Chapter 277 Don't worry, I Don't Touch Married Women
At 6:30 AM, Grace headed downstairs to find the driver from last night already waiting.
He opened the car door for her.
Grace wasn't one to beat around the bush. "Do all of Mr. Montague's personal secretaries get this kind of treatment? How many personal secretaries has Mr. Montague had?"
What she really wanted to know was—how many mistresses had Henry had!
The driver smiled, "Ms. Windsor, I wouldn't know. I was just told to pick you up. If you want to know about anyone else, you'll need to ask Mr. Montague."
Smooth talker. Grace had no choice but to get in the car.
As they drove, the driver tried to make small talk. Grace gave short replies, but he didn't seem to mind and kept smiling.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the villa.
Grace walked into the hall and was surprised to see Clara setting the table with two kids. Taylor saw her and cheerfully called out, "Good morning, Daddy's personal secretary."
Grace's mouth twitched.
Clara patted Taylor's head and smiled apologetically at Grace, saying, "Her dad has spoiled her! Ms. Windsor, please don't mind her. By the way, join us for breakfast. Henry might just be getting up."
Clara was friendly, but Grace didn't want to get too cozy with this family. She replied politely but distantly, "Thank you. But I've already had breakfast."
Clara wasn't offended; she just smiled, "Then go on up, Ms. Windsor. Henry likes punctual people."
Grace sighed in relief and headed upstairs.
Taylor made a face at her and teased her as "personal secretary" again when Clara wasn't looking.
Grace's ears turned pink as she went upstairs.
On the second floor, Henry wasn't in the master bedroom. She quickly tidied up the bedroom and the walk-in closet. Celeste had sent her a message about Henry's habits. He was a bit of a neat freak and wanted the sheets changed daily.
Grace efficiently changed the sheets. She then went to the walk-in closet, where Henry's clothes from last night and his bathrobe were. She sorted them out, and the servants would later take them to the laundry room.
But when she was handling the bathrobe, she caught a faint masculine scent.
Grace paused. Even though she had no memory of romantic experiences, her instincts told her what this scent meant—Henry had pleasured himself during the night!
Her ears turned red, and her face was burning. Just then, she heard footsteps at the door, and Henry appeared in the walk-in closet. Grace almost bumped into him when she turned around.
Their eyes met, and she was still holding his bathrobe.
Henry was dressed to the nines in a light blue shirt and dark gray suit—the outfit she had picked and ironed for him last night.
He didn't look the least bit flirtatious. He glanced at her, then at the bathrobe in her hand, and finally said calmly, "Don't worry, I don't touch married women."
After that, Henry was all business and seemed super busy.
Grace kept doing her job as his personal secretary. Every morning and evening, she went to his villa to tidy up, and sometimes she had to pick up Taylor and help with her homework.
Taylor still teased her but also invited Grace to have desserts and asked the servants to make the best coffee for her, saying it was her mom's favorite and that Grace should try it.
Grace tasted it and found it really good. She thought Henry's wife had good taste.
She never dared to ask about Henry's wife. She was just a secretary and shouldn't pry into his private life.
But Taylor would sometimes talk about her mom's habits and what kind of clothes she liked to wear. Finally, she said, "Ms. Windsor, you actually look a bit like my mom! If you crawled into Daddy's bed and became my mom, it wouldn't be so bad."
Grace suddenly felt the coffee in her hand didn't taste as good.
A month flew by, and it was already late November, early winter.
One weekend, Grace went with Henry to a meeting. By the time they finished, it was almost 10:30 PM.
As they headed downstairs, a light rain started to fall.
The rain was settling on her hair and eyebrows, easing her fatigue.
Henry got into the car, took off his coat, and tossed it onto the back seat. As he fastened his seatbelt, he said lightly, "Stay at the villa tonight. Taylor's French teacher is on leave tomorrow, but she has a French presentation next week. You can help her with it tomorrow."
Grace refused without thinking. She turned her face towards the car window, looking at the traffic outside, and murmured, "I can come over in the afternoon."
Henry didn't insist, just said softly, "Set the address."
He took his phone out of his pocket and handed it to her. Grace felt this was too intimate, considering he was her boss and she was just a secretary, but she didn't dare to defy Henry.
Over the past month, she had become very aware of how distant he could be.
Any flirtation between them seemed to have disappeared, like it never even happened.
