Chapter 16 I can help you regain everything
Molly’s POV
The lawyer looked familiar, but I couldn't place where I had seen him before. I was relieved when Gianni intervened before he could extend his hand for a shake.
From Gianni's conversation with his secretary, I gathered that he was busy but stayed until he was summoned.
Being left alone with Charlie, the divorce lawyer, made me uneasy, but since I was in Gianni's office, I felt secure.
"Molly, Molly, I handled Christopher's divorce," he said as soon as Gianni reluctantly left.
My heart skipped a beat. Christopher was my former producer, and it saddened me that his wife had believed the false news.
"It shouldn't have come to that. The news was false," I clarified, but he just smirked.
"It doesn't matter. You are still very stunning." I didn't appreciate the way he looked at me, so I steered the conversation back to the divorce documents.
The office was so vast and the distance between us was good.
"Can we focus on the divorce documents?" I didn't see his words as a compliment. They felt more like flirtation, as he seemed more interested in me than the document in front of him.
"It seems to me that life hasn't been kind to you. Wesley declared his assets, and he has nothing."
Gianni had informed me of this before, but meeting a divorce lawyer gave me a glimmer of hope that didn't feel strong enough to hold onto at the moment.
"That's not true," I said, feeling frustrated at how emotional I sounded.
"Well, your words won't hold much weight in a written agreement, but I can make you an offer."
He smiled smugly and walked around the chair I was sitting on. His fingers ran through my long hair, making me cringe, so I pushed him away.
“Don’t touch me.”
There was no remorse in his eyes as he spoke accusingly to me.
“If I didn’t know you back then, I would have thought you were some respectable woman.”
Did he just insult me? My hands moved before I could stop them, and I slapped him hard on the face when he leaned in. I was so disgusted that I wanted to scream, but he was rather enraged.
“You bitch. I can help you regain everything, but you have to be mine,” he said forcefully. I stared him in the eyes, strangely not afraid.
This was why I was grateful to Gianni, knowing he would stand up for me at a time like this.
“I don't need you. Why don't you tell Giovanni this?" His glare made me uncomfortable, and I scanned the room for a tool in case he tried anything.
"He doesn't have to know, Molly," he said, his voice softening. Irritated by his disrespect, I yelled, "You're mad. Leave me alone."
Offended, he headed to the door, but I reminded him, "Your briefcase. You left it behind."
He turned back, his eyes glinting with a devilish intent. "I wasn't leaving, just adjusting my pants."
I averted my eyes when I noticed his manhood bulging in his pants.
Suddenly, he was on his knees in front of me, his hand pressing against my thighs, holding me in place.
A tear escaped my eye, as I tried to free myself with no success. "You're hurting me," I whispered, feeling my knees weaken under his force.
"I've always wanted you," he confessed, his voice raspy but before I could react, a force sent him crashing to the ground, blood pooling around his head.
Gianni delivered a punch, and I feared for Charlie's life. If he died, then Gianni would be in trouble and I didn’t think that was worth it.
"Gianni, his death wouldn't be worth it," I pleaded, meeting his angry gaze. His hand froze in the air, and he stood up, leaving the man on the floor.
Something felt off as Gianni's expression softened. Get out this minute," he ordered.
Charlie scurried out of the office, and Gianni appeared composed, his attire clean as if nothing had happened.
His attention shifted to me after typing something on his phone. I had a feeling it had to do with Charlie but didn't have the courage to ask directly.
"Just sign the divorce papers," he insisted, his voice commanding, as if he wouldn't accept a refusal. I mustered the courage to inquire,
"Why don't you explain how you plan to help me regain everything?"
He responded seriously, his gaze intimidating. "I won't disclose that until you sign, but what's holding you back? Do you still want him?"
The pain in his eyes puzzled me, and I felt bitter that he perceived me in that light.
"Never. But I want him to suffer."
Glancing at the door, he stood up and walked towards it, as he spoke, I wondered why he was leaving in the middle of a conversation but things were not as I thought them to be.
"Then sign, or I won't assist you." He opened the door, and Marie nearly stumbled in, reminding me of the time I overheard his conversation with Roger, but this felt more intense.
"What is the meaning of this?" Gianni questioned her, his voice icy, sending a shiver down my spine. Marie lost her composure, trembling like a fish out of water.
