Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Annabel felt as if everything was spinning even before she even opened her eyes. She couldn't explain how she was feeling but it wasn't good at all.
She finally opened her eyes, staring at the ceiling for a while before she turned her head to look around her. She was in the room Raffaele had given to her. She couldn't remember how she got there or what happened before she passed out. All she knew was she was in pain. Severe pain.
“Seems like a stab pain.” She thought, sitting up in bed, looking up at the drips and machines connected to her body. Shouldn't someone be watching her since it was obvious she was in a coma but just for a brief while.
Carefully, she swung her feet down the bed, wearing her slippers before leaning on the drip pole. Pushing it forward, she used it in supporting herself before. She stepped into the corridor which was surprisingly quiet.
The first place she headed to was Pinky's room. She tried to pace herself so as not to open up her wound. The one thing on her mind was if Pinky's was okay. “Argh…” she groaned as she shifted. “I hate wounds.” she whispered before dragging her sleep forward.
As she turned the corner to Pinky's room, she bumped into someone. She fell back hard. A loud yelp of pain escaped her lips as she fell on her but, the drip stand crashing to the ground along with her.
She was too blinded by pain to even look at the person who was standing in front of her. “Annabel.” Raffaele called out in shock. “You're awake. What are you doing out here?”
“Are you made of steel?” she groaned, placing her hand on her wound. Thankfully, the stitches didn't open but she was staring at Raffaele who was crouched by her, lifting her in a smooth motion. “Are you okay?” she squealed, trying to tap his shoulder but she couldn't. “What are you doing? I want to see Pinky. Is she okay?”
“Pinky's is fine. I didn't bring you here to die just because you want to take care of Pinky.” He said calmly, taking her back towards her room. She didn't protest and just let him set her on the bed. Just as they get inside, Katarina rushed in, bowing slightly to Raffaele before taking Annabel hands.
“Hpw are you feeling? You shouldn't move much. You'll be all dizzy.” she said, examining her quickly. “Are you feeling any weird symptoms?” She asked.
Annabel didn't speak up immediately but she placed her hand on her stomach. “How long was I out?” she asked Katarina.
“You were in a coma for three days…”
“There was pressure… a… a sharp pain in my lower abdomen…”
She trailed off, before pausing, looking around the room as if looking for something. I couldn't be that Raffaele didn't have it provided did it? She turned to look at Katarina, tears welling up in her eyes.
“N-no fetal monitor?” her voice broke. “W-why do I feel like my stomach has been emptied? T-tell me, Katarina. Is my baby okay?”
The silence that came after spoke louder than any word. She shrunk back in before, biting her lips as if trying to hold back her tears. Although the child was a sad reminder for her, the child had did nothing wrong.
Deep down, she had planned how she would raise the child away from all the chaos in her life even though she wasn't sure she could do it and even though it was a reminder of her past. She knew she couldn't bear to hear it even though she knows what it was already.
“The trauma from the kick and the stab was near your lower abdomen and it caused a lot of damage. There was nothing I could do about it.” Katarina said soft but Annabel wasn't listening, she had her knees up to her chest. She didn't care if the stab wound ached so much as she rocked back and forth.
Katarina tried to reach out to her but she was stopped mid-way by Raffaele. “Why didn't you tell me?” He asked calmly, but it was obvious he was mad but just nit sure at whom.
“Don…”
“Keep quiet Katarina. Annabel why didn't you tell me you were pregnant? Do you think I am that much of a monster that you can't tell me just a basic thing so you would be protected more? You knew you were pregnant, why would you recklessly throw yourself in the way of a knife?”
“Don, she can't take it…”
“Shut up Katarina. Stai zitta, Katarina. Stai zitta. You funking knew she was pregnant and you didn't tell me? I have the death of an innocent human on me just because I was left in the dark.”
