Chapter 39 First Encounter with Gavin
Compared to her excitement, Henry and Gavin was very calm. One was a shrewd figure in the music industry, and the other was a big shot in the business world, both restraining their sharpness.
Halfway through the banquet, Gavin began to show he was poor.
"To be honest, Mr. Montague, it's tough to make it in music these days! My name sounds impressive, but it's really hard to develop domestically. Classical music isn't favored now, those rich people are all investing in talent shows. Of course, Mr. Montague, you're different. You have taste!"
Hearing this, Henry smiled slightly.
He didn't invest directly but introduced Elodie. "I would like to introduce someone to you."
At this moment, Gavin seemed to notice Elodie for the first time.
However, Elodie was drinking water, and when everyone looked closely, they all held their breath. Celeste was laughing inside because Elodie was drinking the water meant for washing hands.
But everyone tacitly agreed not to expose her.
Gavin looked at Henry in confusion, while Henry held his forehead, his face extremely gloomy.
Just as Celeste was about to speak, the waiter approached. Seeing the water Elodie was drinking, he was surprised but didn't say anything directly. Instead, he walked over to her and whispered, "Miss, this is water for washing hands."
Elodie was stunned for a moment, then looked up at Henry and the others in embarrassment. The next second, her face turned bright red.
It was so humiliating.
Owen laughed out loud。 "It seems Miss Williams prefers hand-washing water over the food."
Elodie's face turned red, and she looked to Henry for help, but Henry seemed completely unconcerned with her embarrassment, ignoring her and sipping his wine.
However, Gavin didn't mind and asked her to play a piece on the violin for him. After all, Elodie was brought by Henry, so he had to give some face. Elodie, feeling excited, immediately played "Ode to Joy" for Gavin.
Henry found it noisy and sipped his wine.
He suddenly thought of Grace, remembering the pieces she played at the Azure Palace Hotel, several of which he found quite impressive, even a bit stunning. He never knew Grace played the violin so well.
Gavin also found it noisy.
But a master won't easily show his likes or dislikes.
He didn't mention Elodie but changed the subject. "Classical music is really hard to develop these days! I've always had a wish to do a world tour, to truly bring our classical music to the global stage. Otherwise, it's always 'Ode to Joy' and such."
Elodie felt the implicit criticism.
Even if she was torpid, she could tell Gavin was not satisfied with her.
But she was unwilling to give up such an opportunity and directly said, "Mr. Garcia, I can also perform..."
Henry interrupted her.
He raised the small, quaint cup with his long fingers and clinked it with Gavin's, smiling. "I'm very interested in what Mr. Garcia is saying. Please continue, Mr. Garcia."
Elodie was brought by him, and her embarrassment was his embarrassment.
He wondered if Grace would be able to gain Gavin's appreciation if she were here to play.
Actually, Gavin quite admired Henry, who was a young talent in the business world, advancing and retreating with ease.
No wonder, back then, he made Grace infatuated, abandoning her dreams, wanting only to marry him. But now, with Elodie by his side, she just didn't catch his eye.
