Chapter 8 - Successful Plan

Elvie

I arrived home with a spring in my step, the glow of the evening's outing with Andrew still lingering in my heart. The idea of our regular walks and shared moments filled me with a sense of happiness and anticipation. As I entered our luxurious mansion, I spotted my mother, Jasmine, in the grand foyer.

"Mother!" I exclaimed, unable to contain my joy. I rushed to her and enveloped her in a tight hug.

Jasmine, ever the epitome of sophistication, returned the hug with a smile. "Elvie, my dear, you seem to be in high spirits. I trust your evening went well?"

I nodded enthusiastically, a smile playing on my lips. "It was amazing, Mother. Andrew and I had a great time. I think this plan of ours is working. He's opening up, and we're getting closer."

Jasmine's laughter echoed through the opulent halls. "Ah, success tastes sweet, doesn't it? I'm glad to see our efforts yielding positive results."

As we parted from the embrace, I couldn't help but share the details of our date with my mother. I recounted the serene walk in the park, the genuine conversations, and the newfound connection that seemed to be blossoming between Andrew and me. Jasmine listened attentively, her eyes reflecting a mixture of pride and satisfaction.

However, the joyous atmosphere took a sudden turn when I mentioned Giselle. A cloud seemed to pass over Jasmine's features as I informed her that Andrew and I were officially beginning to date.

Jasmine's laughter faded, and she looked at me with a serious expression. "Elvie, there's something you need to know. After Giselle left, I don't know where in the world she went."

My elation turned into confusion. "Why would we care about Giselle's whereabouts, Mother? She's out of our lives now."

Jasmine's gaze sharpened, and she responded with a tone of caution, "Elvie, you must remember the saying – keep your enemies closer. What if Giselle decides to return? We need to be prepared and vigilant. She could pose a threat to the new connection you're building with Andrew."

I frowned, the idea of Giselle returning hadn't crossed my mind. "Mother, why would she come back? She left willingly. Let her stay wherever she is."

Jasmine's voice retained its edge. "Elvie, you're still too naive. Giselle is not to be underestimated. We need to know where she is, what she's doing. We can't let her jeopardize everything we've worked so hard to achieve."

The weight of my mother's words sank in, and I realized the gravity of the situation. If Giselle were to return, it could unravel the delicate threads of the newfound connection between Andrew and me. My frustration grew, but I knew my mother had a point.

"I'll look into it, Mother," I said, my determination resurfacing. "I won't let Giselle ruin what I've built with Andrew. But I can't believe she'd have the audacity to come back."

Jasmine's expression softened, a hint of maternal concern in her eyes. "Elvie, never underestimate the lengths people will go to for their desires. We must be prepared for all possibilities. Now, go and rest. You've had quite an eventful evening."

As I ascended the grand staircase to my room, my mind churned with conflicting emotions. The happiness from my time with Andrew lingered, but the awareness of Giselle's potential return cast a shadow over it.

I settled into my room, the soft glow of my laptop casting a warm light across the space. The encounter with my mother left me with a lingering sense of concern about Giselle's potential return. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I needed to know where she was, despite my initial dismissal of the idea.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I opened my laptop. A few clicks later, I found myself on Giselle's social media profiles. However, a frown formed on my face as I realized that all her accounts had been deleted. It was as if she had vanished from the digital world.

"Interesting," I muttered to myself. The abrupt deletion of her online presence could be interpreted in various ways. Was she trying to erase any trace of her existence, or was it a sign of something more? My mind raced with possibilities.

A grin crossed my lips as a thought struck me. Perhaps Giselle was so devastated by her departure that she decided to obliterate her identity altogether. The idea amused me, and I closed my laptop, convinced that she had chosen a path of self-imposed obscurity.

With a newfound sense of satisfaction, I reached for my phone. My fingers danced across the screen as I composed a text message to Andrew.

"Hey Andrew! Had a great time today. Can't wait for our next date!"

I pressed send, anticipation building as I awaited his response. It didn't take long for his reply to pop up on my screen.

"Hi Elvie! I enjoyed it too. Looking forward to the next one."

A surge of excitement coursed through me. Andrew's willingness to engage in our budding relationship fueled my determination to leave Giselle in the past. Whatever her reasons for deleting her online presence, I was ready to embrace the present and the future with Andrew.

As our text conversation continued, I strategically guided it toward plans for our next date. I wanted to keep the momentum going, to solidify the connection we were building. Andrew, still reeling from the hurt caused by Giselle's sudden departure, seemed genuinely appreciative of the attention I was showering on him.

In between messages, my mind occasionally drifted back to the enigma of Giselle. However, each time I found myself contemplating her whereabouts, I redirected my thoughts to the positive energy emanating from my interaction with Andrew.

The evening unfolded into a series of exchanged messages, filled with laughter and hints of affection. Andrew's anger and frustration began to thaw, replaced by a growing comfort in our conversation. As the night drew to a close, we both expressed eagerness for our next meeting.
