Chapter 21 Falling in Love with a Friend's Wife?
Evening.
Grace also received a resignation letter from her workplace.
This was exactly what Juniper wanted, and she immediately tried to pull Grace to go with her to the Azure Palace Hotel.
Henry put away his phone and stood up, "I'll take you."
Grace refused, "Mr. Montague, we're getting divorced, there's no need for you to be attentive. Yesterday was just an accident."
She said and intended to follow Juniper.
But Henry grabbed her wrist. He was in a bad mood, her words from last night constantly echoed in his mind, disturbing him.
Just now, Aurora sent a message asking him to take Grace to Seraphina's place tonight.
Henry simply grabbed her slender wrist and walked towards the door.
Frank, helpless, could only pull Juniper to follow.
Grace was thrown into the car by Henry, and he got in after her. Because he was angry, he slammed the car door particularly hard..
Grace just glanced at him and said nothing more.
Henry might have been dissatisfied with her resistance, or maybe Elodie had provoked him.
The car started moving, and Henry leaned back in his seat, his gloomy eyes occasionally glancing at the melancholy Grace beside him.
Thinking of what Grace said when she resisted him last night made his heart ache.
He suddenly remembered three years ago when Grace had just married him. Back then, Grace loved him so much, waiting for him on the swing at the door every day, preparing bathwater and meals in advance.
At night, she would lie in bed like a willing offering, ready for him to have her all night if he wanted.
Even though she cried out in pain without foreplay, she never begged for mercy.
But gradually, at some point, she stopped smiling and expressing her love for him.
Although she became much more obedient and fulfilled her duties as a wife well, the light in her eyes had gone out.
At that time, she must have accepted the fact that he didn't love her. At some point, there was no love between them, only obligation.
As she said yesterday, she probably didn't like him anymore.
Henry's hand slowly covered Grace's delicate hand, his voice hoarse, "Grace."
Grace pulled her hand away and turned her face to the side, her attitude somewhat cold, "What do you want to say?"
Henry's gaze was intense and serious, "If you had another chance, would you choose Lucas or me?"
Grace was slightly stunned, not understanding why Henry was asking this.
Just then, the car stopped, and Grace saw that the place where she was supposed to work this morning, also the store where she played the violin, was closed.
But yesterday, the store was still open. Suddenly, she connected it to the question Henry had just asked her.
Realizing everything in an instant, she turned to look at Henry, "Is this what you wanted me to see?"
Henry ignored her and continued driving.
On the way, Henry said lightly, "Mrs. Montague, do you know who owns that store?"
Grace didn't speak, just quietly watched him.
Henry didn't want to beat around the bush. He drove to the front of the Azure Palace Hotel, turned his head to look at her, "Grace, I don't want to know what happened between you two, but remember your current status. As long as we're not divorced, you're still my Mrs. Montague."
Grace sneered, finally understanding why he wanted to take her today.
Wasn't he just jealousy? It seemed that Lucas had been forced to leave the country by Henry after sending her a message last night.
Although she didn't want to give in to Henry, Lucas had saved her father's life.
After thinking for a moment, Grace looked at Henry, "Don't go after him. This is our business."
Henry found it amusing, "I can agree, as long as you come back."
Grace listened but didn't respond, just lowered her head in silence.
Henry didn't want to hear her answer. He had begun to understand Grace's temperament, she wouldn't agree, then he said, "Get out of the car."
Grace opened the car door and was immediately met with Juniper's puzzled gaze, "Grace, what's wrong? Did Henry bully you again?"
She said this and wanted to hit Henry, but Grace stopped her, "No, let's go."
Juniper looked at Grace's unusual behavior but didn't say anything, just led the way.
Grace followed behind, glancing back at Henry, who was leaning against the car door smoking and watching her.
If she had another chance, what would she choose?
Her answer was to love herself.
At the banquet, Grace, in a dress, sat in the center. When the music started, the noisy banquet hall instantly quieted down.
Everyone's eyes were on the most dazzling spot in the banquet.
The rich heirs were all enjoying the impact of the music.
In the luxurious hall, Henry leaned on the sofa, holding a wine glass, watching Grace in the banquet hall.
His eyes carried a hint of possessiveness. The music was beautiful, but it felt familiar.
Since they got engaged, Grace had never played the violin again.
But where had he heard it? He couldn't remember.
His thoughts were interrupted by applause.
As the piece ended, Felix appeared from somewhere, clapping his hands.
He stared at Grace's pretty face, momentarily lost in thought.
"Grace, your violin playing is excellent. I didn't expect you to have this skill." For some reason, he said this impulsively.
Grace looked at him in surprise, but because of what happened yesterday, she knew him, the brother of Esme Rodriguez, Felix, definitely had no good intentions.
Now he was praising her playing, was he planning to make things difficult for her again?
She took a step back with her violin, bumping into Juniper who came to help. Grace looked at Felix in front of her, "You said you wouldn't make things difficult for me."
Felix saw Juniper and Frank behind Grace and said, "I didn't make things difficult for you."
With that, he turned and left.
But as he left, he glanced at Henry sitting on the sofa in the corner, a slight smile on his lips.
Henry was also watching him.
After Felix left, Frank looked at Grace, feeling puzzled, "Hey, I remember Felix wasn't invited to this banquet. How did he get here?"
The banquet continued.
But Frank found Felix in the corner, drinking and watching the center of the banquet.
He raised his glass and clinked it with Felix's, leaning on the table, taking a sip of his drink, and following Felix's gaze to see Grace displaying her artistic talent, "Felix, have you fallen for her?"
"Don't forget, she's been married for three years, and her husband is right there." He turned to see Felix lost in thought and couldn't help but laugh, "Hey, didn't you dislike her before, making her drink two glasses of wine? Now you like her?"
But Felix didn't reply.
Frank took out two cigarettes, put one in his mouth, and handed the other to Felix, "Felix, it's fine to like her, but don't forget whose wife she is."
Felix took the cigarette, lit it, exhaled a smoke ring, and said, "You're crazy."
"Hey, I give you advice, and you call me crazy."
After the banquet, Grace was about to leave with Juniper when Henry appeared from the corner and grabbed her. "Change your clothes, we're going home."
Grace tried to pull her hand away, "Henry, you should explain the situation to Grandma. We can't keep hiding it. And the act is over, you should let me go."
Henry immediately gave a mocking smile, leaning close to her ear and whispering, "If you don't want your Lucas to get into trouble, come back with me."
Grace was slightly stunned by his words, said nothing, and let him pull her away.
Juniper wanted to say something but was stopped by Frank, who wrapped an arm around her waist, "Why interfere in a couple's quarrel?"
He turned to look at Felix drinking nearby and gave a playful smile, "Am I right, Felix?"
