Chapter 39 Pathetic

Chapter 39 Pathetic
Grace
I didn’t flinch when I heard my mom say those words. I just sat there and watched her go on. I didn’t believe she was being serious until when she was done and I looked at both of them. They had a straight look on, which made me believe they were actually serious.
“What? You meant that?” I asked as I leaned up and my mom nodded.
“He called this morning and was dead serious. He threatened to ruin us if things goes sideways.” She added.
My dad was mute and left my mom to do all his fighting on his behalf.
“No, mom, I can’t do that. I won’t accept this. I’m not getting married to Matt. I don’t love him and I can’t stand the way he hurt me. I just can’t and that means the wedding is not happening.” I said firmly.
“And you are right to do that, I want you happy always. But you need to think about us. If you insist on canceling the wedding, it’s going to end badly for everyone of us…” my dad finally stepped in. He went on to explain in details what Matt would do. And I believe every word. Theo might not be a saint himself but he did warn about what Matt is capable of and even if I don’t believe everything else he said, I believe the one about Matt.
“It’s okay, can I at least take some time to think about it?” I finally replied.
“Of course, my love.” My mom chimed in and I could hear the remaining words she didn’t say.
“You don’t have to worry. I won’t take too long.” I replied and then both nodded.
I wasn’t interested in anything so I jumped to my feet, ready to leave.
“You’re leaving?” My dad asked.
“Yes, I need to a clear head to think and I can’t have that here so I’m going back to Abby. I already promised not to take long so you don’t have to worry.” I retorted.
They both hugged me and watched as I walked out. I rejected to be taken back by the driver. I ordered a ride instead and in no time, I was standing at Abby’s door. She was surprised to see me but she didn’t say anything. She just stepped aside while I made my way into the room.
I crashed into the bed and slept off right away. I woke up in the middle of the night and then started to replay the whole drama that had been happening in my life.
In just a matter of days, I went from being crazy in love and making plans to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life. And then I watched those sand olans shatter right in front of my eyes and there was nothing I could do.
I grabbed my phone and desperately scrolled through, hoping to see a call or even a text message from Theo. I desperately wanted something to convince me that it wasn’t all in my head.
He was also in love with me, right? I didn’t just imagine it in my head. We were both in love. We both made plans to be together. He made me promises…
A lot of questions ran through my head but I couldn’t get answer to any of them. The more I thoughg about it, the more it felt like I was going crazy. I eventually blocked him as I couldn’t get past his silence.
I blocked him and then deleted everything about him. His number, calls, texts, pictures, videos… everything that could remind me of him went into the bin.
That didn’t make me forget about him but it did help to clear my head and heart.
“Now, I know what to do.” I muttered under my breath.
I slowly shut my eyes and forced myself back to sleep.
When I opened my eyes, it was already morning and it was the faint sound from the room that woke me.
“Oh I’m sorry, did I wake you?” Abby asked when she saw me toss around the bed.
“Of course not… maybe though.” I teased and she playfully pulled my feet which made me chuckle.
“You’re up early, going to work already.” I asked.
“Nope. I took the day off to be with you and I’m not even up early. It’s almost ten already.” She let out and I didn’t believe until I looked and saw the clock by the lampstand.
“Oh my goodness, I can’t believe I slept for so long.” I exclaimed and she laughed at me.
“It’s okay, you really needed it. You look so much relaxed now.” She said after she already had enough of the laugh. I went silent after she said this and busy stared blankly at her.
“Are you okay?” she asked after a while.
“I’ve decided to go along with the wedding.” I finally let out while she immediately dropped what she was doing and sat beside me on the bed.
“Oh my baby, are you sure?” She quizzed and I nodded. I went ahead and explained everything my parents and I discussed.
“That’s so… pathetic… I can’t believe Matt is that kind of guy. He seems so cool.” She retorted.
“I know right, and I’m about to get stuck with him for the rest of my life.” I slowly replied while she pulled me into a hug…
