Chapter 224: Who Would Turn Down Money?
Isabella had no intention of remarrying, much less of making Olivia feel uncomfortable about anything.
But since William had made such accusations, she felt she owed it to his suspicions to give him something real to worry about.
A slightly provocative smile curved Isabella's lips.
"We're getting divorced sooner or later. Who I choose to be with has nothing to do with you, does it?"
When William decided to be with Laura, Isabella hadn't objected once—she'd even repeatedly wished them well.
She'd endured their mockery time and again. And now William thought he had the right to interfere in Isabella's life?
Isabella lifted her chin, pulled Olivia toward the sports car with quiet dignity, and peeled out with a roar of the engine.
"Mommy, aren't we going straight home?" Olivia asked from her car seat, pressing her face curiously against the window as she watched the scenery fly by.
This wasn't the route home. Isabella was heading toward the suburbs.
"Mommy's starting her two-week vacation, so I've decided to spend some real quality time with you," Isabella said, one hand on the steering wheel, her eyes crinkling with warmth as she smiled at Olivia.
Olivia nearly bounced out of her seat with excitement, only to be restrained by her seatbelt. Her eyes sparkled as she chattered non-stop about the funny things that had happened at school that day.
Isabella's expression was full of gentle indulgence as she listened patiently, responding to each story.
Within just a few days, the suburban training facility had been completely transformed.
With Snake Racing disbanded and its Aetheria branch dissolved, Romantic Racing had relocated entirely to the country and purchased the training grounds outright.
It was now their private facility.
Standing at the starting line of the sprawling track, Joseph spread his arms wide. "We'll never have to worry about fighting for track time again."
This was Olivia's first time at the starting line. Everything fascinated her—she touched this, examined that.
"Mommy, I want to try racing too. Can kids really not race?"
Isabella was about to shake her head when Joseph cut in.
"I knew you'd want to try! I had Samantha set aside a special area just for you—we built a go-kart track. You can't drive a real race car yet, but go-karts are pretty fun too, right?"
Olivia let out a delighted cheer and immediately followed Joseph to the go-kart area.
When Isabella saw it, even she was stunned. It wasn't just "a small area."
The go-kart track ran the entire length of the main racing circuit. Apart from the additional safety features installed along the sides, it looked virtually identical to the professional track.
"Did you buy another plot of land?" Isabella asked.
Samantha covered her mouth as she laughed. "You obviously don't come here often. The old facility wasn't just for professional racers—tourists could rent equipment and try the track too. This used to be the rental shop and concession area."
After they'd demolished those buildings, they'd been surprised to discover how much open space remained—perfect for a go-kart circuit.
"I've been thinking—we bought such a huge training facility, shouldn't we figure out how to generate revenue from it? Now we can. The go-kart track won't just be for Olivia. We can open it to the public and turn a profit."
Samantha was a natural business mind. She'd worked for a multinational corporation before joining the racing team.
"Where's Zack? I'm worried about him. His condition is so serious—without doctors he's familiar with, can he really get proper treatment?"
Samantha sighed. "Honestly, at this stage, the world's top specialists can't do much more than Seaside City's doctors. The treatment plan is conservative care plus ongoing physical therapy."
"During the day when we're training, Zack goes to the Seaside City Rehabilitation Center. I pick him up in the evening."
"That must be exhausting," Isabella said, studying Samantha. "Why don't we take turns? I can help share the load."
Samantha laughed softly, patting Isabella's shoulder. "It's really not a burden. You know how I feel about Zack."
"He'd promised me that after we won Canvia, he'd propose with the championship trophy. But now he's afraid of being a burden to me. He won't even let himself be with me anymore."
Their feelings for each other weren't new—they'd been building for years. It was a shame they hadn't gotten together earlier. Now, with circumstances like this, it seemed even less likely.
Joseph returned with Olivia, both of them drenched in sweat.
Just as he caught the tail end of Samantha's comment about relationships, Joseph suddenly remembered Isabella still hadn't divorced William.
"Isabella, forget giving other people advice. You and William still aren't divorced. Have you figured out what you're going to do about that?"
Isabella opened her mouth to explain, but out of the corner of her eye she spotted two figures—one tall, one small—approaching the entrance.
How irritating. William was like a ghost that wouldn't leave her alone. He'd actually followed her all the way to the training facility.
"This facility has been purchased by us. It's now Romantic Racing's private track. No unauthorized visitors allowed!" Joseph warned, his expression hostile.
Nathan clung to William's hand, his eyes darting nervously toward Isabella, as if afraid she might throw them out.
"I'm here to discuss an investment opportunity," William said.
With Snake Racing dissolved, the money William had invested had barely been spent before being returned to him. But Summit Holdings Corporation still intended to enter the racing industry.
The best option domestically was obviously the newly established Aetheria branch of Romantic Racing.
Isabella was with Aetheria. Joseph and Samantha had come along. Essentially, Romantic Racing's entire core team had relocated here. In upcoming major championships and other events, even if the team didn't win, a top-three finish would be easy.
Investing in them was an ideal business move. William was more than willing to spend the money.
"Take your money and get lost. Who the hell needs your investment?" Joseph's eyes blazed. He looked ready to physically throw William out.
In his opinion, the man was delusional.
Isabella had made herself crystal clear. Yet William still had the audacity to keep showing up.
Samantha restrained the impulsive Joseph. "Our team already has Mr. Spencer's investment. We're not short on funds."
"Can you really have too much money?" William's invitation was earnest.
"Fair point. Who'd turn down money? But I need to discuss it with the team first."
With Samantha's response, William graciously stepped aside with Nathan.
"Isabella, it's mainly up to you. If you're uncomfortable with this, we can refuse the investment," Samantha said.
Isabella glanced at William, then made her decision with a determined bite of her lip.
"Take it. Why wouldn't we?"
