Seventy-Nine

Laura

The gifts were starting to get me worried, first, it was roses, then they were chocolates, then a big teddy bear fruits and a gold necklace that I was sure was worth millions.

I sat on the bed with Tracy looking at the gifts like some kind of explanation would jump out of it.

"I'm worried," I said not looking away from the gifts.

"Same here, who is this admirer?"

"I don't know, Isabella replied to my text, she said Liam was doing fine and acting as usual which means he's not the one sending the gifts," I said unconsciously placing my hand on my bump, an action that I had become very used to it.

"Ethan told me the same, he said he was acting normally and doing better," Tracy said and I nodded.

There was silence for several minutes, we just sat there staring at the gifts, I got tired of sitting so I got out of bed and moved closer to the gifts.

"Could it be from Jack?" I asked turning to look at her.

"To be sincere I thought about that too but I dismissed the possibility because Jack is in jail, I asked Ethan and he confirmed it,"

"Then who could they be from?" I asked in frustration.

"I guess you really have a secret admirer," she said and I frowned.

"Look at me Tracy, I'm heavily pregnant with three babies, I look like I'm about to burst, my legs are swollen so are my hands, who would admire me in this state?" I asked and she got out of bed too.

"Well, someone admires you,"

"More like a stalker admires me, a stalker that is up to no good, I'm getting scared," I said and she held my hand.

"Don't worry, you don't have to be scared,"

"I really hope I don't have to be worried or scared too," I said and she gave me a reassuring smile.

"Where are the cards that came with the gifts?"

"Wait, I'll get them," she said and she moved away from me, she got the cards and brought them to me.

"Here," she said handing me the cards.

"This came with the roses, right?" she asked and I nodded before reading it.

"A thousand beautiful red roses but not as beautiful as your heart,"

"This came with the chocolates, so much sweetness but not as sweet as you are," I read before handing the card to her.

"This came with the compilation of love poems, beautiful and soothing words but they don't measure up to a single word you say,"

"Nourishing and healthy but not as healthy as your presence in my life, I read then I handed her the card.

"This came with the fruits right?" she asked and I nodded before proceeding.

"Soft and warm but not as soft or warm as you," I read before handing out the card to her.

"This came with the gold necklace, worth a lot but has no value when compared to your priceless love," I read then I handed the last card to her.

"Whoever this person is said the truth," she said and I looked at her.

"You don't have any idea who this might be?" I asked her and she shook her head.

"Do you have any idea?" she asked and I sighed.

I went back to sit on the bed because I was already feeling tired, she returned the card and sat beside me.

"Reading the card again for a minute I thought it might be Liam but I know it is just my wishful thinking, Liam hates me now and I don't think I would ever hear him say those kinds of things to me again, Tracy I miss him," I said as tears rolled down my cheek.

"Oh Laura, I know you do," she said holding my hands.

"I'm so sorry, I don't know why I'm crying again,"

"Don't worry I understand,"

"I miss him so much,"

"I know,"

"I love him a lot, he gave me a ring as proof of his love and I ruined everything," I said still crying.

"You did what you thought was best," she said and I sobbed harder.

"We can go back if you want to, we'll explain everything to him," she said and I shook my head.

"I can't do that," I said wiping my tears with the back of my hand.

"Okay then, you should rest now, you've stressed yourself," she said and I nodded.

"I'm hungry,"

"There is leftover chocolate cake, would you like that or you'll like something else?" She asked and I shook my head.

"No, the chocolate cake is alright,"

"Should I bring some lemonade?"

"Yes thank you," I said and she nodded she turned to leave but I stopped her.

"Tracy,"

"Yes?"

"I mean it, thank you very much," I said and she smiled.

"You are always welcome baby girl," she replied before leaving.

She came back a few minutes later with the chocolate cake and lemonade, we shared them then I took a nap after.

I woke up later in the afternoon and I went to the sitting room where I found Tracy, she looked up from the book she was reading when she noticed I was around.

"Baby girl, how are you doing? she asked as I sat on the couch beside her.

"I feel a lot better but my back hurts a lot, my legs, they feel like I've been working for years,"

"Should I help you massage them?" she asked and I shook my head.

"Maybe later in the evening," I said and she nodded.

"Which book are you reading?" I asked and she closed the book so she could show me the cover.

"Oh! A book by your favorite mysterious writer," I said and she nodded with a smile on her face.

"S, something tells me S is a she," she said and I raised a brow.

"Really?"

"Yeah, maybe Sandra, Susan, or Snow," she said and I shook my head.

"You'll be shocked to find out he's a guy and his name is Simon," I said and she frowned.

"Shut up girl, I'm the fan here," she said and I chuckled.

"Tracy,"

"Yes?"

"I'm craving chocolate cookies," I said and she dropped her book on the couch.

"Stop craving, you've had enough chocolate cake for today,"

"But we shared the chocolate cake,"

"Nope, there were three slices and I took just one,"

"There were two left which means I need to have two more because we are four in this body," I told her rubbing my bump

"Is that some kind of blackmail?" She asked but before I could reply we heard the doorbell.

"I'll get the door," Tracy said and she went to answer the door.

"Laura, someone is here for you she said less than a minute after she left and I groaned because I had to stand up.

I managed to stand up and I went to the door where I saw the man that had been delivering the gifts.

"Good afternoon ma'am,"

"Good afternoon, this is for you," he said handing me a card tied with a golden ribbon.

"Thank you,"

"You're welcome," I said then he left.

I went back inside with Tracy and we sat on the couch ready to read what was on the card.

"I'm so nervous," I said and Tracy chuckled.

"Open it let's see what's in it," she said and I did.

"Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed when I saw what was written in it, I felt sweaty all of a sudden and one of the babies kicked hard.
