Chapter 148 Have Some Shame, Will You

"Damn it!" Zachary's hair was practically standing on end.

His chubby face trembled as he pointed at Benedict's nose. "Are you trying to mess with Greenland Realty Group on purpose? I get it now. You're helping a criminal woman get land. Think you can pull it off? Or maybe..."

Zachary's thoughts took a nasty turn. "Maybe you've got a thing for Daisy? Should I go tell your wife about it?"

Benedict replied calmly, "Don't use your filthy mind to judge the friendship between Ms. Palmer and me. The land you can't get, I probably can. That piece of land, at most, fifty million dollars. Believe it?"

"Believe what? Don't think that just because you're close with Francis, you can get anything from the Torres family. If you offer Claire less than a hundred million dollars, she'll kill you."

"What if I get it? Will Greenland Newport admit defeat and pull out of Newport?"

"Admit defeat? No way!"

Benedict nodded, "Looks like you can't afford to bet. Forget it, pretend I didn't say anything. By the way, where's Chloe? Why isn't she with you today?"

"She ran off! Damn it!"

Zachary was furious. He hadn't even gotten his hands on Chloe, and she had disappeared.

"You can't even keep a woman. You're really something."

"Enough! I'm done talking to you!"

Zachary stormed off, his sleeves flapping.

Bastard, you'll be finished soon.

I'll watch as you get beaten to a pulp.

This was, of course, a promise from an overseas gang to Zachary.

Benedict smirked and knocked on Claire's office door.

"Come in!" Claire's voice was slightly androgynous, magnetic.

Benedict pushed the door open and walked in.

The interior was lavishly decorated, exuding grandeur.

It was completely out of place with the building's ordinary exterior.

Claire, twenty-nine, single.

Light makeup, delicate features, smooth skin.

Adorned in gold and silver, a mink coat with a white fox collar.

She was the epitome of a wealthy, mature woman.

Claire sat behind a luxurious desk, looking at her computer.

When she looked up, her face suddenly flushed, then turned icy cold.

Under the mink coat, a fiery red undershirt.

"Who do we have here? A spoiled brat, all dressed up, coming to see me? If you have nothing to say, get out!"

Claire had no idea Ralph's villa had been lost to Benedict.

Ralph and his half-sister Claire had always had a strained relationship.

They ignored each other.

Ralph was too embarrassed to admit he had lost to Benedict.

But Claire had known Benedict as a troublemaker for years.

Right after college, she taught music at a high school for a year.

Coincidentally, she was Benedict's music teacher.

Benedict in high school was a troublemaker, always fighting.

He even bet with classmates on what color Claire's undershirt was...

At the time, Benedict didn't know the Torres family's background. He feared nothing and dared to test boundaries.

He used a mirror with his foot to check.

The result was shocking.

Benedict was startled, and the mirror fell to the ground.

Claire discovered it, scolded him harshly, and called the school security to beat him up.

Eventually, Benedict was expelled.

Officially, it was said he dropped out.

This was one of Benedict's dark histories.

Benedict smiled, "Ms. Torres, it's been years, hasn't it? You still look so young and beautiful."

Claire was taken aback, "Are you out of your mind? You still use 'Ms.'?"

"Ms. Torres, people change. No matter what, as your student, I still respect you. I want to change myself, become better."

His tone was gentle. His attitude sincere.

Claire looked like she had seen a ghost. "Scoundrel, spoiled brat, you sure can talk now. I've heard you've lost badly to Ralph and the others over the years. You're useless! Say what you need to say, or get out! I don't want to see you for another second!"

Benedict chuckled softly and sat down on the guest sofa. He crossed his legs, "Ms. Torres, don't be so cold! I'm here to talk business."

"Get out! You're so poor now, and you think you can talk business with me? If you don't leave, I'll call security!"

Claire hated Benedict, picking up the phone.

But Benedict said coolly, "Ms. Torres, that year in music class, for some reason, you didn't..."

"Shut up!" Claire slammed the desk, her face red with anger. This was also her dark history.

Benedict ignored her, "Call security, and I'll spill everything. I'll tell our classmates, post it on Twitter. Anyway, in your eyes, I'm just a scoundrel, a thug, a pauper."

"Bastard! Bastard! You're a bastard!" Claire was trembling with rage. She was completely at Benedict's mercy.

Benedict smiled, lit a cigarette, "Alright, Ms. Torres, don't be mad. Let's talk calmly. I promise, I'll keep that year in my head and never speak of it."

"You're a bastard!" Claire's face was red, helpless, "What do you want to talk about?"

Benedict was shameless, and Claire had no way to deal with him.

"It's like this. Daisy from Golden Bridge Realty is my friend. She wants that piece of land you have, but your price is too high."

"What do you want?" Claire sensed trouble.

Benedict smiled, "As far as I know, Greenland Newport also wants it, but you refused. Golden Bridge Realty is a new company and needs support. Ms. Torres, last year your investment project got a two hundred million dollar government subsidy, and you made one hundred ninety million dollars. That's quite a lot. Now, fifty million dollars, fifty million dollars is still money, right?"

Claire's chest heaved with anger, "Bastard, have some decency! I've never seen someone like you..."

Benedict raised his hand, "Ms. Torres, don't get excited. I swear, if you agree, I'll never speak of what I saw in high school. Reputation and honor are important, right?"

"Shut up! Shut up!" Claire was about to explode, hitting the desk and covering her ears, almost in tears.

Benedict nodded, stayed silent, smoked, and looked out the window.

After a while, Claire calmed down. Her face was gloomy, "Why aren't you talking?"

"Ms. Torres told me to shut up. I wouldn't dare disobey."

"Damn it, now you listen? You're driving me crazy!" Claire was exasperated but had to give in, "What you said, is it true?"

Benedict patted his chest, "I swear, I'll keep my word."

"I'll trust you this once! If you spread it, I'll give up my reputation and kill you and your family!" Claire pointed at Benedict, furious, "Get out! Tell Daisy to come sign the contract anytime!"

Benedict spread his fingers, "Just this amount?"

"Yes! Get out!"

Claire was shouting, her heart bleeding. She didn't want to see Benedict for another second.
