My Father Is The Worst Man Alive.

My Father Is The Worst Man Alive.

Ace – Point of View

“Where is Ivan? You’ve got to know where he is.” I said, looking at Ashley, who was a mess.

She had been here for a few days now, under the attention of Cateleya, who had not held back. Now, Ashley was basically less skin and more bones. She also smelled really badly. I would have thought Cateleya would have sent someone to clean her up, but here we were.

“Fuck you.” Ashley snarled weakly, and I frowned, confused.

“I admire your spirit, Ashley. In another life, it would have been wonderful if you hadn’t betrayed us. In another life, it would have been wonderful if we had stuck together till the end, but we are not in another life. This is the only life we get, and in this life, you killed the Pakhan, you killed Ace’s father. Your choices led you here, but you still have some choices in you. Give us what we want and tell us what you want.” Spades said convincingly.

“There has to be something you want, something you desperately wished you’d done. Well, we can still do it for you. Consider it as a final gift before we kill you. I won’t even let Cateleya kill you. I might even do it myself, make it clean and fast. I am showing you more mercy than you’ve ever shown us. More mercy than your partners have ever shown you. Do you think they don’t know where you are? They do, they just don’t care.” He informed her with a shrug.

She groaned, and I frowned at her.

“I don’t know where Ivan is, but I know something you don’t.” She said painfully, taking her time to speak, as though the words were heavy and she had no strength.

“Do tell.” I urged.

“Lee is your father, Spades.” She said, and my frown deepened.

“We really don’t have time to waste, Ashley.” Spades scoffed, folding his arms.

“I’m not lying. He is your biological father. Ask your mother. He is your father. The story is long and boring, but he is your father. Isn’t it ironic? Lee spent his entire life trying to get the throne. He sold his daughter to a man who didn’t want her, he killed innocent people, including the man he claimed was his best friend, and he ruined so many lives, just for you to be his true son. Through you, through your inevitable marriage to Ace, he could have gotten all he wanted, but instead, he decided to play God.” She shook her head, her face contorted in agony.

I looked at Spades, gauging his reaction. I’d had my suspicion for a while. Lee and Spades looked similar in a certain light. Nina and Spades looked alike half the time. I’d never read too much into it, but it was funny that the truth was right in front of us. Lee treated Spades like shit all his life, not knowing he was being shitty to his only son.

“How long have you known?” Spades asked her, his tone was monotone and devoid of emotion.

“A while. It was supposed to be my final card when Lee turned on me. In a way, I guess you are the lesser of two evils.” She smiled sadly, her eyes clouding over, and I sighed, loathing what Lee had done to us.

I cleared my throat, “You have a little sister, don’t you? Caroline. She is sixteen.” I pulled out my final card, and her eyes widened, fear flooding her.

“No!”

“Calm down. I don’t harm women and children. Lee does. He hurt me when I was five. What do you think he’ll do to your sixteen-year-old sister, who is a replica of you? You know what I mean.” I said, hating myself for taking this route, but it was the truth. Lee was vermin.

“I’ve told you all I can!” She said, panicked, and I nodded.

“Yes, but you are too useful to die.”

“What do you want me to do?”

Spades exhaled, “You’ll be taken to a part of the estate where doctors will fix you. You must heal quickly because we don’t have enough time. Lee is looking for your sister, so I’ll send some of Cateleya’s agents to her. She’ll be brought here overnight. You’ll probably see her in the morning. I need you ready to move. We need to find Ivan, then narrow down Lee’s location. Ivan shouldn’t be too hard to find, but we need you to find Lee. Can you do that?”

“My – my sister will be safe?”

“Yes, your sister will be safe,” I assured her, and she sighed deeply, then whispered, tearfully.

“I am so sorry, Ace. I’m so fucking sorry about your Dad.”

“You want to atone? Then, begin, but know that if you try to snitch on us or move funny, I won’t hesitate to kill you. We won’t kill your sister, but we will make her wish she were dead. Stick to the plan, and your sister will never know suffering. I am a man of my word, and you know that.” Spades snapped, and she nodded.

“Good.” I nodded, took Spades’ hand and led him out of the smelly dungeon.

“Hey,” I whispered when we got to the grounds.

He looked at me, fury in his eyes.

“He has to pay for everything he has done.” He whispered, and I nodded.

“And him being your father changes nothing?”

“It changes nothing, Ace. Don’t you understand? He had every chance to be my father, and he wasn’t. Sergei was more of a father to me than he was. We are all just pawns to him, puppets on a string. He made a mess of everything. He killed so many people. He ruined so many lives. He tried to ruin ours, and something tells me he is not done. Something tells me he is going to come for us one more time, but I wonder if we can survive it this time.” He frowned.

I shook my head, “I’ll let the world burn for you, Spades. I’ll walk through fire.”
