Chapter 790 Wig

Chapter 790 Wig

"What do you mean by that?"

Maya curved her lips and took a sip of tea. "Every time Kimberly goes to the Watson Mansion to tutor Howard, Mrs. Watson makes her bring the child along. And I heard she really cares about this kid. Haven't you ever thought about it?"

How could Laura not have suspected? When Kimberly first came to her during her pregnancy, asking her to team up and scheme for a divorce, Laura really thought Kimberly had betrayed Vincent and gotten pregnant with someone else's child. But later, when she discovered that Amelia still cared so much about Kimberly and Caleb, Laura couldn't figure it out anymore.

Given Amelia's nature, why would she care so much about someone else's child?

At this thought, Laura's heart began to race with anxiety. "You mean..."

"You already know the answer in your heart. Otherwise, why would Mrs. Watson be so good to Kimberly? And so good to Caleb? Kimberly was the one who cheated during marriage and got pregnant with someone else's child. With Mrs. Watson's temper and nature, would she really accept that?" Maya said.

Laura's eyebrows shot up high, her eyes full of disbelief. Her body trembled involuntarily, her hands clutching tightly at the corners of her clothes, her lips quivering slightly, as if she had heard something impossible.

"Are you saying that Kimberly's child is Vincent's?"

Maya's lips curved into a meaningful smile. However, she neither denied nor confirmed it, instead saying, "I didn't say that. You're the one saying it."

At this moment, Laura had already accepted this as fact. She was like someone struck by lightning, her whole body shaking, the muscles in her face rigid. "You came to find me today just to tell me all this, right?"

"Hahaha, I already told you, this is just a chance meeting. Don't go making things up. Although I'm Kimberly's aunt, I'm a very reasonable person. Even though there are a lot of rumors about you out there, emotionally and logically, I think you're actually the victim here. After all, who could accept their husband having a child with someone else? And the husband's grandmother knows about it too. Aren't they all just playing you for a fool?"

Laura stood there in a daze for a moment. She recalled everything that had happened recently. Ever since Kimberly came to the Watson Mansion as a tutor, everyone's gossip had been about why Amelia cared so much about Caleb.

Many people said that if you didn't know better, you'd think this was Amelia's own grandson.

At first, Laura didn't take it seriously because she had always believed this was the child Kimberly had with Leonard, and Amelia only cared about Caleb because she didn't have a grandson of her own.

But thinking about it now, everything seemed so suspicious. Why would Amelia care so much about a child who had no blood relation to her?

And especially toward Vincent's ex-wife.

At this moment, Laura's entire body was enveloped by an icy fear. Fine beads of cold sweat appeared on her forehead, and her chest felt as heavy as if pressed down by a weight.

Her body trembled, all her muscles shaking uncontrollably.

Seeing Laura like this, Maya's lips curved into a meaningful smile. She knew she had achieved her goal.

So she continued, "Ms. Davis, don't be too upset. At least now you know the truth. At least it's much better than being kept in the dark."

Laura's lips were dry, her tongue seeming to stick to the roof of her mouth, unable to speak.

At this moment, she was thinking that she could never have children in her lifetime. So if Vincent and Kimberly really had a child of their own, that meant Vincent would never truly belong to her.

He and Kimberly would be entangled with each other for the rest of their lives.

"Do you have proof?" Laura suddenly asked.

Hearing this, Maya almost laughed. She said with a half-smile, "I thought someone like you wouldn't care about evidence. I didn't expect you to ask me for proof now. Think back on Mrs. Watson's attitude toward Kimberly yourself. Do you think you still need any evidence?"

Taking a breath, she had actually calmed down now. Her gaze was deep as she looked at Maya, as if trying to see through to her heart.

"I've remembered everything you said," Laura said softly, her voice hoarse but with a trace of calm. "If all this is true, then I'll make my decision."

Her tone was emotionless, but it carried a subtle sense of pressure that made Maya's heart tighten slightly.

But she quickly composed herself and smiled slightly. "Of course. I don't mean anything else by it. I just hope you can understand that sometimes, although the truth is cruel, it's still better than living in fantasy for the rest of your life."

Just when Maya thought Laura would back down like those other women who had climbed up for money, the next second Laura suddenly walked up to her and slapped her across the face.

The clear sound of the slap echoed through the quiet VIP room.

Maya was stunned for a few seconds, then felt the pain on her face. She covered her cheek and looked at Laura in disbelief, then with anger. "How dare you hit me!"

Laura had now reverted to her former street thug aura. Her face was full of viciousness. "Did you think you were so great? Talking down to me like that? Or did you think I'd back down because of a child? Who gave you the nerve?"

Maya's face contorted, the muscles in her face twitching.

Although Laura wasn't easy to mess with, Maya wasn't either.

She stood up and decisively slapped Laura back. Laura was stunned for a moment, then directly grabbed Maya's hair and threw her hard onto the sofa, climbing on top of her.

"Bitch! You think I'm easy to bully!"

Laura hit Maya's face again and again, pulling at her scalp. This made Maya feel her scalp burning with pain. She felt like a lot of her hair had been pulled out.

Maya screamed and wildly grabbed at Laura's hair. Who would have thought that with just a light pull, the hair came off, and the Laura before her eyes instantly became bald.

Laura screamed. She got up from Maya's body, fearfully covering her head with both hands, completely panicked.

Meanwhile, Maya held Laura's wig in her hand, completely stunned.

She hadn't expected that Laura was wearing a wig.

"You... why are you wearing a wig?"

Laura screamed with a hoarse voice, her roar echoing through the sky like a violent storm, sending chills down one's spine.

Originally, Maya wasn't afraid of Laura in any state, but seeing her current crazed condition, she actually felt a bit scared.
