Chapter 189 Unexpectedly Capturing the Person Who Leaked the Secret Information

Harry stared at Hannah, unable to tell whether her words were true or false. He quickly became tangled in confusion.

He clenched his small fists, his face full of stubborn determination, then turned and went back to his room, writing down all the grievances in his heart.

The commercial's release also brought considerable attention to Julie and Leo. As soon as they arrived at kindergarten, several children immediately gathered around them.

"When I was watching TV yesterday, I spotted you two right away. I even told my mom and dad that you're my classmates."

"The commercial you two filmed was really good. Harry's was good too."

"No way, I think Harry's wasn't that great."

Annie immediately stepped forward, speaking with the seriousness of an adult. "Even though Harry's commercial came out first, it looked really stiff, without any sense of family warmth."

"It was like reciting lines. But you two looked very natural, and your mom is so beautiful."

Hearing Annie's praise, Julie and Leo couldn't help but beam with joy. "Of course! Our mom is the gentlest, most wonderful mom in the world."

The children gathered together, clearly delighted.

It wasn't until Sophie called them for lunch that they reluctantly dispersed.

Meanwhile.

Ever since the drug officially went on sale, Evelyn had been working late into the night every day, needing to organize respondent records and relevant physical data from the initial trial participants.

By late evening, aside from her and her assistant Kevin, the entire lab was essentially empty.

Having finally sorted through the last bit of data, Evelyn straightened her back, feeling utterly exhausted. "I'm done with everything on my end."

Kevin also stood up. The two exchanged glances. Though tired, they felt more joy than anything else.

Because after thorough investigation, they'd discovered their drug had extremely high stability and could be used by most people — far exceeding their expectations.

Evelyn glanced at the time and realized it was already ten at night. They'd been working overtime for so long that they hadn't even eaten dinner. "I didn't notice the time. It's already this late."

"Come have a late dinner with me. You've worked hard these past few days."

Kevin didn't refuse. After tidying up briefly, they left together.

The original office building was pitch black. Neither of them paid much attention, but just as they reached the archive room, faint sounds suddenly came from inside.

Both stopped almost simultaneously. Evelyn immediately realized — someone was in there, and it could very well be the person who'd been stealing data.

To avoid alerting them, the two quietly moved closer.

Just as they were about to get a closer look, footsteps sounded behind them, followed by a beam of light.

"Who's there?"

It was clearly the security guard Max's voice. Kevin immediately stood up. "It's us."

Seeing it was people from the research institute, Max relaxed and greeted them with a smile. "I thought everyone had already left. I heard a noise and thought we had a burglar."

Max's words made Kevin laugh as he teased him, "Didn't know you were so dedicated."

"We just finished working overtime and didn't realize all the lights on this floor were out. What happened?"

Only then did Max notice Evelyn beside them. He quickly explained, "The circuit breaker on this floor broke. I just went to fix it."

With that, Max flipped the breaker for the floor, and the previously dark surroundings instantly became brightly lit.

Evelyn and Kevin exchanged brief pleasantries with Max, who then left.

They'd originally planned to approach quietly and investigate, but now there was clearly no hiding it.

The two simply pushed open the archive room door and turned on the light, finding everything inside as usual. The desk wasn't messy, and there was no one hiding underneath.

Seeing this, both felt obviously surprised, though they maintained calm exteriors.

"These people really — they didn't even close the archive room door before leaving."

"They clearly know we just had a data leak recently, yet they're still so careless."

Kevin couldn't help complaining. Evelyn, however, smiled and shook her head. "Everyone's been too exhausted lately. They probably weren't paying attention. Besides, many people handle the data — the problem might not have originated here."

"It's getting late. I'll treat you to a late-night snack. We still have to work tomorrow."

With that, the two left the archive room chatting and laughing, closing the door behind them.

As they departed, the entire floor fell dark once more.

Before long, the archive room window slowly opened, and a figure climbed in through it.

The archive room was on the building's second floor — a separate room created by a middle partition.

In other words, besides the main door, the window on the side could also be used as an exit.

After confirming Evelyn and Kevin had gone, the person who'd returned began rummaging around brazenly.

Suddenly, the previously dark room was illuminated. The person inside looked utterly terrified and turned to see Evelyn and Kevin standing in the doorway.

"I knew you'd come back."

Evelyn stared at the person before her, her eyes gaining an edge of fierceness, her heart filled with disappointment.

Because this person was also a member of her research team — someone who'd been involved from start to finish. She never imagined the one betraying her would be from the research level.

"You discovered me long ago?"

The researcher looked incredulous, unable to figure out when he'd been exposed.

However, Evelyn no longer had any interest in wasting words with him. She directly had Kevin call the police and had him taken to the station.

Within moments, everyone had arrived at the police station.

Evelyn gave a statement about what had happened and requested to press charges.

She hadn't expected everything to proceed so smoothly.

"Do you think he's panicking right now? Will he tell them everything he knows?"

Kevin and Evelyn held bread in their hands, waiting quietly outside the interrogation room.

She believed it wouldn't be long before this researcher spilled everything he knew.

By then, she'd have evidence in hand to directly sue Skylark Pharmaceuticals for counterfeiting their drug.

Before Evelyn could respond, the closed door suddenly opened. A middle-aged man in a suit appeared before them.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I'm a pharmaceutical representative from Skylark Pharmaceuticals, and this is our lawyer. We're here to discuss the matter of the newly launched drug with you."

Evelyn looked him up and down. Seeing the trademark professional smile on his face, she knew he came with ill intent.
