Chapter 125 Where is my Son?

Chapter 125 Where is my Son?

Naomi knew something was wrong the moment she stepped out of the car.

The gate was open.

She frowned, clutching her handbag tighter as she walked into the compound. The house felt louder than usual. Voices overlapping, hurried footsteps, a tension in the air that made her stomach tighten instinctively.

Before she even reached the front door, one of the housemaids came running toward her.

“Madam Naomi!” the girl cried, eyes wide with panic. “Thank God you’re back!”

Naomi’s heart skipped. “What’s wrong?”

Behind her, two other servants hovered, whispering urgently to each other.

Naomi dropped her bag.

“Where is Charles?” she asked sharply.

That silence was enough to knock the air out of her lungs.

“Where is my son?” she repeated, voice rising.

The nanny’s name spilled out in a rush. “Madam, the new nanny… she took Master Charles for a walk this afternoon, just around the estate like usual, but…”

“But what?” Naomi snapped.

“She hasn’t returned,” the housekeeper said weakly.

The world tilted.

Naomi grabbed the edge of the console table to steady herself. “How long?”

“Two hours,” someone whispered.

Two hours.

Her chest tightened painfully.

“Did anyone follow her?” Naomi demanded. “Did anyone call her phone?”

“She’s not picking up,” the maid said, tears pooling in her eyes. “Madam, we didn’t think…”

Naomi didn’t wait to hear the rest.

Her hands shook as she pulled out her phone, dialing Lucas before she even realized she was moving.

He picked up on the first ring.

“Naomi?”

Her voice cracked. “Lucas… Charles is missing.”

The silence on the other end was immediate and heavy.

“What do you mean missing?” Lucas asked, his tone sharp now, all warmth gone.

“The nanny took him out,” Naomi said quickly, panic spilling over. “She hasn’t come back. No one can reach her. I just got home—”

“I’m on my way,” Lucas cut in. “Stay calm. Lock the gates. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

The call ended.

Naomi slid down onto the couch, her legs giving out beneath her. One of the maids knelt beside her, murmuring apologies, but Naomi barely heard her.

Her mind raced.

Kidnapping.

Ransom.

Every horrible headline she’d ever read flashed before her eyes.

“This is my fault,” she whispered. “I should’ve been home earlier.”

“No, Madam,” the housekeeper said frantically. “Please don’t say that.”

Naomi stood abruptly. “Where is her file? The nanny’s file. Bring it to me now.”

They scrambled.

By the time Lucas arrived, the house looked like a storm had passed through it.

Servants stood frozen against the walls. Naomi paced the living room like a caged animal, phone clutched tightly in her hand.

Lucas walked in, eyes scanning the room before locking onto her.

“Talk to me,” he said, pulling her into his arms briefly.

“She’s gone,” Naomi said, voice trembling. “Charles is gone. Lucas, what if…”

“Hey,” he said firmly, cupping her face. “Look at me. We’ll find him.”

She nodded shakily. “The nanny… she was vetted, right?”

“Yes,” Lucas replied, but something flickered in his eyes. “But I’ll confirm everything.”

He turned to the head housekeeper. “I want every camera feed. Inside and outside. Now.”

“Yes, sir.”

Lucas took Naomi’s hand, guiding her to sit. “Has anyone called yet? Any message?”

She shook her head. “Nothing.”

Minutes stretched like hours.

Then one of the guards rushed in, breathless. “Sir… we found something.”

Lucas stood. “Speak.”

“The nanny’s phone location,” the guard said. “It pinged about twenty minutes ago.”

“Where?” Naomi asked desperately.

The guard hesitated. “At the old Bellmont residence.”

Lucas froze.

Naomi frowned. “Bellmont? Isn’t that…”

Lucas’s jaw tightened. “My grandmother’s house.”

The room fell silent.

Naomi stared at him. “Your… paternal grandmother?”

“Yes.”

“But,” Naomi said slowly, confusion cutting through her panic, “you haven’t spoken to her in years.”

Lucas let out a slow breath. “Neither has my mother.”

“Then why would…”

Realization dawned.

Naomi’s blood ran cold. “She took Charles there?”

Lucas didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he turned to the guard. “Get the car ready.”

Naomi stood. “Lucas, what’s going on?”

He looked at her then, eyes dark with something close to anger. “My grandmother always believed my mother ruined the family. When I married you… when Charles was born… she sent messages.”

Naomi’s heart pounded. “Messages saying what?”

“That she wanted proof,” Lucas said tightly. “That Charles was truly my blood.”

Naomi felt like she’d been slapped.

“She had no right,” she whispered.

“I know,” Lucas said. “Which is why I cut her off.”

They drove in silence, Naomi’s fingers clenched tightly around Lucas’s hand.

When the gates of the Bellmont estate came into view, Naomi’s stomach churned.

The house loomed large and imposing, frozen in time.

The nanny stood by the entrance, looking pale and terrified.

Lucas slammed the car door shut and strode toward her.

“Where is my son?” he demanded.

The nanny burst into tears. “I’m sorry, sir. She said it was just a visit. She said she had permission.”

“From who?” Naomi shouted.

“From your grandmother,” the nanny sobbed. “She said she was family.”

Lucas didn’t waste another second.

They were ushered inside.

Naomi heard it before she saw it.

Charles’s laughter.

Her legs nearly buckled with relief.

She rushed forward, scooping her son into her arms, holding him so tightly he squirmed.

“Mama!” Charles giggled, tugging at her hair.

Naomi pressed kisses into his curls, tears streaming freely now. “My baby. My baby.”

A voice cut through the moment.

“You’re being dramatic.”

Naomi looked up.

The woman standing across the room was elegant, cold, and unmistakably Lucas’s blood.

His grandmother.

“You had no right,” Naomi said, shaking with fury.

The older woman’s eyes flicked to her dismissively before settling on Lucas. “I had every right. That child carries my blood.”

Lucas stepped forward. “You kidnapped my son.”

“I invited my grandson,” she corrected. “For confirmation.”

Naomi’s voice trembled. “Confirmation of what?”

The woman gestured toward a folder on the table. “The DNA results will be ready by morning.”

Lucas went still.

“You ran a DNA test without my consent?” he asked.

“I needed certainty,” she replied calmly. “You married against family advice. Your mother has always been… reckless.”

That was it.

Lucas laughed, sharp and humorless. “You haven’t spoken to my mother in years because she refused to let you control her.”

“And now look at you,” the grandmother said. “Married to a designer. A child already.”

Naomi bristled. “I am his wife.”

The woman glanced at her. “For now.”

Lucas stepped between them. “You will never see my son again.”

The grandmother’s lips thinned. “If the test proves…”

“It doesn’t matter,” Lucas snapped. “Blood doesn’t give you ownership.”

Naomi clutched Charles closer.

Lucas turned to the guards. “We’re leaving.”

As they walked out, Naomi didn’t look back.

Outside, Lucas exhaled shakily, his anger melting into relief as he touched Charles’s head.

“I’m sorry,” he said softly to Naomi. “I should’ve known she’d try something.”

Naomi shook her head. “We found him. That’s what matters.”
