Chapter 17 A night with his Luna
LIAM POV
“Wha..what do you mean by that…?” she whispered, her voice trembling, and it only made me harder inside her.
“Shh…” I breathed against her lips before crashing mine onto hers again, tasting the alcohol lingering there, mixing with my own hunger.
“Fuck…” I groaned, pulling back just enough to drag in a breath before thrusting into her again, deeper this time. My grip tightened on her hips as I felt her body respond, soft gasps spilling from her lips.
I could tell, I was the only one she had been with since everything that happened by the lake. The thought twisted something possessive inside me. She was still so damn beautiful… untouched in a way that made my chest tighten.
I couldn’t get enough of her.
A slow smile tugged at my lips as I continued thrusting, my body moving against hers in a steady rhythm. I had been a coward… letting Zane take her, letting my pride push my mate away.
Never again.
“Mm…” she breathed, her nails digging into my back, her body arching into mine. The slight sting only drove me harder. I pushed deeper, feeling the pressure coil tight in my lower stomach.
“Ahh…” I groaned, my head falling back slightly as I tried and failed to hold on. It was already too late.
With a sharp inhale, I stilled for a second before releasing inside her, my body tensing as the pleasure hit hard. My eyes fluttered shut as I dropped beside her on the bed, my chest rising and falling heavily.
The sun slipped through the window, warm rays brushing across my face.
I stirred, blinking slowly before opening my eyes. Beside me, Talia lay sleeping soundly, her breathing soft and steady. My gaze lingered on her for a moment, something unreadable flickering in my chest.
Then I sat up.
I scanned the room, Last night came rushing back, and my jaw tightened. I had to leave before Zane returned. Thankfully… he hadn’t been in the mansion last night.
Good.
I grabbed my clothes, quickly getting dressed before slipping out of the room. I paused at the door, glancing back at Talia one last time, then shut it quietly.
I hurried down the hall and pushed open my bedroom door, i froze on seeing Enzo
“Enzo…?”
My brows furrowed as I stared at him packing up and down the room.
“Enzo,” I called again, my voice sharper this time.
He turned immediately, his face lighting up with a smile before he dropped to his knees in front of me.
“Alpha, you’re back.”
“Get up,” I said, my tone firm. I stepped further into the room, dropping my clothes onto the bed before sitting down. “Have you been here all night?”
“Yes, Alpha,” Enzo replied, bowing his head again.
I leaned forward slightly, resting my elbows on my knees as I studied him. “What do you want to say?”
He hesitated… then stepped closer.
“Why did you do that, Alpha?” he asked quietly, his eyes searching mine.
I grabbed my pants and pulled them on, my expression hardening. “Do what?” I asked, my voice low and controlled.
Enzo swallowed before speaking again.
“The human… how did she end up with Alpha Zane?”
“Isn’t he the one who marked her?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, my jaw tightening as the words left my mouth.
Enzo’s eyes furrowed, his expression darkening. “We both know Alpha Zane wasn’t the one who truly marked her,” he said, his tone firm, almost challenging.
“Let’s drop the topic, Enzo,” I muttered, leaning back against the bed, dragging a hand down my face.
“Why, Alpha?” he pressed, stepping closer, confusion flashing across his features. “If you’re the one who truly marked her… then why did you leave her to Alpha Zane? You know what he’s capable of. You know how he’s going to treat her.”
His words hit harder than I expected.
“I had to,” I said, my voice strained. I exhaled sharply, my chest rising and falling as I tried to steady myself. “I had to, Enzo… I had to.” My voice dropped, low… almost broken.
Enzo stared at me, his brows knitting together. “Why, Alpha? I don’t understand what you’re doing,” he said, shaking his head slightly. “You could have claimed her. The moment she reacted to you instead of Alpha Zane, Alpha Derek would have gladly given her to you.”
“You don’t understand, Enzo,” I snapped, turning to face him fully, my eyes hard.
“Of course I don’t!” he shot back, frustration creeping into his voice. “That’s why I’m asking you, Alpha. Make me understand.”
I let out a deep breath, my shoulders dropping slightly as I looked away.
“If I claimed Talia in front of Zane…” I began slowly, my fingers curling into the sheets, “Zane would do anything to get back at me. And how would he do that?” I paused, my jaw clenching. “Through her.”
Enzo’s expression shifted, realization flickering—but he still wasn’t convinced.
“Isn’t that the same thing?” he asked carefully, stepping closer. “With him claiming her, won’t her life still be in danger?”
“She’s better off if he claims her,” I said quietly, though the words tasted bitter. I rubbed the back of my neck, tension coiling tight in my body. “At least her life will be… safer.”
Enzo’s confusion deepened, his gaze searching my face.
“Zane cares about his image,” I continued, my tone colder now. “Even if he does something to Talia, he won’t punish her severely. Not where people can see. Not where it ruins how he looks.”
I stood up slowly, pacing once before stopping.
“But me?” I let out a dry, humorless breath. “Zane cares too much about his ego. If I take her from him… he won’t just hurt her, he’ll make sure she suffers.”
Silence fell between us.
Enzo swallowed. “What if he does more than that? What if he doesn’t care about his ego this time?”
My eyes darkened instantly.
“Then I’ll have his head separated from his body,” I said coldly, my teeth grinding together as the words came out like a promise.
