Chapter 26 Do you like him?
Chapter 26 Do you like him?
TAILA POV
I paced up and down my room, my hands kept running into my hair, my fingers tugging at the strands as my thoughts spun wildly. A lot was on my mind, should I believe Liam or Zane, who should I believe, I thought as I kept pacing up and down my room, my chest rising and falling unevenly.
The door opened suddenly and Liam stepped in. I let out a sigh, my shoulders dropping as I fell onto my bed, the weight of everything pressing down on me.
“Are you here to go on and on about how you doubt me and this is all about Zane’s plan,” I muttered, my voice tired as I let out another sigh, my hand dragging across my face.
“I’m not here for that,” he replied, walking in slowly. A smirk appeared on his face and I knew something was going on, my brows pulling together as unease crept in.
“Then why are you here?” I questioned, crossing my legs, my arms folding tightly against my chest.
“I want to show you something, something that will show you who the real Zane is,” he revealed, his voice dropping low as he closed the space between us, his presence suddenly overwhelming.
“I’m not interested,” I replied, resting my head on the headboard as I rolled my eyes away, my lips pressing into a thin line.
“You don’t want to know the truth any longer,” he murmured.
“Truth about what,” I asked, still not looking at him, my gaze fixed elsewhere, my fingers gripping the bedsheet slightly. Not looking at him.
“I’ve been telling you about Zane, he isn’t interested in you, he’s only interested in the treaty,” he continued, his tone firm.
“Like I care, you’ve said this a lot of times. I don’t care, I don’t want to be part of your game,” I snapped, my eyes meeting his briefly before I looked away again, irritation flashing across my face.
“Fine, if you’re not interested then let’s drop it. Come with me, Zane asked me to take you somewhere,” he added.
“Where?” I asked, looking at him, my brows knitting together.
“He said I shouldn’t reveal the location, you’ll see him there,” Liam responded, his gaze steady.
“And you think I’ll follow you, so you can lie to Zane that I’m fucking obsessed with you,” I shot back, my lips curling slightly in disbelief.
“It’s your choice, Talia. Don’t say I didn’t tell you,” he muttered before turning slowly and walking out of the room.
I sat up on the bed, my lips parting slightly but nothing came out. What if he’s telling the truth, I thought, my brows tightening as doubt crept in again.
I got up and quickly changed my clothes, my movements rushed and restless. I picked up my purse and ran my fingers through my hair, letting it fall down my back, my heart still beating faster than normal.
I walked out of my room with the thought of going to Liam’s room, but my steps slowed down when I saw him leaning against the wall opposite me. My brows pulled together slightly as I stopped, my heart giving a small, unexpected thud at the sight of him.
“You came,” he said, straightening up, his posture shifting as his eyes locked onto mine.
I forced a small smile, even though something about this didn’t sit right with me. “Since Zane asked you to take me somewhere, why wouldn’t I come?” I replied, trying to keep my tone casual.
“Good,” he responded, turning and walking ahead without waiting for me.
I hesitated for a second before following him slowly. We stepped out of the mansion, and as we walked, the guards bowed their heads the moment they saw us. Their reactions didn’t go unnoticed, but I ignored it, keeping my focus ahead.
“She looks better with Alpha Liam than with Alpha Zane,” one of the maids whispered to another.
My steps faltered slightly.
I turned my head just enough to catch her gaze. Our eyes met briefly before she quickly looked away, her expression stiff, almost scared.
A strange feeling settled in my chest, but I pushed it aside.
Liam helped me into the car, doing something Zane wouldn’t normally do. The gesture caught me off guard, but I didn’t say anything. He walked around, got into the driver’s seat, and drove off.
The drive was quiet.
Too quiet.
Neither of us spoke.
Liam kept glancing at me from time to time, his grip tightening slightly on the steering wheel, while I stared ahead, lost in my thoughts. A part of me didn’t want to believe him, but another part… another part needed to see this for myself.
I had to prove him wrong.
The car tires screeched slightly as we drove into a motel.
I turned to him immediately, my nose scrunching in disgust as I looked around. “A motel? Really, Liam?” I asked, disbelief clear in my voice. I shook my head slightly. “I didn’t even know places like this still existed.”
He didn’t respond.
Instead, he got out of the car and walked over to my side, opening the door for me.
“I’m about to show you something you’ll definitely hate,” he said, his tone unreadable as he reached out and pulled me gently out of the car.
My brows furrowed.
I didn’t understand what he meant, but I didn’t resist. I let him guide me, my curiosity now mixed with unease.
I followed him into the motel, my heels clicking softly against the floor as we walked down a narrow hallway. The air felt different here—heavier, uncomfortable.
We climbed up the stairs.
My chest tightened slightly with every step.
“Don’t say I didn’t tell you,” he muttered, his voice low as he stopped in front of a door.
My brows pulled together.
My eyes followed his hand as he reached forward and pushed the door open.
I stepped in, and then I saw it.
My breath caught instantly. On the balcony, with two other girls, was Zane.
My heart dropped so fast it felt like it hit the ground.
My eyes widened as I froze in place, my body going completely still.
The sounds hit me next. I heard ow, breathy moans filled the air.
My stomach twisted violently.
It was Zane.
He was the one touching them, his hands moving over their bodies like it was nothing, like it meant nothing.
My fingers curled slowly at my sides, my nails digging into my palms as my chest rose and fell unevenly.
I couldn’t look away, I didn’t want to believe it.
But I was seeing it. Right in front of me.
A sharp pain spread through my chest, tightening with every second I stood there.
So this was the truth.
This was who he really was.
My lips parted slightly, but no words came out.
Only silence.
And the crushing weight of betrayal settling deep inside me.
