All three of them sat at the dining table for breakfast as the maid served them. The maid carefully laid down the trays containing the food.
Adrian was fully dressed in a black suit, ready for work. Lisa was dressed in a colorful vintage gown, which was made sexy by the slim lines and dozens of buttons that ran from the bust to a short split above the hem. The dress was quick enough to be mistaken for a shirt.
Tyler was dressed in his bathrobe, and he was still unsure about his plans for the day. All he wanted at the moment was to see Adrian’s girlfriend. He was willing to wait as long as it took.
"When next is your girlfriend coming over?" Tyler asked Adrian in an offhand manner,
"Which of them?" Adrian asked with a crooked smile expecting both Lisa and Tyler to laugh at his joke, but none of them did. They enjoyed watching him squirm for their laugnter.
"The one you're getting married to, Victoria," Tyler said with a straight face. Adrian was tempted to ask him why he was asking. From the look on his face, Adrian could tell Tyler wasn't pleased with him, so he decided to answer.
"She will be visiting my mother today, but I could invite her over later in the day or tomorrow if you want me to," He offered with a smile. He didn't like the idea that Tyler was angry with him. Tyler wasn't just his best friend, Tyler was a brother, and it was thanks to Tyler that his business was doing so well.
Tyler considered the offer for a second. He didn't want Adrian to be around when he talked with her. "I would prefer you just send my number to her and ask her to call me," Tyler said as he ate.
Adrian wondered what Tyler wanted to discuss with Victoria. Why was everyone
• around him interested in Victoria? He would rather Tyler stayed away from Victoria. The only person he wanted Tyler to like was Mira, not Victoria.
"Is there a problem? Did she do something wrong?" Adrian asked Tyler feigning a worried frown.
"What is wrong with getting to know my best friend's intended bride?" Tyler asked cocking his brows.
Lisa ate with her ears wide open, and she didn't want to be in the middle of this exchange. She had questions she needed to ask Adrian, but she couldn't do so in the presence of Tyler . He had asked her to mind her business after all.
"What's your plan for today?" Tyler suddenly asked Lisa .
"I thought you wouldn't ask," She said with a smile, "I'll make my first stop at the modeling agency. I have to go through the terms of the contract today with my manager, and after that, I'll need you to accompany me to check out the remaining houses with Hayes Mira,” Lisa said, looking at Adrian to see his reaction.
Adrian kept eating without raising his head.
He was sure Tyler would like Mira and would come back to plead with him to reconsider marrying her instead of Victoria. He smiled as he thought of it.
"Ok, just call me when you're ready to check the houses," Tyler said, rising from the table.
"How about we hang out at our spot later in the evening? It's been a long time since we last did that," Adrian said, looking at Tyler. He knew he didn't have to tell Tyler not to mention anything to Mira. Tyler was his man and would never betray him.
"That's cool. You can meet me there when you close from work," Tyler said without looking back.
Lisa turned to Adrian when Tyler disappeared from view. "You are done with Hayes? But why? She is such a lovely person." Lisa whined.
"It is complicated, I wish I could explain it all to you, but you won't understand," Adrian said apologetically. "You know you can't tell her anything, right?" He asked, just to be sure,
"Yea, I do. And even if I didn't, Tyler already made it clear I wasn't to say jack," She said sadly.
Adrian stood up, satisfied. His plan was still intact. He could only hope his mother acted fast and threatened Victoria out of his life.
If there was one thing Adrian had learned from her mother's wise ways, it was that drivers knew more about their bosses than anyone else. That was one reason she had always been careful around her driver.
But she could use that knowledge against Adrian; all she had to do was form an ally with his driver. She could offer him money, double his salary even, and in exchange, he would give her every information about his boss that she desired.
She wouldn't even have to pay anybody to follow him; who would fit that position better than his driver? All she wanted was
sufficient information about him, his pregnant girlfriend, Tyler, and the other twats.
Now all she needed to do was devise a means to get in close contact with Adrian’s driver. She needed to meet with him secretly without suspicion.
Victoria stood in front of the full-length mirror at the boutique; she had gone mini-shopping for a suitable outfit to meet Adrian’s mother. Rich people were always conscious of what other people were wearing, and she didn't want to feel intimidated by the woman.
She knew Adrian wasn't on excellent terms with his mother, even though she didn't know why. Maybe she could make his mother like her very well and accept her into the family.
She had told Adrian’s driver to pick her up from there.
Her phone beeped, and she tapped on the screen; it was a text from Adrian. Her heart raced when she saw the message, it was Tyler’s number with an instruction to call him.
She thought she was done with him; What did he want to say to her again? Was he going to start blackmailing her or something?
She suddenly felt very nervous; either way, she would lose her friendship with Mira from the look of things. Maybe it would be best if she just hurried up everything. That way, she would at least be married to Adrian before everything was exposed.
She swallowed nervously as she glanced at her screen. She had to talk to Mira soon...
Mira would understand; she was very sure. For now, all she had to do was avoid Tyler. She would avoid him until she spoke to Mira.
