Chapter 333
Chapter 333
Emily's calm demeanor caught everyone off guard; even Alexander seemed momentarily stunned.
He quickly regained his composure, his gaze falling on the DNA test results.
"Hand it over," he said firmly.
If he opened it himself, regardless of the outcome, he would acknowledge the children's identity. Then no one could deny it.
"I'll look at it myself," Natalie said, picking up the manila envelope and opening it.
Alexander's brow furrowed as he instinctively stepped forward to take it, but Emily caught his arm.
He automatically looked down at her, only to see her gently shaking her head.
"This is the perfect moment," she said quietly.
"What?" His frown deepened, not understanding her meaning.
Emily didn't explain.
If Alexander opened it and announced the results, neither Sophie nor Victoria would believe it. The reverse would be equally true.
But Natalie was different.
She wouldn't favor either side in this matter. What she cared about was whether the Foster bloodline had been compromised, making her the most impartial person in this situation.
This simple logic wasn't lost on Alexander, but the children's identity had clouded his judgment.
Sophie and Victoria exchanged glances before crowding around Natalie, looking at the test results as everyone else peered over.
Natalie opened the envelope, unfolded the document, and didn't bother reading through the various comparisons, flipping directly to the last page for the conclusion.
"The children are Alexander's!" she announced with a smile. "I knew it. Those bright, clever children look exactly like he did as a child. How could they not be his?"
"Impossible!" Alexander and Sophie spoke simultaneously, both clearly shocked by the result.
"What do you mean, impossible?" Natalie's expression cooled as she shot Sophie a cutting look. "The DNA test is right here. The children belong to our family, yet you say such things? After all this drama, were you trying to prevent us from bringing our Foster children home?"
"You just said children should stay with their mother," Emily said, her brow furrowing.
The result was exactly what she had expected, so she wasn't surprised.
What truly mattered to her was whether the children would remain with her.
"Of course," Natalie replied.
To Emily's surprise, the woman who had never liked her now wore a hint of a smile, looking at her with newfound warmth.
"Haven't you moved back to the villa? The most important thing is for your family to live well together. But bringing the children to the Foster Mansion during holidays is only appropriate, isn't it?"
"How is this possible?" Victoria still hadn't recovered, snatching the test results. After reviewing them, she turned to Sophie. "The children really are my brother's. Why did you say she had miscarried and the children weren't his?"
Natalie didn't want to completely destroy both families' dignity, but at this point, some things couldn't be overlooked.
She pulled Victoria to her side with a warning look, maintaining a polite smile. "No matter how wonderful Sophie is, she and your brother have ended their engagement. In the future, you should have less contact with her."
"Sophie, I've watched you grow up, and you've always been exceptional. It's unfortunate that Alexander didn't have such good fortune—you two weren't meant to be."
Having grown up in high society and moving in wealthy circles, Natalie could easily see through Sophie's schemes.
Compared to Emily, Sophie's background might have made her more suitable for Alexander.
Plus, Sophie was sweet-tongued and humble, so Natalie had previously turned a blind eye.
But times had changed, and many things were different now.
Ignoring Sophie's stunned expression, she turned to Alexander. "Emily has suffered greatly. You need to handle this properly, preventing further rumors and ensuring the children aren't affected..."
Alexander barely heard her words, his mind in complete disarray.
Hadn't he been told that their children were gone? How were Maurice and Jasmine suddenly his children?
No wonder he felt an immediate connection the first time he saw them. Even though he despised any man who got close to Emily...
He sharply turned to look at Emily, who touched her nose nervously, clearly feeling guilty.
She had deceived him!
"I understand," Alexander said in a low voice, taking Emily's hand and striding toward the exit.
Victoria was still processing everything. "Why doesn't my brother look happy? Does he actually want to raise someone else's children?"
"Shut up!" Alexander had reached the elevator but turned back to glare at her. "Say another word, and I'll freeze your cards until next year!"
As the elevator doors closed, leaving only Alexander and Emily inside, she felt the atmosphere grow tense, making it difficult even to breathe.
"Alexander, you..."
"I'm furious right now. You'd better think carefully about how to explain this," he cut her off.
Why was he angry? He had been the one who abandoned her. What right did he have to act like he'd been deceived?
"What's this? Was Victoria right? Do you actually prefer raising someone else's children...."
Alexander pushed her against the elevator wall and kissed her deeply.
Ever since seeing her again, he had sensed something between them, as if everything they once had was gone.
But now everything was different.
The existence of their children created an unbreakable bond between them for life.
The fact that she had given birth to his children under such difficult circumstances proved her feelings for him.
Just thinking about the hardships she must have endured made his heart ache.
Only when the elevator doors had opened and closed several times did he finally release her. "Emily, the children are mine?"
She leaned against the elevator wall, breathing heavily, her mind still confused.
Hearing his question, she let out a cold laugh. "No, I've said from the beginning that the children aren't yours...."
He kissed her hard again before pulling her tightly into his arms. "I knew it. You still care about me."
"Emily, I was wrong. I'll never do anything to hurt you again."
"Come on, let's go get Maurice and Jasmine. I want to tell everyone they're my children."
He was as excited as a child, completely different from his cold demeanor when he had pulled her into the elevator.
Emily couldn't understand what was going through his mind, struggling to keep up with his rapidly shifting thoughts.
"You're accepting this so easily?" she asked.
"Why wouldn't I? They're my children—our children." He pulled her out of the elevator, excitedly telling everyone they passed, "Say hello to my wife!"
The Foster Pharmaceuticals employees had never seen Alexander so emotionally expressive, but intimidated by their boss, they obediently looked at Emily. "Mrs. Foster!"
For a few seconds, Emily felt like she was in a dream.
In all their time together, when had Alexander ever openly acknowledged her status?
Was this because of the children?
She suddenly kicked him in the shin. "Alexander, I had no idea you cared so much about having children. If that's what you wanted, why didn't you marry Sophie sooner? Three years would have been enough time for you two to have a couple of your own."
