Chapter 47
Susie was now fully awake.
To avoid waking Matt beside her, she moved very gently.
Slowly getting up, Susie walked barefoot across the cool and expensive marble floor.
She was wearing Matt's shirt, with nothing on below.
Susie decided to go to the kitchen first and make herself a cup of coffee to calm down.
The buzzing sound of the coffee machine seemed extra loud in the quiet environment.
Susie kept glancing toward the bedroom, afraid of disturbing the person sleeping soundly.
There was no movement from the bedroom.
Susie carried her freshly made coffee and walked to the balcony.
The sunlight glowed with a soft golden color, gradually breaking through the darkness on the horizon and becoming clearer.
A breeze gently brushed across her face.
She took a small sip of the coffee in her cup and frowned slightly.
This hot black coffee without milk or sugar was really bitter.
After a while, the sun on the horizon seemed to become even clearer and brighter.
"What a surprise, you're here watching the sunrise too." Gian's voice came from behind.
Susie didn't turn around, still drinking the coffee in her cup.
"Though I wouldn't have thought you were the type to get up early just to watch the sunrise." Susie turned her head to look at Gian beside her.
"But today, I suddenly felt like watching it," Gian said slowly.
Susie slowly curved her lips into a smile. "If that's really true, then I'd say you must be quite a romantic person."
Gian leaned back against the railing with his back to the balcony, positioned perfectly to chat face-to-face with Susie.
"Are you okay?" Gian asked.
Susie hesitated for a moment, but still nodded. "I'm okay, just thinking about some things."
Gian nodded, seeming ready to listen.
"I know very well that I probably don't belong in this world, but I seem to have fallen hopelessly in love with Matt."
Susie bravely expressed herself.
"I want to see him sleeping safely beside me every day."
Susie stared at the rising sun as she spoke slowly.
Gian nodded, not interrupting Susie's words.
Susie continued, "I don't trust anyone except myself to protect his safety for the long term."
As she spoke, Susie suddenly laughed.
She probably found it a bit ridiculous herself.
She took a sip of the coffee in her cup, trying hard to calm her emotions.
"I can't even allow anyone to hurt him or covet him. I don't know if you can understand what I'm saying."
Susie turned to look at Gian.
Gian was silent for a moment, then said, "I think you must be in love."
"Don't talk nonsense." Susie rolled her eyes at Gian.
But she still said seriously to Gian, "Still, Gian, I have to thank you. On this beautiful morning, instead of wholeheartedly enjoying the beautiful sunrise, you're listening to me say these ridiculous things."
"Not at all, I'm lucky to hear these things." Gian leaned back and took a sip of the coffee in his cup, saying, "I've even noticed that he's been different lately, too."
Susie didn't respond to Gian's words, just listened quietly.
"The feeling he gives me is that life seems more worth enjoying now, not just power and bloodshed and all those boring things, but with a lot more interesting stuff added."
Gian said, looking at Susie, "I should even thank that ridiculous kidnapping for giving him the chance to start experiencing a different life."
Susie was suddenly amused by Gian's words. "You mean when I tied him to the bed?"
"Exactly!" Gian laughed in agreement. "You were really bold."
"But I didn't know his identity at that time. Okay, I admit I was reckless." Susie laughed.
"He was forced to take over the family business at a very young age, as you know. So, all along, he's been doing his best to play the part of an adult, constantly observing to prove he wasn't young, wasn't reckless, and was fully capable of being a mafia boss. But now, or more precisely since you appeared, everything seems different."
Gian took a sip of the now completely cold coffee in his cup before continuing, "Now he seems to finally have something he truly treasures."
The door behind them had been opened at some point.
Matt stood there quietly.
He seemed to have just woken up.
His hair was messy, his upper body bare, wearing only sleep pants.
But even so, in the morning light, his six-pack abs seemed covered with a layer of golden glow, looking very tempting.
Susie seemed unable to take her eyes off Matt.
Gian was somewhat helpless. "At least there's still someone here, aren't you two being a bit much."
Susie's gaze remained fixed on Matt, but she asked Gian beside her, "Tell me, where should I start first?"
Matt cooperated with his little wildcat, letting her mess around.
Gian couldn't help but whistle excitedly. "This is really getting good."
Susie casually stuffed the cup of cold, bitter, undrinkable black coffee into Gian's hand, her finger lightly hooking Matt's waistband.
"Gian, I'm guessing you should have something else to do right now." Susie reminded Gian.
The two of them were about to do something not suitable for children.
"I'm giving you three seconds to leave," Matt said to Gian.
This wasn't a warning, but an order.
"Alright." Gian stood up from the railing with a helpless expression.
"Unfortunately, I won't be able to continue enjoying this beautiful sunrise on the balcony."
"Gian!" Matt's tone was full of warning.
"I think I should go check on our breakfast now."
Gian made up a random excuse, then closed the balcony door.
Susie's gaze returned to Matt.
The tempting glow of sunlight on his body still hadn't faded; his sweatpants sat extremely low, as if they might fall off at any second.
Susie gently tugged at the drawstring of Matt's pants, saying, "I think you could come a little closer to me."
Under Susie's guidance, Matt sat down on the wide, soft chair on the balcony.
His legs spread apart, pulling Susie into his arms.
He leaned close to Susie's ear and said softly, "Is this close enough?"
"Let's enjoy the sunrise together," Susie said.
