Chapter 292

Chapter 292

She was crying and screaming, her eyes red and swollen, snot and tears smeared all over her face. She looked nothing like her usual gentle and delicate self.

"This woman doesn't really love you. She ran away with the kid for two years and never once came to see you! When you were in the ICU fighting for your life, where was she?"

Clara gripped Silas's wrist tighter and tighter, almost losing her mind.

"Only me! I'm the only one in this world who truly loves you! Since we were kids, when have I ever left your side? Yes, I lied to you, but I only lied because she was there!"

"If it weren't for Serena, we would have been together from the start. Don't you get it!"

Clara's voice was so hoarse it was almost breaking.

"Silas, please, look at me, just look at me..."

Silas glanced down at the wrist Clara was clutching.

He shook her off and sent her falling to the floor.

The movement was swift and decisive, without a hint of hesitation.

"Get away from me."

Two words, cold as ice.

Clara stumbled back two steps from the force and hit the edge of the hospital bed.

"Your love disgusts me."

Silas stared at her, his Adam's apple bobbing.

"I never liked you."

"Not even a little bit."

Clara's body swayed.

Her lips were trembling, tears on her face, her eyes full of disbelief.

"What did you say?"

"You heard me clearly." Silas didn't look at her anymore. "Since we were kids, you were like a sister to me at most—not even that. You shamelessly clung to me, faked illness to trick me into marriage, pretended to be my fiancée when I lost my memory. You think that's love?"

Silas turned his head, his voice filled with undisguised annoyance.

"That's just disgusting."

Clara's legs gave out completely.

She collapsed on the floor, biting her lower lip so hard it started to bleed.

But she didn't give up.

She suddenly twisted around and pointed at Serena.

"What's so good about her? Tell me! What does she have that I don't?"

"You got into a car accident because of her and almost died. Did she care? When you were on the operating table for seven hours, where was she? When you woke up not even knowing who you were, who stayed by your bedside? Me!"

Clara's voice echoed through the hospital room, sharp and piercing.

Silas let out a cold laugh.

"Serena is better than you in every way. What right do you have to compare yourself to her?"

That one sentence crushed Clara's last shred of dignity.

Serena leaned against the wall, not saying a word the entire time.

She watched this scene unfold, not sure what to feel.

She and Silas had been tangled up for ten years, taking so many detours because of Clara.

Five years of cold treatment, five years of being ignored—she had gotten through so many nights alone with Aria.

Now the misunderstanding was finally cleared up.

But so what?

What happened in the past already happened.

Those days she endured alone wouldn't be erased just because of one "truth."

She and Silas could never go back.

The hospital room fell silent for a few seconds.

Clara sat on the floor, trembling all over.

Suddenly, she moved.

She pushed herself up from the floor, stumbled over to her bag, and rummaged through it.

Then she pulled out a piece of paper.

She turned around and held it up in front of Silas.

"Silas, look at this."

Clara's voice suddenly changed. It was no longer hysterical, no longer crying and begging like before.

Her tone became calm.

"I'm pregnant."

The moment those words left her mouth, the hospital room fell into dead silence. John froze and looked at Clara.

Silas's movements also stiffened for a moment.

Serena frowned slightly and looked at what Clara was holding.

It was a pregnancy test report.

Clara pushed the report forward. A strange smile appeared on her face, like she had won.

"This is your child, Silas."

Silas didn't take it.

Clara didn't care whether he took it or not. She continued.

"That night at The Peninsula Hotel, have you forgotten?"

The Peninsula Hotel?

The moment those three words came out of Clara's mouth, Serena's breathing stopped for a beat.

The Peninsula Hotel.

That night, someone had drugged her. Her whole body felt hot, her consciousness was blurry.

Silas came to her room and they were tangled up all night.

That was her last entanglement with Silas.

She remembered it clearly.

But Clara was also saying she was with Silas that night?

"That night, when I was with you." Clara stared at Silas, saying each word deliberately. "At The Peninsula Hotel, we made this child."

She lowered her head and touched her lower abdomen. When she looked up, her eyes were full of crazy determination.

"No matter how much you hate me, this child is real. You can't just ignore him, can you?"

Ever since finding out she was pregnant, Clara had been thrilled beyond belief.

See? Even God was helping them!

Serena's mind went "buzz."

Serena's gaze fell on that pregnancy report, her fingertips unconsciously tightening.

The same night, the same place.

What was really going on?

Silas stared at the report in Clara's hand, his Adam's apple bobbing.

He didn't speak, but the vein on his forehead twitched twice.

Clara thought he was wavering and immediately took a step forward.

"Even if you don't want me, you have to give this child an explanation, right?"

She lifted her chin and looked at Silas, calculation and madness intertwined in her eyes.

This was her last card.

And her biggest bargaining chip.

From the moment she found out she was pregnant, Clara knew that as long as this child existed, Silas could never shake her off.

This was also why she felt comfortable letting Silas stay alone with Serena—because she already held the biggest card in her hand.

Now, the time had come.

She should play this card.

Serena stood to the side, her brows furrowed.

She looked at Clara's smug face, then glanced at Silas.

Silas's profile was tense, his emotions unreadable.

After a long moment, he suddenly laughed, his tone icy. "Are you sure this child is mine?"

Clara froze, hurt flashing clearly in her eyes.

She clenched her fists tightly and looked at Silas. "Silas, how can you think of me like that? Since I came back, you're the only one I've been with. Have you forgotten that night?"

At this, a strange blush appeared on her pale face. "That night you went on and on with me. I begged you to stop but you wouldn't listen. You almost broke me."

She stood up, looked at Silas, and continued. "If you hadn't been so rough that night, I wouldn't have gotten pregnant."

"Silas, this child is here because of you. God meant for us to have this child."

She looked at Silas with affection, a hint of obsessive madness in her eyes.

"Silas, it's destiny that we're meant to be a family. You can't escape it."
