collins is calling!"
Martin's heart sank heavily. Was it really her?
Did she have the nerve to call him?
Did she run away and then get scared?
But when Martin pulled out his phone and saw the caller ID on the screen, his eyes grew even colder.
It wasn't Victoria!
It wasn't her!
It was Mia.
Although he didn't know why Mia was calling him, he felt guilty toward Mia deep down.
For not being able to keep his promise, for not being able to marry his benefactor.
Martin suppressed the anger in his heart, answered the call, his tone gentle, "Mia, what's wrong?"
"Martin, save me...Martin, save me..."
On the phone, Mia was crying.
Martin's expression changed dramatically. "Where are you?"
Mia tearfully gave her address, then the call was suddenly disconnected.
Martin told the pilot to fly to the location Mia had given.
Because that place wasn't a populated residential area.
It was just right for the plane to land.
But Brian had a different opinion, "Mr. Collins, I don't think you need to worry about Ms. Wilson. The person you should be concerned about is Mrs. Collins. If Mrs. Collins finds out you went to see her, she'll fight with you again. Why don't you go back first, and we can call the police?"
Martin's brow furrowed.
Brian pressed his lips together, "Ms. Wilson calling at this time is too much of a coincidence. Right after you were about to leave, something happens to her—this could very well be a show she staged herself."
Martin thought about Victoria's cold words to him, how she had ignored the date he arranged.
While Mia had given so much for him, even funding him with five million dollars.
Without Mia, he wouldn't be where he is today!
He had already broken his promise to marry her—he couldn't leave. If something really happened to Mia, he would feel guilty for the rest of his life!
"Go find Ms. Wilson!"
Brian tried hard to dissuade him, "Mr. Collins, please reconsider! Mrs. Collins is pregnant now and already prone to suspicion."
But Martin had a different view, "The innocent have nothing to fear. Besides, you're all with me—I have a clear conscience."
The plane slowly rose into the sky.
Martin watched as the houses and buildings on the ground gradually became smaller.
Although he was going to find Mia, his heart was worried about Victoria, and his mind was thinking of Victoria too.
Where had Victoria gone?
Had she returned to Emerald City?
More than ten minutes later.
The plane landed in front of a lake.
The grass was covered in blood.
Martin got off the plane and walked quickly forward.
He immediately saw Mia lying on the ground and hurried over.
Martin held Mia in his arms. The blood on her body had already stained her coat red—it was terrifying. Most horrifying of all, her face was covered with knife wounds, crisscrossing everywhere, with bone clearly visible!
