Chapter 43 I have to fix this!

Chapter 43 I have to fix this!
Theo
“Arrghh!” I groaned as I sank into the chair and buried my head in my hands.
I’ve been so worried since the whole issue at the house. Grace left and I haven’t been the same since then. I haven’t even been able to reach her since then. I’ve been so scared and embarrassed to call her and that’s really killing me.
I want to hear her voice and explain things to her but I just can’t. I know she’s mad at me and feels betrayed, and I can’t fault her for feeling that way. Everything that went down makes it look like she was fooled by me and I lied about it all.
I saw her face that day, she kept looking at me, hoping that I would step in and deny the allegations but I didn’t. I couldn’t do anything because it wasn’t a lie.
Matt wasn’t entirely lying but he definitely ruined everything. After Grace had walked out in anger, I faced Matt but there was really little to nothing I could do at that point. My dad and Evelyn kept warning me to start another fight so I had to just walk away.
I wasn’t surprised when I realized the next day that my dad had frozen my remaining assets tied to the family trust. That didn’t bother me at all, I never cared for it anyway. I didn’t get the money when I needed it most years ago, I worked my way tirelessly to the top and I can confidently say I’m a self made billionaire.
He can keep his money for all I care!
I have my money and only care about the truth. I was silent the other day because a part of Matt’s outburst is really true. He wasn’t entirely lying but it’s so messed up that defending myself that day would have blown right in my face.
For years, I resented my dad for sidelining me, and favoring the entitled son of his new wife. I mean, I’m his first son and deserve to be treated right but the moment my mom passed and Evelyn came into the picture, everything changed. My dad shifted all the love to his new son and as I grew up and needed investment to pursue my dream, my dad wouldn’t help.
I thought Evelyn would help me so I ran to her then. She pretended and promised to do everything to support me. Well, I later got to know that she was the one behind my dad’s refusal. Ste instigated him against me.
That broke my heart and I wasn’t as mad at Evelyn as I was disappointed in my dad. For someone, who his own father supported all the way, I expected him to know and do better.
I knew things weren’t going to change for better so I left home as a teenager. I worked so hard and I did all manner of stuff just to see my dream come true.
It finally paid off and I managed to get myself to the top. I never forgave my dad though. I just couldn’t. When I left the house and vanished for months, I expected him to feel sober and realize his mistake. He had the means to find me without sweating it out but he didn’t lift a finger.
That added to my already wounded heart. I never reached out either until months ago when I suddenly heard from him. It was Matt’s wedding and he wanted me to be a part of it.
I accepted, but not because I Esther to reconcile. It wee finally the right time to come back for revenge. I’ve always wanted revenge but I couldn’t make just any move. I needed it to be at the right time when they would never suspect a thing. I would have been done with my plans before they even know what hit them. And even at that, they would never suspect me.
That was all that I had in my head and mind until I came across Grace that night.
Falling in love with her was never a part of the plan. If anything, it derailed the whole thing but I was genuinely in love with her. That was why I was so pained when I found out the next morning after our encounter, that she was Matt’s fiance.
I knew right then that my plan was going to fail. The only way around it was to deny and ignore her which I did but it didn’t work. I ended up doing the opposite.
I fell in love with her mindlessly, so when Matt laid out the twisted version of my motives. I felt guilty and couldn’t defend myself.
By the time I came back to my senses, Grace was already gone. It’s been days since the incident and I haven’t even reached out to her. Even if she was going to give me the benefit of the doubt before now, I already ruined it with my silence. She probably hates me now and never wants anything to do with me ever again.
“I have to fix this. I really need to.” I muttered under my breath as I raked my hands through my hair…
