Chapter thirty nine

Zeus's p. o. v

     Nothing could wipe the smile off my face as i watched my mate play catch with the pups in my pack . The pride I felt as the pack members talked about how my mate fought off a group of rouges who tried to intercept our border. The pack members kept on talking about their kick ass luna who saved the lives of pack warriors along with their Alphas life. The way the pack accepted and welcomed my mate as their luna brought great warmth to my heart especially when news got around that she had made a protective barrier around our pack since the pack members started gossiping about how strong she is and how the pack is growing stronger because of her and how they feel even more safe since she is here.

     Then there is me.... just smugly listening to how highly my pack thinks of my mate while watching her chase the pack children around. .... wow.... I've never seen her as carefree as she is right now, it suits her ....."we should try to help her relax like that around us too.. she looks gorgeous when being playful"... i agree with you Zane but i think we should tell her about what the elders said first.

     I was about to reach her when i noticed the couple that came to the backyard ( i knew i was forgetting something. ... i hope Lenny doesn't get too overwhelmed by this )

     With that thought in mind i walked towards her and whispered in her ear "please don't get mad at me for this , i forgot to tell you and I tried to hold them off for as long as I could so please just act as if everything is ok between us for now , i'll make it up to you i promise "

     Just as I finished whispering to her she yanked away from me and was now dumbfounded as she was held in my mothers arms as my mother cried while embracing her daughter in-law.

     "Am so sorry for just assaulting you like this my daughter, it's just that i never thought i would ever experience this in my lifetime, i feel like i know you already " my mother said as she pulled away from lenarya , who awkwardly just smiled and stared at my mother.

     "Ohhhh my god zeus you haven't told her , how could you"..... my mother said as she slapped my arm before looking back at lenarya with embarrassment as she said " am sorry for putting you in such an awkward situation darling, my name is maya and this is my husband Paul, we are your mate's parents "

     I just stood there waiting for lenarya to react as she looked at my mothers hand , which she extended as she said it's nice to finally meet you lenarya.

     Lenny looked at my mother's hand a second longer before smiling and ignoring my mothers hand as she wrapped her arms around my mother and said " it's ok mam am sorry for freezing up..... earlier i didn't know who you are since your son didn't tell me that you will be coming "

     A huge weight was lifted off my Shoulders as i watched my mate converse with my parents as tears filled their eyes while ignoring my presence.

     I was a little hurt when my mother glanced at me after more than thirty minutes of talking to my mate and said "ohhh zeus, how are you son? I barely noticed you , how long have you been there?"

     I could barely hold my frustration as she and my father went back to talking to my mate as soon as I said I was fine.  It was like I was invisible to them.

     Hours had passed since my parents left with my mate leaving me standing all alone. I haven't seen or talked to her since my parents started talking to her and am starting to get anxious and uneasy about it.

     I walked in my room and was surprised. .... there my Queen was laying on my bed but something seemed off about her.

     Hey love i thought you were still with my parents am sorry i didn't tell yo......

     I stopped mid sentence as I noticed her puffy eyes , "why is mate sad..... did we do something or did mom say something to her?.."

     I sat down on the bed and held her in my arms asking her if I had done something or if my parents had said something but she just shook her head no... and then proceeded to wiping a tear from her face.

     "Am fine zeus am just overwhelmed with emotions , with your parents here and everything it's a lot"

     Hearing the words coming out of her mouth broke my heart, me knowing that i had made her cry once again. ..."I CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT, AM SUCH A DISGRACE, I SHOULD HAVE JUST STOPPED BEING SELFISH AND LET HER GO......"

     Her hand slowly held mine as she said " yes.... I am mad at you for not telling me that your parents were coming back to visit or just telling me about them in general but that's not why I was crying. .... i am just overwhelmed by the memories of my old pack and how your parents remind me of mine especially since your mother treats me like the daughter she never had..... that's all ... ok ? So stop beating yourself up ...... i can literally hear all that self hate going on in your head and i am not appreciating the way you are thinking of my mate."

     Am sorry for thinking so poorly of your mate my Queen. ..... i am also sorry for not telling you about my parents visit. .... i swear i was going to tell you i just forgot since we have been going through a lot of stuff lately.

     I moved closer to the headboard and beckoned her so that her back was laying on my chest.

     "I know that I haven't told you everything about me and it's not fair that I expect you to be totally honest with but I am going to tell you everything you need to know about me in no time, i just got to sort out a few things out in my head but please try to be honest with me because i would hate to find things out through someone else or something. The only thing that I haven't fully told you is how i know Nemesis and am sure you understand that even though you are my mate i can't just tell you that ryt......."

     I kissed her head and said "i understand that you can't tell me about the whole you and Nemesis thing and i admit that it has been in my mind for a while. ..... i get that Nemesis is top secret and you might need to confirm things with her first ."

     "I like how mate is loyal to Nemesis, loyalty is a very attractive trait on a woman and she pulls it off very well". I was busy having an internal conversation with zane when my mate asked the question I've been dreading since last night.

     "Soo.... what did the elders want to talk about. ... i am aware that they don't just randomly visit Alphas for a chat unless it's an emergency or something of great importance " well i guess it's time to come clean. ...... hopefully she doesn't freak out. ......
