Chapter 33

“Wow! Finally!" shouted Daniele, cheering loudly, after Clarie told her that Lucas had proposed to her last night.

Currently, Daniele is visiting Clarie's apartment.

"Where's the ring?" asked Daniele enthusiastically.

Clarie shrugged, she asked Lucas about it but the man said that he spontaneously asked her to marry him. However, Lucas convinced himself that his impromptu remark was serious and no joke.

"We're having dinner tonight," Clarie said, tucking a strand of hair into her ear.

“Candlelight dinner,” said Daniele. "It must be very romantic," she added.

"I don't want to think about it," Clarie said, blushing.

"What about Marion, they're divorced right?" Daniele asked seriously.

"Yes, they are officially divorced."

“Will she be okay knowing her ex-husband married his own secretary? Aren't you afraid she'll do something again?" Daniele asked making Clarie paranoid again.

Clarie had absolutely no idea why Lucas divorced his wife. The man only said that the relationship between him and Marion was very disharmonious, but so far Clarie had never seen any disharmony in question. She wanted to ask the man but always felt bad because she realized it was not in her interest.

At night.

The dress Clarie had chosen for dinner was glossy black. The dress covered the curves of her body in a very intimate way, falling around her ankles, and gently caressing her thighs and calves. Two thin straps hung from her shoulders, a slightly open slit accentuated her dense breasts, and accentuated her slender neck. She let her golden brown hair fly behind her back.

Lucas will pick you up in less than thirty minutes. Currently, Clarie is still staring at her makeup mirror that reflects herself. The girl never stopped praising herself for looking perfect tonight thanks to the black silk dress that Lucas had bought this afternoon. This was their first dinner after three months of having a symbiotic relationship of mutualism which ended up making her the future wife of her boss.

Worries about Lucas' ex-wife were slightly forgotten by this dinner. Clarie just hopes that all is well and that Marion doesn't do anything horrible to her or Lucas again.

She heard her cell phone ringing on the nightstand next to the bed. Hurriedly, the girl took the flat object and spontaneously curved her lips into a beautiful smile when she read the name printed on her cellphone screen.

"Yes?" say hello to someone on the other side.

“Are you ready? I'm waiting for you in the lobby," said the baritone voice.

"Okay, I'll be right down," she replied. Immediately Clarie turned off her cell phone and looked for her stilettos and put them on.

Clarie dabbed perfume behind her ear before leaving her room.

The elevator stopped in the lobby, Clarie stepped out of the iron box and was greeted by Lucas who looked handsome in his black tuxedo. The girl blushed when Lucas kissed the back of her hand warmly.

"Very beautiful and exciting," Lucas whispered in Clarie's ear as they walked hand in hand to the limousine that was waiting for the two of them to the restaurant that was their dinner destination.

Lucas invites Clarie to have dinner at a luxury restaurant, The River Cafe, with a view showing the Brooklyn Bridge which looks beautiful at night, as well as the River East, a river that looks calm and shimmers under the city lights.

After enjoying the main course, Lucas thrust a navy blue velvet box in the middle of the table and asked Clarie to open it.

"Are you serious?" Clarie asked in disbelief.

"I told you, last night's spontaneous speech was a serious matter of mine," Lucas replied. "Open it!" he ordered again.

Clarie slowly opened the box that Lucas offered her, the girl held her breath when the box opened to reveal a white gold ring with a sparkling diamond on it.

“This is so beautiful,” said Clarie, which almost filled her eyes with tears. She never imagined all this, having dinner at a famous restaurant and being proposed by a man she adores.

Then Lucas got up from his seat and stepped beside Clarie to sit. Kneel beside him.

"Give it to me," he begged, holding out his hand. Then, Clarie handed the ring box to Lucas.

The man cleared his throat.

"Miss Evans, will you marry me?"

Lucas' actions immediately became the center of attention of the visitors who were there. Someone took their picture and also video it. The boisterous voice made Clarie move.

"Come on, just accept it!"

“What are you waiting for, say yes!”

Clarie immediately nodded in agreement with Lucas' request, she immediately reached out her hand to the man. Actually this is not a surprise, but still, tonight is a happy night for Clarie Evans. Lucas proposed to her in front of many people, one thing that made her love her boss even more.

Lucas pinned the diamond ring on Clarie's ring finger and kissed it gently. The two of them are now standing side by side which was greeted with applause from restaurant patrons and thanked them.

After dinner, when the two of them were about to leave the restaurant at the main door, there were already many media crews who would discuss the application that took place in the restaurant earlier. This is because it is known that Lucas recently divorced a well-known model in this city, Marion Larsen.

The media crew felt that the news of Marion-Lucas' divorce had not faded. Now, shocking news emerged that her ex-husband, Marion Larsen, was making an application to his secretary. The news hunters claimed that it was Lucas who had cheated on the famous model.

While Lucas himself did not care at all about the opinions of the media crew. They are free to report that they are bad, just don't disturb their privacy, let alone their partners.

"You are okay?" Lucas asked while cupping Clarie's cheeks, after they managed to get into the limousine to avoid the paparazzi with the help of a restaurant employee.

Clare nodded. “I'm fine,” she said.

"Oh, thank God," he said with a sigh of relief.

"But they're going to say something bad about you," Clarie said worriedly.

"I really don't care about that, honey. Because in reality, they don't know what's really going on."

Clarie frowned. "About what?" asked Clarie hoping he would tell her about the reason for his separation from Marion.

"You'll find out later," Lucas replied while kissing the girl's forehead.

Bang!

"God damn it!" Marion throws her expensive cell phone at the wall, causing a distinctive sound and it shatters on the floor.

"Bitch!" she shouted again at no one. “I will get back at you, Bastard!”

"What the hell?!" shouted Terry who had just entered Marion's room and found the woman raging.

“Lucas proposed to that damn girl!” Marion said to Terry.

Terry sighed tiredly, she had been patient enough to face Marion's attitude in this one week due to her divorce from Lucas. In the past few days, Marion has often been seen crying and wailing as if she did not accept the judge's decision that passed Lucas's divorce suit.

Marion's family also asked her to take care of her worried that the woman would do something wrong. However, lately, Terry has grown tired of Marion's attitude that seems to no longer regard her as a partner.

"Isn't he entitled to do that, after all, Lucas is now a free man without ties?" Terry said emotionlessly.

“Why do you always defend him, though!” Marion snapped angrily.

"Because here he is innocent at all," Terry replied coldly.

"What do you mean he's innocent? Then what did he do to me, cheated on me behind my back, wasn't that a mistake?" asked Marion emotion.

“Use your brain, Marion! Don't be selfish just follow your lust!“

"I'm sick of you, Terry!" Marion hissed with breaths that started to rise and fall. Her emotions overflowed again.

“It doesn't matter that you hate me, I have nothing to lose. Because it's been a long time since I killed my feelings for you, Mary!” Terry said without any expression on her face.

Marion gaped, unable to believe what had just come out of the lips of a woman who had always loved her and even always gave in to her.

"You didn't really mean that, did you?" asked Marion getting scared.

Terry shook her head as she flashed a sinister smile. Who can stand a partner who always expects other people when they are by their side? While her heart and feelings are neglected. That's what Terry has been feeling lately, that's why she started to numb her feelings for the woman in front of her.

“Enjoy your loss, Mary!” Terry said as she stepped away from the woman who was still stunned in her place.

“Terry?” she called slowly. The woman began to worry. “Terry?!” call again. Still no answer. Marion began to fear, she did not want to lose anymore.

“Terry!” she shouted loudly.
