Sixty-Four

Laura and the others were gone for over an hour but my mind was at ease because Ethan was with them, if he wasn't I would have been very worried.

They came back later with shopping bags, they all looked exhausted, especially Laura.

"Laura, are you okay?" My mum asked before I could.

"I'm fine, just tired,"

"Come over here child," my mum said standing up then she helped Laura settle into the chair.

"It is expected, you are carrying three strong babies, you'll surely tire easily," she said smoothening Laura's hair with her hand.

"I hope you've eaten something," Maria said and Laura nodded.

"Yeah, we ate breakfast together," I told her getting out of bed, I sat back down on the bed, my legs on the floor and I pulled Laura's chair closer.

"Are you hungry?" I asked and she shook her head.

"Not hungry but I'm craving Maria's chocolate cake," she said softly and I smiled.

"But you ate chocolate cake yesterday,"

"Yeah, but it was not Maria's,"

"Okay then, Maria, Laura is craving your chocolate cake, can you make some before we get back home tomorrow?" I asked and Maria nodded with a big smile on her face.

"Thank you,"

We had lunch together before they all left and the rest of the day passed without any significant thing happening, I just chatted with Laura and I used my phone when she was napping.

We left the hospital the next day after the doctor discharged me, our driver drove us home, and to be sincere I had missed being home.

We were given a very warm welcome back home, Matilda helped us with our luggage and we all went inside.

"It is good to be back home," Laura said sitting on the couch.

"I agree," I said taking my seat beside her, everybody sat down and they were looking at us, I was wondering what was going on until my mum spoke up.

"I'll be going to Ethan's place with Maria for a while," she said and I frowned.

"Why? I mean, I don't mind, but why?"

"Nothing much, a change of environment," she said raising her head like she was daring me to say anything in protest.

"What did you do to my mother? Have you cast some sort of spell on her?" I asked Ethan and everyone laughed.

"Don't be stingy man, she's our mother," he replied and I scoffed.

"I don't remember having a brother," I said and he rolled his eyes, he moved closer to my mum on purpose and he put his hands on her shoulder, I knew he was trying to get me to talk but I didn't, I glared at him instead.

"I'm going with them too, I'll be going with Tracy but we would be back in a week, I don't know about mum and Maria," Isabella said and I raised a brow.

"You would be using more than a week?" I asked my mum and she shrugged.

"Maybe a month or two, I'm sure you can handle the cooking and Matilda would handle the cleaning like she always has," she said and I heaved a sigh of resignation.

"Do what you like," I told them and they began to stand up.

"Let's go start packing," Tracy told Isabella and they both left the sitting room.

"What's going on?" I asked and Ethan came to stand behind me.

"They said they'll be going with me tonight," he said and I sighed again.

"Don't worry, you can spend time with me," Laura said and I looked at her beautiful face.

"That's true, I'll spend time with you," I said and I bit my lips then I winked, as expected she blushed.

My mum and others finished packing and they left with Ethan after dinner, we were left alone in the mansion and I was weirdly happy that I would be spending time alone with Laura.

"Do you think they left because they want us to have time alone?" I asked Laura as we prepared for bed.

"I don't know, maybe," she said getting on the bed and crawling towards me.

"What are you doing?" I asked as she straddled me.

"Nothing," she said smiling mischievously.

"This doesn't look like nothing," I said and she laughed, I looked at her stomach and I realized that the bump was not visible.

"They don't show in big clothes," she said and I nodded slowly.

"I've noticed, now tell me what you are doing," I said as she held the cover.

"Nothing," she said right before pulling the cover above our heads.

I woke up early the next morning, Laura was still sleeping so I had my bath and I went downstairs to prepare breakfast.

I finished breakfast and Matilda finished cleaning around that time so I gave her the rest of the day off, it was mainly because I wanted to spend time alone with Laura and Matilda didn't seem to mind.

I took breakfast upstairs and I woke Laura, she slapped my hand off at first but she eventually opened her eyes when she realized I won't stop trying to wake her up.

"Good morning," she said squinting and I leaned forward to place a kiss on her forehead.

"Good morning to you the woman that stole my heart," I said and she smiled.

"I made breakfast, would you do me the honor of eating together with me?" I asked and she sat up.

"I would,"

We had breakfast together then we took the dishes downstairs after she took her bath and we did the dishes together.

After doing the dishes, I lay on the couch and Laura lay beside me, her head on my chest, we tried watching a movie but we became uninterested and we stopped watching.

"I want chocolate cake," Laura said drawing straight lines on my chest with her hand.

"But we just had breakfast," I said and she tried to sit up but I held her where she was.

"I ate that for these three people, the chocolate cake is for me," she said and I chuckled.

"In other words, you are still hungry,"

"Not hungry, just craving chocolate cake," she said and I shook my head.

"Okay, let's go get you chocolate cake," I said sitting up and I also helped her sit up.

We went to the fridge and I brought out the chocolate cake Maria made before they left, I cut a slice for her, and I watched her finish it on the spot.

"Can I have more?" She asked and I shook my head.

"Please," she pleaded giving me a very cute face, I tried but I just couldn't say no to her.

"One more and no more," I said and she beamed.

I gave her another slice and I watched her do justice to it, she looked endearing and I couldn't wait to give her the surprise I had for her.
