Chapter 191 You're Going to Kill Him
Chapter 191 You're Going to Kill Him
After a few minutes, Aurora returned to the room. She helped me to my feet and guided me into the bath chamber. I felt uncomfortable stripping before her, but I did so anyway. Aurora stared at the bandages for a while, then said, “We'll have to be careful so this doesn't get wet.”
“No problem,” I sat at the edge of the tub with her help, dipping only my lower half into the water.
Aurora began her usual preparations. I was familiar with it by now. She did not immediately grab the vial, as usual, instead choosing to begin with washing my body and engaging me in discussions.
It was only now that I realized that those ‘small talks’ were meant to probe, as well as slowly strip my mental defenses.
This time, she took longer than usual to walk over to that cabinet and pick up the vial from whatever corner she kept it. I was even beginning to think that she wasn't going to use it. Maybe she had caught on to our act after all.
But, at the last moment, I saw her stand up and walk over to the corner.
Okay… this is it…
Aurora rummaged around for a moment, then turned around and walked back to the edge of the tub. I averted my gaze quick enough for her not to realize I had been watching.
The lid of the vial opened with a pop, and then I felt a certain liquid drip onto my forehead. The liquid was terribly soothing as usual, but I remained clear headed. That dizziness that usually came with it was nowhere to be found.
Perhaps the potion only worked on non-supernatural beings.
“How do you feel?” Aurora asked at that moment, massaging my scalp and ensuring the liquid coated every part of my head.
I remembered that feeling from the previous times and acted it out perfectly.
“I feel warm…” I said slowly.
“That's good.” Aurora’s fingers moved down towards my shoulders. “You've been through so much already. This is why I'm always trying to look out for you. If you had taken my advice all this while, this wouldn't have happened.”
“You're right…” I muttered, as though in a trance.
Aurora’s insidious voice sounded next to my ear, “You know who the true villain here is, right?”
Yes. You. You manipulative bitch.
“It's Caligo. He's trying to steal you away from your true mate. From your true love. That's the only reason Ciro acted out like that. He would never hurt you. I've never once lied to you, right?”
“So, Ciro likes me? Caligo is trying to prevent me from being with him?” I asked with a deliberate drag.
“Yes. Yes, you're getting the whole picture now.” Aurora’s voice went up a pitch. She sounded too excited. It was sickening. “I'm not going to force you to make a decision, but remember that terrible things will keep happening to you if you remain with Caligo.”
“What terrible things?”
Aurora was silent for a moment, before saying, “Think about the baby. What do you think will happen once Ciro ends up being the father? Which, to be honest, is a very likely possibility. Oh, I don't even want to imagine.”
“Rose, my dear, you have to be smart with your decision. Will you rather be with the person the Moon Goddess created to be your mate? Or some monster with murderous tendencies?”
“...I'd rather be with my mate.” I answered after a few seconds passed.
“Brilliant!” She clapped once. “You've always been a smart girl. I knew I could trust you to make the right choice.”
“But, what do we do now? Ciro is already locked away, and I'm meant to marry Caligo soon. Is it still possible to turn this situation around?” I asked with the intent to understand bits of her plan.
Caligo… Cassian… Nyx… I really hope you guys are listening…
Aurora’s tone suddenly turned a bit more sinister. There was now a coldness to it that almost made me shudder. I had to use all my mental strength to remain relaxed at that moment.
“You're going to kill him.” She had said.
I almost pulled the plug on the entire act.
Kill Caligo?! Kill Caligo?!
That was her plan all along?!
What the hell? What was the point of raising a child that you harbored so much hatred for, up until the point of wanting to kill? It made absolutely no sense!
“K-kill him?” I allowed my shock to show in my voice. It would've been weird if I did not show some level of intensity to her words.
Aurora cackled like the odious woman she was. She said with a silk-laden voice, “It sounds difficult, right? Almost impossible even. That's why you have to do it. Because love is a man's greatest weakness. That love he has for you will allow him to completely lower his guard, and you'll be able to take his life.”
I could not even think of a response to give her. My mouth remained agape.
Aurora continued, her voice now back to that despicable pretense of motherly affection, “Look, Rose. I know, this might seem extreme. But, it's for your sake. It's either your life or his. Do you want to end up like the other girls he's murdered? We're running out of time. There's no time to hesitate.”
“You're right…” I forced myself to nod, even though that simple act almost made me retch. “How do you want us to go about it?”
I could feel Aurora smiling behind me.
“That's the difficult part. Killing an Alpha is not going to be easy. His power is beyond what we can imagine. Brute force won't work. He's stronger than most. I'm keen on poison. But I'm worried that he'll sniff it out. So we need to incapacitate him first. You need to drug him. And once he's totally out, we'll be able to properly take him out.”
Good God. Just how deranged was this woman?
Mere listening to her was making my skin crawl all over. The image of Aurora’s tender expression and loving demeanor completely shattered in my head, now replaced with something demonic.
Caligo… do you believe me now?
