Chapter 820 Enjoy the Show
Chapter 820 Enjoy the Show
Sometimes, emotions were just so inexplicable. Christina felt like she was dreaming. After a few months of medical exchange abroad, she not only found a partner but also became Paul's wife.
The next day, Knox informed her of the return date.
Elowen walked over and said, "Miss Mitchell, we can take a half-day off the day after tomorrow. Let's go shopping and buy some gifts for our families."
Christina readily agreed, "Sure."
Although her family lacked nothing, she still wanted to buy some gifts as a token of her affection.
During her free time, Christina made a list of gifts to buy and sent the confirmed return date to Paul.
At the Thomas Group, Paul successfully ousted Preston from the general manager's office.
Joseph originally wanted to take this opportunity to hand over the vacant CEO position to Preston, which would almost confirm the rumors of Preston taking over the Thomas Group.
At this stage, it couldn't be done; the timing wasn't right. Forcing Preston into the position would be more detrimental to him, especially since Ashley, among all the shareholders, was strongly opposed.
"Let's wait a bit longer," Joseph sighed and comforted Preston.
Now, Preston was demoted to the position of the deputy general manager, and the group already had a deputy general manager, so Preston's position was now on par with his.
Preston was full of resentment. 'Why was Paul to be above me?'
It was just a ridiculous bet. Preston remembered something and brought it up casually, "I'm taking a day off the day after tomorrow."
"What for?" Joseph asked.
Preston replied, "It's Arabella's birthday. I promised to spend the day with her."
Joseph's eyes shifted. Christina was a girl from the prestigious Mitchell Family back home, which could help him enter the Country Z market. Arabella Edwards was a local girl from Country Y. If Joseph could marry Arabella, the Thomas Group would not only enter the Country Z market but also become stronger locally.
Joseph's plan was well thought out.
Preston also knew Joseph's profit-driven nature.
Sure enough, Joseph quickly agreed to his leave, "Do well. Arabella is a good girl. If you can marry her and get her family's support, it won't be long before you overcome all obstacles and get the position you want."
Preston lowered his head and responded faintly.
Christina was going back home in half a month. Today, Knox gave them a half-day off, and Christina went shopping with Elowen.
Elowen bought a lot of skincare and makeup products.
Elowen said, "Many of my friends asked me to bring things back. Christina, can you help me find these?"
Christina had already bought the gifts she needed, so she helped Elowen find the items she needed. They wandered around the mall, and Christina felt dizzy from all the shopping.
Elowen said, "Finally got everything. Let's go, my treat."
Christina and Elowen, carrying bags of items, saw a familiar face, Preston, as they were going downstairs.
Preston was shopping with a blonde, blue-eyed woman who looked like a doll. He was carrying several shopping bags, and the woman was intimately holding his arm, walking towards them.
They were also going downstairs.
Preston naturally saw Christina too, and he quickly felt embarrassed.
He then pretended not to see Christina, and Christina couldn't be bothered to greet him, so they both acted like they didn't know each other. They weren't that familiar anyway.
Preston and Arabella walked ahead, while Christina and Elowen followed behind. Downstairs, they went their separate ways.
Christina and Elowen arrived at a restaurant.
"Miss Mitchell, you order first. I'll go to the restroom."
Christina nodded. Feeling a bit bored while waiting for Elowen, she took out her phone to play. Just then, Paul sent a message asking where she was.
Christina: [I'm at the mall with Elowen. Guess who I saw.]
Paul: [Who?]
Christina: [Preston, with a blonde beauty. She looks like a doll.]
Preston looked at the blonde beauty with gentle and doting eyes.
Paul: [How do you manage to run into him even while shopping?]
Christina: [I didn't talk to him.]
Paul: [That's good.]
Seeing Elowen return, Christina put her phone away. They had bought almost everything they needed, so after eating, they went straight back.
In the evening, Arabella's family was hosting a birthday party for her, inviting many people from high society.
Christina had just returned home and hadn't even caught her breath when Paul called.
"Get ready. I'm coming home to take you out."
"I'm a bit tired. I don't want to go out."
"To watch a good show. Are you coming?"
'What good show could there be here?' Christina wondered.
Hearing the excitement in Paul's voice, Christina reluctantly agreed.
Ten minutes later, Paul arrived home. Seeing Christina slumped on the sofa, he walked over and picked her up.
"What are you doing?" Christina exclaimed, quickly wrapping her arms around his neck.
Paul chuckled. "Taking you to watch a good show."
"I can walk by myself."
"Aren't you tired? It's better if I carry you."
Paul didn't give Christina a chance to resist and carried her to the car.
He first took Christina to a stylist, and then she changed into a beautiful dress and had her makeup done. Then they went to a hotel.
Paul took out an invitation, and the security let them in after checking it.
Inside, it was lively with people toasting and mingling. Christina realized it was a birthday party.
"You brought me to someone else's birthday party, and we didn't even prepare a gift."
Paul replied, "I already prepared a gift. Don't worry."
Christina finally relaxed.
Wearing high heels, she walked slowly, so Paul slowed his pace to walk with her.
Paul brought her to Arabella. Paul called, "Arabella."
Seeing Paul, Arabella enthusiastically gave him a ceremonial hug and then looked at Christina.
Paul introduced, "My wife, Christina Mitchell."
Arabella's eyes widened in surprise. "Your wife? Oh my God, you're married? Why didn't you tell me?"
"We only registered the marriage and haven't had the wedding yet. We'll invite you when we have the wedding."
"Okay. Nice to meet you, Ms. Mitchell. I'm Paul's friend," Arabella greeted Christina with a bright smile.
At the mall, there was some distance between them. Now, up close, Arabella looked even more exquisite, cuter than a doll. Christina couldn't help but feel a fondness for her.
"Nice to meet you," Christina said, hugging Arabella.
At this moment, Preston also emerged from the crowd and walked towards Arabella.
Today, he would officially become Arabella's boyfriend. He had prepared everything, just waiting to confess.
Seeing Paul and Christina, Preston's steps faltered, and his expression changed. 'Why are they here?'
Arabella waved at him. "Preston, come over."
Preston's frown relaxed, and he walked over briskly.
"This is my friend Paul. We met in Country M." Arabella had returned from Country M a month ago, so she didn't know about the relationship between Paul and Preston.
