Chapter 31

“Daniel?” Clarie called surprised when she found her best friend here accompanying her.

Hi, Clarie. How do you feel?" Daniele got up from her seat and walked over to Clarie's bed.

"I don't feel my body," she said trying to get up to sit up. Daniele immediately helped her. "How did you get here?" she asked in surprise.

“Your boss asked me to come here to accompany you, he said he wanted to go out and deal with some of his problems. By the way, he already knows who the kidnapper is but he doesn't want to say who it is. It sucks, doesn't it?" Daniele chattered at length.

Clarie chuckled in response to her best friend's words. Lucas already knew who the culprit was and of course, the man didn't want to tell because to protect her from being caught by the authorities. She really couldn't believe that Lucas was still defending his wife after what she had done to her.

“He should have reported and jailed the perpetrators. Don't even keep it a secret!" Daniele again complained annoyed.

"Never mind, Danni, I'm lucky he found me before I died," said Clarie filled with emotion.

“Still your life won't be safe as long as he's out there, Clarie. I was really worried about you," Daniele said weakly.

Clarie will find out why the woman plans to kill her. Is it because she already knows the relationship she has with Lucas?

Lucas rushed into his clothes after his lovemaking session with Marion. Twice, they wrestled and reached an incredibly delicious orgasm. Marion watched as Lucas was getting ready to leave her this morning.

"Are we really going to divorce, Luke?" asked Marion trying to convince the man to think carefully about his decision.

"You signed it, right?" he asked again.

“Oh, the damn file. Come here," she said asking Lucas for a lawsuit.

"What for?"

"We can live together forever, Luke, and I don't mind your relationship with the secretary at all," said Marion trying to negotiate.

Lucas chuckled, shaking his head.

“See you later, Marion. You can have this house to you, I've moved my belongings into the apartment." Lucas stepped away from Marion's bed and disappeared behind the bedroom door.

"Luke, you're not serious are you?!" Marion shouted as she wrapped the blanket around her body.

“Lucas!” she shouted again and jumped off the bed trying to catch up with the man.

Marion walked quickly out of the room trying to prevent the man from leaving.

"Luke, come back!" she shouted from upstairs.

Lucas was already downstairs when he heard Marion's screams. The man looked up at the woman, but he only gave a fleeting smile and continued walking out of the house.

Marion's screams could still be heard outside the house. Lucas tried to steel his heart and convince himself that this was the right decision. In his car, he opened his cell phone and dialed someone.

"Yes, Luke?"

"Could you come to our house, I think she's having a tantrum," he said.

"What else?!" asked the voice in a high tone.

"I've found Clarie, and I'm not going to report the case to the authorities to keep her career safe."

"Oh, that is good."

“But first she agreed to sign the letter, and a second later she roared. Can you come right away?!” Lucas insisted asking Terry to calm Marion who seemed to be raging inside.

"Damn you Luke!" cursed Terry on the other end who used herself only to calm Marion who was raging.

“Thank you, come quickly! I'm afraid she'll destroy the whole house.”

Lucas immediately turned off his phone and started driving his car out of the carport of his residence with Marion.

This morning he will go straight to his lawyer's office, asking to immediately take care of his divorce case.

"You managed to get her to sign," said Joe after seeing the file in his hand.

"It's easy, if she refuses I will report the case," Lucas replied lightly.

Joe put the sheet of paper on the table, then stacked his hands on the table.

"So it's true, she committed premeditated murder?" asked Joe curious about the case that happened to his best friend's secretary.

“Yeah, and luckily Will and I moved quickly. We traced Helen's number who was also involved."

"Wow!" exclaimed Joe, unable to stop thinking about what he had just heard. "He must really love you, Luke," Joe argued.

"Who?" Lucas asked, narrowing his eyes.

“Marion, who else?!” Joe replied while leaning his body on the back of his work chair.

Lucas shook his head, if it were true he wouldn't care. Because the love he used to keep for Marion just disappeared after he found out that the woman was having an affair with her manager.

Lucas couldn't accept that, if Marion played with fire with the opposite sex it didn't matter, he was still willing to forgive. But this? His wife is having an affair with a member of the same sex. Even though in the end the woman was honest, Lucas still couldn't imagine it. What was even more strange was, the three of them were able to get along well.

"I think I love another woman," Lucas said quietly, the man's eyes focused on a Caption America action figure on his best friend's table.

"I can see it."

Lucas looked at the man in front of him asking for an explanation.

"I can see it from your panic when you received the call earlier and decided to leave the meeting for the sake of that girl," Joe explained.

"I have to go. Take care of my case immediately!” Lucas said while getting up from his seat and preparing to leave.

"I'll take care of it as soon as possible, Luke," Joe replied.

Lucas drove his car to the hospital where Clarie was being treated. Did he really love that girl? He had heard Clarie's question last night, and he had purposely not answered it. It wasn't that he didn't want to answer, he was just convincing his heart of his feelings for the girl. In the few months with him, he seemed to be able to find comfort and a home in her.

"Hi," Lucas greeted the girl who was currently sitting on the hospital bed. He didn't see Daniele in the room. "How are you today?" asked the man while sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Feeling better," Clarie said. "How's the problem?" asked Clarie curiously.

"Fine," Lucas said curtly.

"Aren't you going to report her?" asked Clarie timidly.

Lucas looked at Clarie with deep eyes. Then the man shook his head slowly.

"She almost killed me," Clarie squeaked. She was worried that his wife would do it again one day and there would be no more luck for her to survive.

"I'll make sure she won't touch you again, honey," Lucas said soothingly to Clarie.

"What if she returns to her action and you're too late to help me?" asked Clarie breathlessly.

Lucas immediately hugged the girl and whispered reassuring words so that Clarie wouldn't have to worry about what would happen in the future. Lucas promised that he would protect the girl.

"I will always be by your side, Clarie, and you will be safe with me," Lucas said into the crook of the girl's neck.

The man's words didn't calm her down at all. She would not be able to calm down if the woman was still waltzing freely out there. She didn't know what else the woman plans to do to get rid of herself later. It seemed to be a frightening threat to Clarie.

"Is it because she was angry to know about our relationship and intends to get rid of me?" Clarie asked, which instantly made the man in front of her fall silent.
