Chapter 98 Cressida and Yosef Confrontation
Cressida frowned slightly and held Jessica's arm.
"Don't panic, let me think of what to do."
Yosef was clearly coming after Cressida. Ethan served in the king's palace guard, and once accused of misconduct, his future would be ruined.
The Donny family's future would be destroyed.
Yosef was forcing Cressida to make a choice!
It seemed she had no choice but to attend tonight's ill-intentioned gathering.
"Jessica, listen carefully. I need you to do two things right now."
"Okay, Cressida, tell me!" Jessica took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
Cressida said, "Get Donny back. The fewer people who know about this, the better. As for the second thing..."
After Cressida finished explaining, Jessica nodded repeatedly, finally calming down a bit from her great panic.
After she left, Cressida had her maid help her get dressed.
Verity said directly, "Ms. Hamilton, Prince Yosef has bad intentions. If you go, you'll definitely get into trouble! Let me go instead."
Cressida put on her robe and pulled her hair out, securing it with just a hairpin and a ribbon.
"No need. If I don't go today, Prince Yosef will have other tricks tomorrow. He dares to provoke me again and again because he thinks I'm afraid."
Emma quickly asked, "Should Ms. Hamilton bring a dagger for protection?"
Cressida replied, "Don't bring anything."
She lifted her skirt and walked out, her smoky blue dress sweeping past the threshold.
The carriage rushed quickly toward Lake Cascade.
Pleasure boats usually docked here.
But when Cressida got off the carriage, she only saw a few empty flat boats.
The pleasure boats that were usually lively here were nowhere to be seen.
Cressida took a lantern and poled the boat, the long bamboo pole piercing into the dark lake water.
After going around the low mountain in the center of the lake, she gradually heard some sounds.
"Help! Help!" Someone seemed to be calling for help.
Cressida held up the lantern to shine ahead. Fortunately, the moonlight was bright, and she saw a woman struggling in the water.
Cressida pulled her up with the boat pole.
Once on the flat boat, the woman coughed up a lot of water, coughing violently, her face as pale as a ghost.
Seeing her revealing clothes, Cressida frowned, "Are you a courtesan from the pleasure boats?"
"Yes, thank you for saving my life!" The woman kowtowed to Cressida, calling herself Lily.
Cressida asked, "Why aren't these pleasure boats by the lake tonight?"
"Someone of high status rented three boats, and the rest of the boats can't dock here. I was thrown overboard by that high-status person." Lily sobbed, still seeming frightened.
If Cressida hadn't arrived in time, Lily would have drowned.
According to Lily, there was a person of high status on the boat tonight. Lily didn't know his identity, but the pleasure boat owner was very respectful to him.
Besides the high-status person, there was also an official who liked men. Because Lily didn't please him, the high-status person ordered his attendants to throw her overboard.
Cressida paddled the flat boat forward. Lily's face turned pale with fear.
"Benefactor, what's your relationship with them?"
"I'm here to find my brother. He was taken onto the boat." Cressida's tone was calm.
Cressida said, "After I row over, you paddle away yourself. Don't stay here."
Lily's face showed surprise, as if she had never seen a girl like Cressida who dared to come alone to the pleasure boats to find someone.
You should know that anything could happen on pleasure boats, and even a glance would be unbearable for ordinary girls.
Just as Lily said, three large boats were connected front to back, stopped in the middle of the lake, close to Lake Cascade but separated from the shore by two mountain islands.
Getting closer, she could vaguely hear loud laughter and distinctly lewd sounds.
Cressida handed the boat pole to Lily, then flew onto the ship's deck like a swallow.
"Who's there!" The guard standing on deck immediately attacked.
Inside the cabin, two seductive beauties clustered around Ethan.
Ethan's head was on the table, already passed out drunk.
A pot-bellied official walked over and pushed Ethan's head with a wine jug.
"Mr. Hamilton? Can't drink anymore?"
Three officials around him laughed at the same time.
Yosef sat at the head, holding his cup with a cold smile, watching the others humiliate Ethan.
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside.
Yosef's narrow eyes showed a dangerous look, glancing toward the beaded curtain at the door.
The guard lowered his head and said quietly, "Prince Yosef, she's here."
Yosef smiled with satisfaction and drank all the liquor in his cup.
"No one is to make a move. I want to deal with her myself."
Knowing Cressida dared to come, the beast inside Yosef awakened again, his blood boiling.
Cressida was truly an interesting woman.
A slender, upright figure appeared at the beaded curtain.
Cressida wore a smoky blue dress, simple without any complex patterns.
Her hair was held up with just a jade hairpin, the ends tied with a ribbon.
Even though she had just knocked down more than ten guards outside, her clothes were not disheveled at all.
She gently lifted the curtain and entered, calm and composed, as if she were here to have fun.
As soon as Cressida entered, she felt a cold flash before her.
She immediately leaned back, and a sharp knife flew past the tip of her nose.
The beaded curtain rustled from the knife's wind. Cressida moved quickly, and in the instant she retreated, she had already grabbed Yosef's wrist holding the knife.
Her fingertips pressed down, with precise and ruthless force.
Yosef felt his wrist go numb, the knife already out of his hand. Cressida flicked her hand, and the knife embedded itself in a beam.
He instantly borrowed the momentum to spin, his left arm blocking her fierce strike, his right hand gripping Cressida's sharp punch.
But Cressida lifted her foot to kick. Yosef dodged sideways.
The wine jug on the table was kicked to pieces by her, the fragments like weapons, pinning into the pants of an official right in front of his crotch.
The officials who were just watching the show immediately scrambled away in fear, hiding behind the curtains.
Yosef saw she was serious now, and was even more satisfied.
His moves were fierce and aggressive. Cressida moved flexibly, retreating again and again.
But Yosef knew Cressida wasn't avoiding him—she was looking for an opportunity.
Cressida changed her fist to a palm, grabbed Yosef's wrist, and chopped toward the weakest part of his neck.
Yosef immediately raised his arm to block her killing move, but unexpectedly, she locked his left shoulder.
There was a sound of bones dislocating.
Yosef immediately covered his arm and stepped back.
Cressida also retreated, putting distance between them.
Yosef looked down at his left shoulder, hanging limply.
She had actually dislocated his arm.
"You're so fierce," Yosef said playfully, grabbed his arm and pushed it back with one hand. It immediately moved freely, and he rolled his neck.
The guards around immediately surged forward, protecting Yosef.
"How dare you! You dare attack Prince Yosef!"
Only then did Cressida bow with clasped hands, "I didn't see clearly just now that it was Prince Yosef. I thought it was a villain. My apologies."
Yosef laughed coldly.
She didn't see clearly? That killing move just now was aimed right at him!
He suddenly felt a burning pain in his jaw.
He touched it with his fingertips and actually saw blood.
Yosef suddenly frowned.
She had actually injured him?
