Chapter 104 Yosef Comes to Find Cressida
The carriage arrived at The Hamilton Mansion. Before it even came to a complete stop, Yosef had already lifted the curtain and stepped down.
He strode inside with large steps. The gatekeeper was frightened by his imposing manner and hurriedly chased after him.
"Sir, who are you looking for? Do you have an invitation? You...!"
The gatekeeper was kicked down directly by Yosef's trusted attendant.
"This is His Highness Yosef," the attendant said coldly. "Go get Mr. Hamilton now!"
The gatekeeper clutched his chest, too panicked to complain about the pain. His face changed drastically upon hearing Yosef's name.
He scrambled away in a hurry.
Patrick walked briskly, leading Noah toward the main hall.
He gave orders at the same time: "Quick, go get Rose."
Noah looked troubled: "Mr. Patrick Hamilton! Ms. Rose Hamilton hasn't fully recovered yet."
Patrick thought he was done for.
If Yosef saw Rose injured and found out upon questioning that Patrick had beaten her, he would surely punish him!
Patrick immediately broke into a cold sweat and grabbed Noah.
"No, I can't face him. Just say I'm not at the estate and have Donny deal with him!"
Patrick was just turning to leave when a cold voice came from behind: "Mr. Hamilton, where are you going!"
Patrick's whole body froze instantly, as if turned to ice.
He turned around. Yosef had swept over like a gust of wind and was now right in front of him.
Yosef narrowed his eyes and glanced at Noah: "What, I come to your estate and you want to hide?"
"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare!" Patrick quickly bowed with clasped hands, bending as low as he could. "I just remembered I'm not wearing proper clothes. I was afraid of offending Your Highness Yosef, so I wanted to go back and fix my appearance."
Yosef waved his hand: "No need! I'm not here for you anyway. I'm here for your daughter."
With that, Yosef walked past Patrick, heading straight forward.
Cold sweat quickly ran down Patrick's face.
"Your Highness Yosef! Your Highness Yosef!" Patrick chased after him. "My daughter is injured recently and can't receive visitors."
Yosef laughed coldly: "Injured? More like she injured someone else!"
With Cressida's skills, it would be doing good if she didn't hurt others!
These were all Patrick's excuses!
Seeing that Yosef had no intention of stopping, Patrick felt extremely regretful!
If he had known Yosef cared so much about Rose and would even come to the door looking for her, how would he Patrick have dared to beat Rose?
Patrick now felt like a huge sword was hanging over his head, just short of killing him!
He dropped to his knees with a thud and grabbed Yosef's sleeve.
Yosef looked back, frowning: "What's the meaning of this?"
Patrick looked terrified: "Your Highness Yosef, my daughter is truly injured, and it's her leg. She can't get out of bed. If you just go looking for her like this, it will ruin her reputation!"
Yosef looked at Patrick's attitude. It didn't seem fake.
Yosef narrowed his eyes, full of suspicion.
"Who injured her?" Yosef asked.
Patrick nearly fainted from holding his breath.
His lips trembled: "I, I..."
Yosef looked at him: "You what? You hit her?"
Patrick's head hit the ground with a bang: "I deserve to die! She went out at night, and to maintain family discipline, I punished her, so..."
"How dare you, Patrick!" Yosef interrupted him sharply. "You were that ruthless?"
Patrick was sweating profusely: "I know I was wrong, I'll..."
Before he could finish, Yosef laughed mockingly and helped him up.
"Strict family discipline isn't wrong. If you ask me, you did well to hit her!" Yosef said.
Patrick was stunned.
Patrick stared blankly at Yosef's expression, trying to see if Yosef had some hidden meaning.
Unexpectedly, Yosef said with a sneer: "You're her biological father. When you hit her, naturally she doesn't dare fight back. How ridiculous! She only dares to show off in front of me."
Patrick snapped out of his shock: "Your Highness Yosef, what biological father? You've misunderstood. Rose is my goddaughter."
The cold smile on Yosef's thin lips froze.
"Rose? Rose?"
"Yes, isn't that who Your Highness Yosef was asking about?"
Yosef's handsome face turned completely dark.
"I'm asking about Cressida." His voice was extremely cold, with a hint of gritting teeth.
Patrick paused, as if relieved.
"Cressida..." He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. "A person of noble status came to the estate today. She's in the back garden flying kites with him. If Your Highness Yosef wants to see her, I'll call her over right away."
Yosef raised an eyebrow: "Which person of noble status?"
Patrick said: "Little Duke Anthony."
Hearing this name, Yosef laughed: "So my dear nephew is here. Perfect, I'll see them together. Lead the way."
Patrick was puzzled but didn't dare ask why. He could only bow and agree.
In the back garden, Cressida was helping Anthony reel in the kite string.
"Ms. Hamilton, I have to leave soon. When can you come to the palace where I live to teach me? You haven't come in so long." Anthony was a bit reluctant to part.
Cressida wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief.
"It's been too hot lately. Wait a while, and when I'm not busy, I'll teach you at the martial arts school."
Miguel hadn't asked to see her in a long time. He had most likely abandoned her as a chess piece.
Cressida naturally wouldn't go over and make a fool of herself.
In the days ahead, she would work hard on her own.
Anthony pouted unhappily: "But you said that practicing requires not fearing cold or heat, and what's important is perseverance."
"Do you know how inconvenient it is for me to come see you? I have to sneak here behind my father's back, otherwise he'll blame me for troubling you. I finally got this chance when he had to leave Emerald City for three days. Who knows when we'll meet again next time."
Cressida smiled. Emma said from the side: "Little Duke, Ms. Cressida Hamilton has been quite busy lately. Mrs. Mabel Hamilton, who manages all the estate's household affairs, was injured not long ago and is still recovering. The entire estate relies on Ms. Cressida Hamilton to run it."
After hearing this, Anthony's tender, handsome face showed understanding.
"Alright then, I'll wait until Ms. Hamilton is done with her work. During this time, I'll practice diligently!"
"I believe in you." Cressida stood up. "Let me take you to have some cool drinks and rest a bit?"
"Okay!"
Anthony took the initiative to grab Cressida's finger with his small hand.
Cressida paused, a bit unaccustomed to it, but didn't refuse his touch.
Just as she turned around, she saw a figure who shouldn't be anywhere on the estate walking toward her.
Emma and Verity exchanged glances.
Why was Yosef here?
Anthony was puzzled: "Uncle?"
Yosef walked over, his narrow eyes carrying a cold look as they swept across Cressida's face.
Cressida remained quite calm and curtsied to him: "Greetings, Your Highness Yosef."
"Uncle, why are you here?" Anthony asked.
Yosef rubbed his head: "Go play over there. I have something to ask Ms. Hamilton."
Anthony's small hand swatted away his large palm, staring at him unhappily.
"Men and women shouldn't be alone together. You can't talk to her privately."
"Now you're managing my affairs?" Yosef's eyes were gloomy.
But Anthony wasn't afraid of him, puffing out his small chest: "If you bully people, I'll tell Grandfather."
Cressida hadn't expected that when Anthony showed his spirit, he truly had the bearing of royalty.
Doyle was very fond of Anthony, so naturally Anthony dared to defy Yosef's demands.
