Chapter40
Adrienne didn’t go see him. She raised her hand and opened the master bedroom door. She heard his hoarse voice say, “Even if we don’t love each other anymore, we’ll still be tangled up like this for the rest of our lives. You said you’d step aside for Bethany, but I think you just want me to step aside for someone else, right? Adrienne, just give up on that idea.”
Adrienne didn’t pay attention to his craziness, he could easily give her work to Bethany and put Bethany in that posi- tion, so why was he saying this now?
The first one to betray this relationship was Garrett himself, but he acted like he was the victim. He was just shame- less.
Adrienne didn’t pay attention anymore.
Cloudhaven Mansion was in the villa area, so it was hard to get a cab. She could only ask Jared to give her a ride back. She had to drive to pick up Willard so she wouldn’t be late again today.
Jared didn’t say no.
Adrienne’s impression of Jared was neither good nor bad, and nobody around Garrett liked her. Only Jared always treated her with some respect.
Jared came back after dropping someone off, and saw his boss sitting on the couch smoking.
Garrett only smoked when he was upset.
The maid made breakfast and seemed to have no idea Adrienne had left, so she asked quietly, “Mr. Melendez, where’s Mrs. Melendez? Breakfast is ready, and I made sure to leave out all the crab stuff.”
I heard Mrs. Melendez was allergic to crabs, and she couldn’t have anything related to crabs.
Garrett stood up, his tone was cold, “It’s over.”
The servant didn’t dare say anything for a moment.
Jared just stood there too, since he was already used to the boss being like this.
Just now Jared took Adrienne away in another car. Now he was driving the one Garrett usually used, the same one they came back in last night.
That crappy computer was still in the car, and the screen was already smashed beyond recognition.
Thinking about how sad Adrienne looked last night, Garrett just felt upset and picked up the computer by his feet to mess with it again.
This computer was still the one he bought her back then. At that time, she cried so hard she could barely breathe,

pulled him to return it, and said it was too expensive.
She kept this thing for so many years, how did her feelings just change?
He fiddled with it for a while, still couldn’t turn it on, so he just put it aside.

When the car stopped at the Melendez Group, he told Jared, “Take the computer to get it fixed and see if it still works if you change the screen.”
“Okay, boss.”
Garrett had just walked into the top floor when he ran into Theodore.
There were a few top executives following behind Theodore, and both sides had a strong presence.
Back then, before Garrett was brought back, Theodore was pretty much the next heir. Later, Garrett came back. The Melendez family thought about how he’d suffered so much out there and built himself up from nothing, so they split the Melendez Group in two and let the brothers run it together.
As for the heir, it just depended on which of the two did better later.
People in the circle all thought Theodore would be pretty rude to this brother who’d been found, since nobody wanted to lose something they already had. Besides, in a big family, when faced with such a huge temptation, things like fam- ily bonds were just for show.
But Theodore was nice to this younger brother, at least on the surface.
Theodore nodded slightly, his eyes landing on his lips, and asked with concern, “What happened to your mouth?”
Garrett’s tone was calm, with a hint of a smile in his eyes, but he still looked a bit gloomy, “A married person, who else could bite their lips?”
The higher-ups around looked at me and I looked at them, and none of us understood what this weird tension was all about.
Theodore didn’t show any other emotion, just nodded a little.
