Chapter 107
Chapter 107
Nelson
"So, it has been divided." Ezinna said, looking at his own people.
"You are now our Alpha." One of them said and bowed. We have many Alphas and I am also an Alpha. But now, I am the Alpha of all Alphas.
"To make sure you and your generation to come are bonded to your Alpha, you have to take your Alpha's blood." Max suggested.
He continued to elaborate on why it is a good thing since it will make us stronger. Ezinna accepted and they made the ritual and had his blood poured into water that was distributed to his people.
"Don't you want to do so?" Someone from my side asked. I fear my blood will turn them into something different because I have Titus blood in my system.
"It is not important, we can do that later. The important thing is guarding them to the new place." I spoke the last part loudly for all to hear.
"I have thought of a name for this place. For years we have stayed on this side of the world thinking of a name to call it. We have always called it home. But from today, it shall be known as the South." I said as I looked at Ezinna.
"You will take the one opposite from here, it is called the East." Then I turned to Max and Leo.
"Max, you will take the West and Leo will take the North."
"You came up with these names?" Xena asked.
"Yes, is it bad?" I dare not say who named it.
"No, it is good." She giggled.
"As I said, I will guide you all to it."
"No need, I will head out and guide my people. We will find the place ourselves." Ezinna said.
"We would head out ourselves too, we would be guided by nature. All you need is to point out the direction." Max added.
"We don't have the supernatural qualities you all have. So, I will appreciate it if you will be our guide." Leo spoke with a bow and I nodded in acknowledgement.
" It seems I will be gone for a long time." I turned to Xena and she gave me a sad smile.
Everyone was about to leave when Max gathered everyone for one last speech. He wasn't looking bright and I wondered what he was about to say. Max had been blessed with the ability of prophecy but he rarely has vision so we have long forgotten about it. But with his face looking like it deep it was years back when he prophesied about the drought.
"I called you all today to share what I have seen?" We all listened with a hopeful heart that is not something that will be like the drought.
"I see blood in the river, I see calamity as we have never experienced before. I see division and chaos."
"Maybe it is a sign that we should stick together." Leo suggested.
"No, from the way I see it, sticking together or not doesn't affect the future I have seen. One notable thing is that it might not be in our lifetime. Nonetheless, we should all be vigilant and try as much as we can help the future generations."
"Is there a way to avert it?" Xena asked. They just said it is not in our time and I can see the relief on everyone's faces but not on Xena's face. Even now she is worried about future generations.
"I saw no way to avert it, the only thing I saw was the one to end it all. Although he wouldn't appear immediately, he will come after a long time but he will end it."
"So, our only hope is the one to end it all?" Ezinna asked and Max nodded.
"There is a comforting thought in the fact that it won't be in our time. But, I will surely try my best to groom my people."
They all accepted and just as I thought, they didn't bother much about the calamity since it won't be in our time. There is always a relief in times of trouble when the trouble is not. We all left the same day and it saddened me to leave my mate behind. I made sure to instruct four wolves to always be with her at all times. She was now their Luna and that makes her the most important figure. She might not be a wolf but she has more rights than any wolf.
"Are we there yet?" A child asked.
We have been traveling for about three months now and they are already tired. It would have gotten there sooner if it was not for the children that easily get tired. I am sure Ezinna and his people must have gotten to their destination.
"Very soon." I replied and I am glad that we would soon be there and I will run back to the arms of my woman. It is also becoming very difficult to resist the urge of blood. Sometimes when I look at the humans in front of me, all I see is sheep for slaughter.
"I appreciate you leaving Xena to guide us. I know how much you hate leaving her alone for a long time." Leo said and I tapped him on the shoulder before speaking.
"Don't worry friend, I was the one that suggested the migration."
"Do you think we would ever unite one day? Do you think our children will ever know that we all have the same root?" He asked.
"Maybe we won't, maybe they will grow apart not remembering their roots. But, they will make new connections and be united in a different way than we did." He scoffed at my words.
"You are now speaking like Max." We both laughed and continued talking about the things we missed and how they will embrace the new place.
True to my word, we arrived in the North and it was as beautiful as they hoped it would be. The children were happy because they have never felt this warm before.
"It is so warm. In the South, we have always had issues with the extreme heat." Leo said and I nodded.
They don't have thick skin like wolves or have warm spells like heretics. I have always been sorry for their weak nature. Although I feel sorry for them, I have always felt like they have the highest potential. Their cunningness and craftiness have always left me in awe.
"I will be leaving then." The part I brought them is clean from the dead bodies and I suspected the dead bodies must have all decayed. I didn't want them to see things that would make them scared. I also plan to check around and hide all evidence if there is any.
"Don't be so rude, I know it is still not considered home since there is no house. Just trees, but it is our home starting from today. So, allow us to treat our first visitor nicely." I shrugged and decided to pass the night and it was a big mistake on my part.
That night they slaughtered one of the fattest sheep for me. We gathered in an open place and they sang and danced. I was happy for their happiness and hoped it would help to calm the raging hunger in me.
"It is a full moon." A boy said and I turned to the moon.
Wolves have always been affected by the moon but as we get older we get used to it. Lately, I have noticed that my hunger gets stronger in a full moon that is why it is better for me to control myself.
"Ouch!"
Leo screamed as he cut his palm with a knife and that was all it took for me to lose myself. I rushed towards him and sank my fang into his jugular. I was able to catch a glimpse of his face before I sank my fang into his neck. He wasn't scared but was worried about me. I felt his life slowly slipping away as his blood was being drained by me.
"You are the calamity, my friend." He whispered his last words and I let his body drop to the ground. They all went silent and the only sound that could be heard was the cracking of the fire and their heartbeats. I turned to them and they all gasped the moment they saw my bloody face.
"Run,"
this word was the only mercy I could show them for I am barely standing my ground. They all ran in different directions but it wouldn't be a problem to catch them. They are humans in a new and it is night. I am a wolf with night vision and I am also familiar with the land. I started hunting them down and I didn't deny the pleasure that came from that. Just as they always addressed, I am a hunter.
"Have mercy." A lady begged.
There are now less than half. Today was supposed to be joyous for them but I have made it a tragedy. I can remember her, she used to help Xena sometimes. She is a good woman and for Xena sake, I left her alive.
"Don't say a word about what happened here. Don't even pass it to the next generation. I will always come back and any day I suspect that what happened today has been passed down to the next generation. I will wipe you all from existence."
They all accepted with a broken heart and I was battling with mixed feelings. A part of me enjoyed it and hoped to do it again, and another part of me despised it for the sake of my angel mate. I left them in their sorrow and stopped at the little stream to wash the blood off my hand and face. I killed a lot of them and their blood flowed down to the stream and it turned blood. Then, I remembered the last words of Titus.
"Don't ever look up in the sky with hope when you can't live with yourself and don't think it will end. When you have turned the river red, remember there will be no salvation for you. Always keep your eyes on the horizon for one day, I will return and give you the last fun. My greatest gift to you is also my greatest curse, Nelson my friend." That was Titus's words.
"I will wait and show you fun, my friend." I smirked as the part of me that enjoyed the killing won.
