Chapter 156: False Accusations
The moment Nathan saw what was happening in the hospital room, his expression turned furious.
This wasn't the first time he'd encountered this man.
During that incident when he got hurt, this same guy had stood by his mother's side, encouraging her to harm him!
Nathan's guard shot up instantly, his eyes filling with hostility as he glared at Richard.
Isabella had just taken a bite of an apple when the hospital room door burst open, and Nathan stormed in.
The scene was quite dramatic. Isabella watched with complete composure, observing the enraged Nathan as if he were a stranger.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"If I hadn't come, I never would have discovered what kind of person you really are! You've been deceiving both Dad and me this whole time!"
Nathan spoke like an adult, playing the role of some righteous crusader, as if he were defending William's honor.
Isabella's gaze swept toward the doorway, and sure enough, she spotted Laura lurking there.
She immediately understood what was happening.
"I thought you insisted on divorcing Dad because of Nathan showing up, but it turns out you have no shame at all! You divorced Dad just so you could be with another man!"
Nathan stood with one hand on his hip, pointing at Richard with the other, his childish voice delivering accusations far beyond his years.
Having spent time around Laura, Isabella wasn't surprised he'd turned into this kind of kid.
Isabella's expression remained blank as she ordered him out: "Leave."
Already exhausted from collapsing due to overwork, Isabella had no patience for Nathan's tirade.
But Nathan thought he'd hit a nerve, and his expression grew even more smug.
"No wonder Dad doesn't want you anymore! You acted like Dad was the one who did something wrong, but it turns out you're the one having an affair!"
The thought that this rebellious child was actually her biological son sent a sharp pain through Isabella's chest.
Her expression grew even colder. "I said get out!"
"I'm going to tell Dad everything that happened today! You'll never be allowed back home again—Dad and I will never forgive you!" Nathan's tone turned vicious.
Isabella was so angry she actually laughed.
Of course, only Olivia truly understood her situation. Nathan apparently still thought Isabella cared about William's forgiveness.
Too bad for him—she couldn't care less about his forgiveness.
"Say whatever you want. You can call him right now and tell him."
Isabella acted completely indifferent, even urging Nathan to hurry up and inform William.
Nathan's eyes widened in shock.
He'd intended to provoke Isabella into apologizing, never expecting this outcome.
He certainly hadn't expected Isabella to be so stubborn!
Realizing what had happened, Nathan flew into a rage. With a cold snort, he whirled around and stormed out.
This time, he didn't even acknowledge Laura, running off on his own until he was far down the hallway.
"Nathan, don't be upset. What kind of life your mother chooses to live and who she wants to be with is her freedom. No one has the right to interfere."
Laura offered fake comfort from the sidelines, though she was actually trying to provoke him further.
Nathan's mood grew even more agitated after hearing this, and when he looked up at Laura, his expression had changed.
"I don't want anyone to know that Mom left Dad and me for another man! It's so embarrassing!" Nathan loudly protested.
Laura hugged Nathan, her expression appearing sympathetic.
"I'm telling Dad about this right now!"
After a moment, Nathan made his decision quickly.
Following behind him and watching Nathan run all the way back to the room, Laura felt her mood had never been better.
This time, she was curious to see exactly how Isabella planned to turn this situation around.
She'd made such a huge mistake, and Nathan had caught her in the act—what right did she have to stay by William's side now?
Sitting on the hospital bed with his smartwatch, Nathan solemnly dialed William's number.
The call was first answered by a secretary, then transferred to William.
"Dad, are you busy right now?" Nathan asked with unprecedented maturity, checking before speaking.
William made an affirmative sound. "I'm in the middle of an acquisition meeting. Unless it's urgent, I'll call you back later."
Just as the call was about to end, Nathan said nervously:
"Dad, don't hang up! I have something really important to tell you, and no one else can be around."
Though he was just a child, he understood that the fewer people who knew about this, the better. He directed William to find a private corner.
"Can you talk now?" William's brow furrowed slightly.
Nathan nodded solemnly. "Dad, you have to promise me that after I tell you this, you'll stay calm and not get angry over something so unimportant!"
William agreed, not thinking Nathan could possibly have anything major to report.
Only then did Nathan speak: "Today, Laura and I discovered that Mom is in the hospital! And the person taking care of her is that guy we met before."
"He was peeling apples for Mom and even hand-feeding them to her."
Nathan told William everything he'd witnessed, embellishing the details.
"Dad, Mom's having an affair! I support you two splitting up for good—don't ever let Mom come back!"
Nathan rambled on while William's expression grew increasingly dark on the other end of the line.
Nathan didn't know who was caring for Isabella, but William had already guessed.
Who else could it be besides Richard?
"Alright, just focus on recovering in the hospital. Don't worry about such trivial matters."
After tersely giving this instruction, William hung up directly.
Nathan felt triumphant, while Isabella, under Richard's care, rested peacefully in the hospital.
Within just two days, all her vital signs had returned to normal.
Before her discharge, Richard came specifically to pick up Isabella and help her pack up her things from the room.
While organizing her belongings, Richard said, "I have a very important friend who's been developing his career abroad for years—he returned to the country today."
"He's always admired you greatly. After learning you joined Infinity Ventures Corporation, he's been wanting to meet you. He asked me to help arrange an introduction."
"Of course, if you don't want to go, that's perfectly fine."
Isabella smiled gently. "That's alright, I'd be happy to meet him."
