Chapter 77 Grace, We Do Have Happy Moments
Grace got back to the villa. As soon as the white Maserati stopped, the servant eagerly opened the door, looking thrilled. "Mrs. Montague, someone dropped off a bunch of expensive stuff earlier."
She added mysteriously, "Probably from Mr. Montague for you."
The servant was genuinely happy for Grace, thinking she had finally made it. But she had no idea how tough this marriage was for Grace.
Grace didn't blame her, just gave a faint smile. She went upstairs and opened the master bedroom door.
The living room was packed with fancy branded boxes. Expensive clothes, rare jewelry, high heels, and even a haute couture dress from a recent runway show—Henry had gotten it all. Pure luxury.
Henry walked in quietly, hugged her from behind, and rested his chin on her shoulder. "Do you like it?" he asked softly.
Grace didn't reply. She opened a box, revealing satin high heels with rhinestones. They were beautiful, and Henry had great taste.
Grace smiled faintly. "Who wouldn't like these? Henry, is this your way of making up to me?"
Even though she said she liked them, her tone was indifferent. Henry knew she didn't mean it.
He turned her around and lifted her onto the sofa armrest, getting close.
Henry's tailored trousers lightly brushed against her.
Grace felt it. Her expression softened a bit, and Henry kissed her, his voice husky. "Grace, we do have happy moments, don't we?"
"Are you talking about sex?"
Grace leaned back, adjusting his shirt collar. "Henry, we're adults. First, there's the visual appeal, then the feeling. Who the other person is, whether there's love or not, doesn't matter! You've hated me for three years, and it hasn't stopped you, has it?"
Henry's gaze hardened. "Are you saying you could scream just as loudly with another man?"
Grace replied softly, "First, the visual appeal has to be there!"
Henry kissed her hard to stop her from saying more hurtful things. He didn't want to hear about visual appeal or feelings! She was his, only his.
As Henry's kisses grew more intense, Grace sensed his intentions and pushed him away. "I'm not in the mood!"
Henry was about to speak when a cautious voice came from the doorway. "Mr. Montague, Ms. Williams is here and insists on seeing you!"
Henry frowned, remembering he had told them not to let Elodie in. How did she get in again? After a moment, he said, "Let her wait in the small living room."
After giving his instructions, Henry looked at Grace. She was still on the sofa armrest, playing with the high heels, looking amused as if watching a comedy.
That look stirred something in Henry. He wanted to conquer her!
He rested his forehead against hers, his voice gentle but dangerous. "I really want to kill you like this!"
Grace raised her head and sneered, "Killing me isn't as good as divorcing me. Why carry the burden of a life?"
Henry wasn't angry. He pressed his lips against hers and murmured, "I mean, possess you in bed."
Henry's gaze softened, his desire to reconnect with Grace deepening. It wasn't just about making things right; he genuinely wanted to be with her. Remembering their happy moments, he realized this happiness was unique. In that moment, Grace was all he wanted—everything else seemed insignificant.
Grace, however, wasn't interested in continuing the conversation. She lazily pushed him away. "Aren't you going to see Elodie? Why aren't you going down?"
Henry heard the indifference in her voice. It stung. Grace didn't care about him anymore, and Elodie's visit didn't bother her at all. She kept her emotions in check, as if saying he wasn't worth her attention.
Elodie wasn't doing well. She had threatened to die, begged the nurse to bring her over, and even Rebecca didn't know. She had been waiting in the small living room for a while, hearing faint noises from upstairs. Only Henry and Grace were up there, so the noises had to be from them.
Elodie's face turned pale. She couldn't help but think, at this time of the evening, if the atmosphere was good, would Henry be doing those intimate things with his wife?
Just as she was thinking, the door opened, and Henry walked in.
Elodie, with her sharp eyes, noticed a smudge of lipstick on Henry's white shirt collar. Her face turned even paler, almost unable to sit still!
She looked at Henry, nearly begging, "Mr. Montague, please, I don't want to go abroad. I want to stay in Evergreen City. If Mrs. Montague can't tolerate me, I can apologize and explain to her. I've never wanted to replace her, nor have I ever thought of it."
Henry gestured for the medical staff to leave. Once it was quiet, he spoke calmly, "This is my decision! It has nothing to do with Grace."
Elodie didn't believe it! Her eyes still glistened with tears. "I'll explain to Mrs. Montague. I really didn't mean it. I was just feeling unwell. I'm in so much pain! Mr. Montague, for the sake of I rouse you from your coma, don't make me leave. Let me stay by your side."
Elodie felt Henry relied on her. There were moments when he'd tire himself out and doze off on the couch. She'd tuck him in, easing the lines of worry on his face. These moments made her feel like they were a married couple, their bond tinged with a bittersweet air.
But Grace's world revolved around indulgence. Luxurious outfits, exquisite grooming, and Henry's money were all she seemed to care about. Love was a foreign concept to her when it came to Henry. It was her, Elodie, who provided Henry with genuine affection and warmth.
Henry had already made up his mind. "Elodie, I did want to repay you back then, but it had nothing to do with feelings! I never had any feelings for you! Not before, not now, and not in the future."
He made it clear. "I've arranged everything. Once your condition stabilizes, you'll go abroad!"
It should be early next month!
Elodie's eyes filled with tears, and at that moment, her dream shattered.
All her delusions were pierced by Henry's words. She felt like she was back in that summer when she shamefully impersonated Grace and received Henry's gratitude!
As she watched Henry leave, she couldn't ignore his excitement, knowing all too well that his heart belonged to Grace.
"Mr. Montague," Elodie said, tears in her eyes, smiling faintly. "Before I leave, I want to take some photos! I might never come back, so I want to leave a memento!"
Henry's demeanor softened slightly. After a brief pause, he nodded. "I'll ask Celeste to handle it for you."
Elodie's lips trembled continuously.
