Chapter 140 Bella's Little Mood
Chapter 140 Bella's Little Mood
Although Bella and Albert didn't know what the two men had talked about, they were just relieved that a fight hadn't broken out.
Seeing Benedict turn around and head back to the hotel restaurant, they quickly followed suit.
However, David called out to Benedict in a low voice.
Benedict turned and asked, "What now?"
"The three-year agreement is set, but if you dare to mistreat Bella during these three years, I won't be so polite!"
Benedict sized him up, then glanced at the four burly men standing behind David.
He sneered, "If I mistreat her, the law will deal with me. Are you the law?"
"I..."
"And when you refer to my wife, use a respectful title. It shows formality and courtesy, not some misplaced intimacy."
"You..."
Benedict turned and walked away without looking back.
David was left speechless for a moment, then snorted, thinking to himself: I hope your competitive skills are as sharp as your tongue!
David got into his car and left.
Benedict calmly returned to the restaurant.
Everyone who had been watching was a bit disappointed.
They had expected the two men to come to blows.
But here was Benedict, returning unscathed, as if nothing had happened.
He sat down and said, "Bella, you guys eat so slowly. There were three waffles before, and there are still three; four sandwiches, and still four."
He smiled, understanding that they hadn't eaten because they had been secretly following him.
Albert felt a bit awkward, unsure how to lie.
But Bella was quick-witted, "Oh, we were waiting for you! You worked hard all morning; we should eat together."
"Thanks for waiting. Alright, let's eat, then head home. Susie hasn't seen you in a while and misses you."
Albert felt a bit uncomfortable.
After all, it was supposed to be breakfast for the couple.
Being the third wheel was a bit awkward.
However, Benedict ate elegantly, not talking much, just enjoying his breakfast, which made Albert feel a bit better.
Bella, too, found the quiet breakfast enjoyable.
Albert, feeling a bit out of place, quickly finished his food and said he would go pack his bags.
Benedict handed him the room key, asking him to bring down Bella's luggage as well.
Albert happily agreed.
At that moment, he truly gave up on pursuing Bella.
Being a helper for Benedict and Bella was fine by him.
After all, Benedict was just too formidable.
Albert couldn't compete.
Albert was actually a good guy.
He knew his limits.
And he was loyal!
Benedict and Bella quietly enjoyed their breakfast.
The aroma of the food still filled the air.
Bella was very satisfied; Benedict's cooking was excellent.
People around them were envious.
Some were eating while complaining or chatting noisily.
But the couple remained quiet.
Some people wondered what was going on with them—were they having a cold war, or had they gone mute?
With so many people around, Bella didn't want to ask anything.
After breakfast, the two left for the parking lot.
On the way, Bella finally asked in a low voice, "Why didn't you and David have a conflict?"
"Would you be happy if we did?"
"That's not what I meant. It just seemed like nothing happened."
"You and Albert must have seen it. We even shook hands, right?"
"Yes! I..." Bella's face turned red.
Busted!
Benedict actually knew?
Benedict smiled slightly, "I guessed. But I understand, thank you for your concern."
"I was just worried you might get into a fight! David's four bodyguards are very tough. Albert, having been in the military, could help you."
"Did you forget what Susie told you on the phone about how I dealt with Zachary's four bodyguards? Oh, and Chloe and Zachary, too."
Bella couldn't believe it. She looked at Benedict, "You're so skinny, I didn't expect you to be able to handle women and kids, let alone fight!"
Her expression showed a mix of slight resentment and a bit of happiness.
Benedict smiled, "I won't hit you or Susie anymore! Violence doesn't solve problems. But if someone uses violence against me, I won't hesitate to respond in kind."
Bella rolled her eyes at him, "So, is it just over between you and David? I don't believe it."
That was her main concern.
If the two of them kept entangling, it would be really annoying.
David was too strong.
Benedict was someone who never admitted defeat.
Benedict said calmly, "I gave him a three-year gentleman's agreement for fair competition. After three years, the decision is in your hands."
Actually, Benedict wanted to say: If David truly loves you and his actions satisfy me, and if I can find Camilla, you two can be together.
Bella was stunned.
She stood there, not moving.
She looked at Benedict as if he were a monster.
Her face turned red and then white.
Benedict looked at her seriously, "Bella, what's wrong?"
"Are you guys crazy?"
Bella gritted her teeth, stomped her foot, and stormed off.
Just then, Albert came down from upstairs, carrying his bag and dragging Bella's suitcase.
He looked at Bella's retreating figure in confusion, "Benedict, what's going on? Did you guys have a fight again?"
Benedict smiled lightly, "It's nothing. She just has a little mood swing, a small tantrum. It's normal for women."
"Oh."
"Albert."
"Yes, Benedict, what is it?"
"Do you still want to pursue Bella?"
Albert felt a bit agitated, "In front of you, what chance do I have? Forget it, really, don't joke about this."
"Let's go back to Newport. You drive."
"Sure! Driving is no problem. I can drive the whole way; you don't need to switch with me!"
"Drive the whole way? Boasting." Benedict laughed.
"Yeah, it's only five hundred miles."
Albert was a bit puzzled by Benedict's smile.
As he got into the driver's seat of the Maybach, Albert felt a wave of comfort wash over him.
Luxury cars really were something!
But he didn't expect Bella to sit in the front passenger seat.
Benedict smiled, not minding, and sat in the back.
After all, the back was more comfortable.
Albert felt a bit awkward, "Bella, why don't you sit in the back with Benedict?"
"I'll sit in the front." Bella's expression was slightly surprised as she glanced at Albert.
Albert grinned, turned to look at Benedict's calm face, "Bella, this isn't right. I'm just Benedict's driver. You two..."
"Stop talking, will you? Just drive us back to Newport!" Bella's tone was a bit cold.
Albert could only smile helplessly.
He couldn't understand Bella's mood swings.
But he had no choice but to start the car.
Unexpectedly, a figure suddenly appeared in front of the car, blocking their way.
"Bella, wait! I got a big investment! You have to star in my new movie; I guarantee it'll be a hit!"
Albert and Bella looked closely and felt annoyed.
Wasn't this the director who had been thrown into a trash can by David's men yesterday afternoon?
Albert had seen his image in the surveillance footage and had sent it to Benedict.
Benedict had seen it while smoking at the service area.
