Chapter 191 CHAPTER 191

Chapter 191 CHAPTER 191
Ariel’s heart hammered violently against her ribs as she stepped into Gamma Alaric's office. Every breath came faster than the last, each one scraping painfully against her chest. Victor's final words refused to leave her.

"If you want the truth... find Leonard."

Her gaze swept across the room before finally settling on Beta Leonard. For one suspended moment, the room around her seemed to disappear. The voices faded, and the faces blurred. Even the steady rhythm of her own breathing vanished beneath the deafening roar inside her ears.

Something deep within her chest cracked. No, not cracked, snapped.

Every conversation she had shared with Leonard over the past few days flashed through her mind. Every reassurance. Every promise. Every gentle smile. Every moment she had believed she had finally found someone she could trust.

It all shattered at once. A wave of betrayal crashed over her with such force that it stole the air from her lungs. He lied to me... the thought repeated itself over and over until it drowned out everything else.

Somewhere deep inside her consciousness, she heard a low growl - Zora. The white Lycan's fury surged through their shared bond like a raging storm.

He betrayed us.

The voice reverberated through Ariel's mind, ancient and filled with unrestrained wrath.

Ariel tried to answer.

She couldn't. The anger consuming her no longer felt like her own. It burned through every vein, every muscle, every heartbeat until she could no longer tell where her emotions ended and Zora's began.

Across the room, Zack stiffened.

His eyes widened as the familiar warmth of their mate bond suddenly changed.

"Ariel..."

His voice was barely above a whisper. She didn't hear him. Or perhaps, She couldn't. A violent gust swept through the office although every window remained closed. The temperature plummeted. An invisible force rolled through the room, pressing against every wall with terrifying intensity. The wooden floor beneath Ariel's feet splintered with a loud crack.

White light erupted around her body. This light shimmered with an ethereal brilliance unlike anything anyone present had ever witnessed. The air itself seemed to bow before it.

Ariel's body began to change. Her nails lengthened into razor-sharp claws. Silver markings spread across her skin like living moonlight. Her eyes glowed with an intense, unearthly white as strands of her dark hair danced wildly around her despite the still air.

When she finally lifted her head, it was no longer entirely Ariel looking back at them.

It was the Lycan Princess. The power that exploded from her body was unlike anything the room had ever experienced.

It was ancient, primal and absolute.

Everyone froze.

Then, almost simultaneously, knees struck the floor. Gasps filled the room as they struggled for breath.

It wasn't like the Alpha pressure.   It was something infinitely greater. An authority so overwhelming that every wolf instinctively recognized it and submitted without resistance.

Only Zack remained standing. Even he felt its crushing weight pressing against every inch of his body, but the mate bond anchored him, refusing to let him fall.

His breathing became labored as he stared at Ariel in stunned disbelief.

"Atlas..."

The wolf inside him had already gone silent. Neither of them had words for what they were witnessing.

Slowly, deliberately, Lycan Ariel began walking toward Leonard.

Each step echoed through the office like the tolling of a funeral bell.

Leonard lifted his head with visible effort, his breathing ragged beneath the overwhelming pressure.

His eyes met hers.

"Ariel..." he rasped.

She stopped directly in front of him, towering over him with an aura that made even the strongest Alphas tremble.

"You lied to me."

Her voice no longer sounded entirely human. It carried an ancient resonance that sent chills through everyone present.

Before anyone could react, her hand shot forward. Her fingers wrapped around Leonard's throat.

With effortless strength, she lifted him off the ground until they were face to face. His feet dangled helplessly above the floor as he instinctively grasped her wrist, struggling to draw a single breath.

"Why..."

Her glowing eyes locked onto his.

"Why did you do it?"

Leonard's lips parted as he fought for air, but no words came.

Only the heartbreaking sound of a man desperately trying to breathe.

"A... Ariel..." he rasped, the name barely audible.

She stared at him without a flicker of recognition.

"You lied to me."

The ancient resonance in her voice echoed through the office, making the walls themselves seem to tremble.

"You knew..."

Her grip tightened.

"You knew who murdered my parents."

Leonard's breathing became even more labored. His lips parted, but no words came. Whether because he couldn't breathe or because he was too stunned to answer, no one could tell.

Across the room, Zack watched in horrified disbelief.

His heart pounded painfully against his ribs as he looked at the woman he loved. It was as if something ancient had completely consumed her.

"Atlas..." he called inwardly.

His wolf was already trying to understand what they were witnessing.

She's gone too deep.

Atlas's usually calm voice carried an urgency Zack had never heard before.

That isn't just Ariel's anger. Zora has taken control.

Without another thought, Zack forced one foot forward.

The pressure immediately slammed into him like a mountain.

"Ariel," he called softly.

There was no response.

He drew closer until only a few feet separated them.

"Ariel."

Her glowing eyes remained fixed solely on Leonard.

Zack swallowed hard before trying once more, his voice steadier this time.

"Look at me."

Inside their shared bond, Atlas closed his eyes.

Then, instead of reaching for Ariel, he reached for Zora. The ancient white Lycan stood surrounded by an endless sea of silver mist, her enormous body trembling with fury.

He betrayed us, Zora growled.

Atlas didn't challenge her, he simply stood before her.

Look again.

The growling faltered.

He isn't fighting back.

Zora's blazing eyes narrowed.

For the first time, the rage surrounding the Lycan wavered.

She saw Ariel buried beneath it. The frightened young woman trapped inside the storm they had created together.   The fury surrounding the white Lycan gradually subsided. Back inside the office, Ariel's glowing eyes flickered.

Her fingers loosened.

Leonard dropped heavily to the floor, collapsing onto his knees as he gasped desperately for air. Cough after cough tore through him while he struggled to fill his lungs.

At the same time, the crushing pressure that had held everyone captive slowly began to lift.

The invisible weight pressing them into the floor grew lighter. The silver light surrounding Ariel dissolved like morning mist beneath the rising sun.

Her claws receded as the markings faded from her skin.

Ariel blinked.

Her breathing came in quick, panicked gasps as she stared at her trembling hands.

"W-what..."

A strangled sob escaped her lips.

"I..."

Before she could finish, Zack closed the remaining distance between them and gently pulled her into his arms.

She didn't resist. The moment she felt his embrace, the last of her strength gave way.

"I didn't..." she whispered brokenly. "Zack... I..."

He rested one hand against the back of her head, holding her close as she trembled uncontrollably.

"I know," he murmured. "It's over."

She shook her head frantically.

"I almost..."

His grip tightened just enough to steady her.

For several long moments, neither of them moved.

Ariel simply stood in his embrace, letting his steady heartbeat anchor her back to herself.

When she finally pulled away, her tear-filled eyes immediately searched the room.

The first person she saw was Jenna.

Without hesitation, Ariel hurried toward her.

"I'm so sorry."

Her voice broke.

"I didn't mean to... I didn't know..."

Before she could say another word, Jenna wrapped her arms around her.

"It's okay," Jenna whispered through her own tears.

The two young women clung to each other while the room slowly recovered from the terrifying ordeal they had just witnessed.

When Ariel finally stepped back, her eyes found Leonard.

He had managed to stand, though one hand remained pressed against his bruised throat. Red marks from her fingers were already beginning to darken against his skin.

Despite everything that had happened, he looked at her with compassion instead of anger.

"I'm sorry," he said quietly.

Fresh tears filled Ariel's eyes.

"Sorry won't bring back my parents."

The words hung painfully between them.

She drew a shaky breath, fighting to keep her emotions under control.

"You have to pay for everything you did."

Leonard lowered his head.

Tears slipped silently down his cheeks.

"It's all my fault," he said hoarsely. "I'll pay for all my wrongdoings."

Pain flashed across Ariel's face.

She swallowed hard before turning toward the guards.

"Arrest him."

"Ariel."

Evelyn's weak voice interrupted her.

Every head turned.

Evelyn slowly pushed herself upright, her face streaked with tears as she looked directly at Ariel.

"It's not my husband you should be arresting."

Silence engulfed the office.

Her next words shattered it completely.

"It's me you should be punishing."

No one spoke.

Even the air seemed to still.

Cassian stared at his mother, disbelief washing over his face.

"Mom?"

Evelyn slowly turned her tear-filled eyes toward her son.

The pain in her expression was unlike anything he had ever seen.

"I messed up, son," she whispered, her voice breaking beneath the weight of years of guilt. "More than you'll ever know."
