Chapter 131 Don't call me

Chapter 131 Don't call me
Zia's POV

Last night was one of the... craziest nights of my life.

I finally did it.

Finally, Jayden would be tied to me in this life, and who knows, I might have better luck in the next one.

A permanent smile was plastered on my lips as I fell on my bed, reminiscing about how last night had gone.

I felt so sleepy.

But then again, of course. I barely slept last night because of everything that happened.

A groan left my lips, and I closed my eyes, ready to succumb to sleep's strong hold when...

When my phone began to ring?

I thought to ignore it. If, after it rang a few times, the person should know that I wasn't in the mood for a conversation.

It rang until the call ended on its own.

A soft sigh left my lips, and I pulled the pillow closer to my head, ready to fall asleep again when, just like before, my phone began ringing again.

I let it end on its own.

But by the third time, I was already tired.

Sitting up against my will, I grabbed the phone on the table to check the caller ID.

Unknown.

The first thought that came to my mind was Pablo.

But why would he call? He had already delivered his end of the bargain, although I hadn't done mine yet but... That was for more information.

He usually kept to his every word.

So who was calling?

Pressing my lips into a thin line, I tapped the green button before bringing the phone to my ear. "Hello," I muttered in a groggy tone, my eyes closing involuntarily.

"What is taking so long?" A sharp voice pierced through the phone and into my ears. "You were here just a few days ago, running your mouth about how you could deliver that bastard child into my hands. You haven't made any move to do that, you know."

That voice.

It was obvious who it was.

Hillary Ashford.

A sigh left my lips. "Look, I'm trying to do what I have to," I muttered, trying to calm the raging man down. "You think I don't want Elara out of my life too?"

It had barely been a few days. Why was he so in a hurry to have Elara back?

"Who knows what you want," Hillary mocked. "Maybe you and Elara had finally found common ground. Maybe she promised to leave your man for you if you just let her go and you agreed...?"

"Are you kidding?" The sleep immediately vanished from my eyes, and I sat straight, flipping my eyes open.

That statement couldn't have been any more insulting.

"You should be a comedian because you are really good at making up stories," I said, clenching my jaw while tightening my hold on my phone. "Don't call me again. When I figure something out, I'll call you."

Before Hillary Ashford could say anything else, I had ended the call.

"Fucking bastard," I muttered, throwing the phone onto the bed.

I couldn't sleep anymore.

That man just had to ruin my good mood.

An exasperated sigh left my lips.

If only he knew how badly I wanted Elara gone, maybe he wouldn't be speaking in that manner towards me.

Since I couldn't return to sleep, I got off the bed and went to take a shower before going downstairs.

My eyes immediately spotted Jayden and his mother speaking in a corridor.

I walked towards them quickly. "Hey, baby, I..." I began, trying to touch Jayden's shoulder, but he dodged me, then, without saying a word, walked away.

He didn't even glare.

"Jayden!" I yelled, trying to get his attention, but Jayden didn't turn back until he was out of sight.

His mother chuckled lightly. "What happened between you two?" she asked, her tone playful.

She asked the question, but I could tell a part of her thought it was impossible for anything to be going on between Jayden and me.

Well... Why not kill two birds with one stone?

"Mother." I leaned towards her, lowering my tone. "I'm not one to kiss and tell but, he doesn't remember the amazing time we had last night, so I have to remind him, right?"

"Amazing time?" Victoria's face crumbled. Multiple emotions passed through her eyes: shock, disbelief, amazement, and then it finally settled on disappointment.

What I couldn't tell was who she was disappointed in.

Me? Or her son?

"Yeah. Um... Yes," I responded, nodding my head.

"Jayden and I, we..." I left the rest of the words to trail off, a knowing smile appearing on my lips as the expression on Victoria's face changed again to disgust.

She wanted me for her son before, but now, just because Elara had somehow inserted herself into the picture, she was disgusted?

Well, that was her business.

"There is no need for a thorough explanation. I'm sure you understand what I mean," I said with a wink.

Victoria's lips parted as though she wanted to say something, but I stepped back before she could.

I wasn't ready to be scolded by her. Not like that would do anything.

"Please, if you would excuse me, Mother, I have to talk to Jayden."

As soon as I turned away, the smile on my face disappeared, replaced with a scowl.

I began walking back up the stairs.

Jayden wouldn't see me.

There was no need to see him.

Instead, I could go see someone else. Someone who was worth my time.

Changing my direction, I began heading towards Elara's room instead.

A maid passed by. She greeted me and was about to walk away when I called her back.

"Hey, come back here," I commanded, pointing at a spot beside me.

The maid's face became pale. Trembling, she walked over and greeted me again. "Ms. Ranvier."

Ms. Ranvier?

"How many times have I warned you people not to..."

Ah, fuck it.

It was just a matter of time.

Very soon, they would be forced to call me Mrs. Bryes.

"Just, where is Elara? The mother of the twins? I haven't seen her around the mansion."

Thinking of it, I hadn't seen the twins as well.

"Oh, Ms. Elara? I heard she and the twins went out."

What?

My eyes widened in delight.

"Went out? Like..." A small smile appeared on my lips. "Out of this mansion went out?"

The maid nodded her head, and the smile grew brighter.

"Someone said she saw her and the boss arguing earlier this morning, then Ms. Elara said she needed to clear her head, so the boss granted her permission to go to the park," the maid said in one breath, shaking as though she had been drenched with cold water.

This... This was a golden opportunity.

Stepping closer, I intimidated the young maid further, my gaze never leaving her eyes.

"Which park?"

Her hands trembled as she answered. "C.L.'s," before lowering her head. Then she sniffled as though she was about to start crying.

Pathetic.

"You can leave," I said, waving my hand. Within seconds, she vanished from my sight. I could barely care about her.

Not when I had just heard one of the best pieces of news ever.

She not only had an argument with Jayden about something... But she was also out of reach, away from his protection.

I brought up my phone, my smile never leaving my lips as I tapped on the most recent call I'd gotten today before placing the phone to my ear.

The call rang once... Twice...

But by the third ring, it was cut short because the call got answered.

"Why are you...?"

"Elara's outside the mansion," I interrupted him, my voice sharp and firm. "She's at Clara Lanfield's park. Do what you have to do."

Without waiting for a confirmation, I ended the call.

Finally, everything was working out for my good.
