Chapter 84 His Purpose

Chapter 84 His Purpose
\[Tabitha’s POV\]

I run a finger along August’s chest while he lets his fingers tickle my exposed thigh.

“You’re becoming a thorn in my side, woman.” He husks in my ear. “But since I’m in a good mood, I’ll humor you. What exactly is it you want from me?”

Flinching, I try to remain calm as I realize that he may be testing me. Either he was actually able to see through the glamor that surrounded me or he was pushing to see if I would give myself away.

“Not here,” I whisper, pressing myself closer to him. “Somewhere more private.”

Deciding to go along with my request, August stands while continuing to cradle me in his arms. Giving me a wicked grin, he begins to move through the crowd, carrying me out of the main hall and up the stairs toward the rooms. When we reach, he steps inside and then closes the door before making his way to a large round bed covered in black velvet pillows and comforter.

“Now,” he says, depositing me on it and taking the flutes of champagne I still carry. “Why don’t you tell me exactly what it is that you’re trying to do?"

Giving a slow smile, I reach up and grab a hold of his shirt, then pull so that he is leaning over me.

“What if I just wanted to give a fae dick a try?” I purr, running my hands down his body until I reach the top of his pants. “Is that so bad?”

“Alright,” he chuckles, going along with me. “But I must warn you: once you’ve tried it, you will become addicted.”

“Is that so?”

Keeping my gaze fixed on his, I begin to undo his belt while hoping that Atticus and Vance will appear before this goes too far. However, with each passing minute, neither man shows, and I start to wonder if they’ve gotten trapped by something or someone.

“Why are you hesitating?” August asks when my fingers stop moving on his button. “Are you going to ruin your act now?”

“No,” I murmur, deciding to continue moving.

Swallowing, I start to undo his pants, and once I’ve managed to unbutton and unzip them, I start to pull, but before they’re fully down, I kick out, causing August to fall to the ground. Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, I attack, jumping on top of him and holding him in place, but instead of looking angry or scared, he has a look of amusement on his handsome face.

“What?” He asks when I stare on. “Do you truly think I didn’t know what was happening? I am not that easy to trick.”

As he speaks, he bucks and then flips so that I’m pinned beneath him. Lifting a knee, I attempt to connect between his legs, but he grabs me and hooks my leg over his shoulder so that I’m left in a very unsavory position.

“You can’t beat me, sweetheart,” August purrs, leaning down and running his tongue along my neck, where Atticus’ mark stands. “And your glamours don’t work on an ancient fae like me.”

“Ancient?” I repeat, just how old was this bastard, and who exactly was he? “What’s your purpose? Why did you allow the vampires to hunt in your club, and why did you erase Attius’ memories?”

“So that your path was corrected,” he responds easily. “Atticus was never meant to cross your path.”

Never meant to cross my path? What the hell did that even mean, and why was he acting like he was fate himself? Or was he?

“You figure it out?” August asks as my eyes grow wide. "Good. I’m glad to know that you aren’t stupid, especially since you will be needed to eliminate all the vampires.”

“Eliminate them?”

“Your kind was never meant to exist in this world, but it was a mishap that I missed you in the process of eliminating them.”

Frowning, I consider his words as images of my past self begin to emerge, but I still don’t remember enough to know exactly how Evangaline came to be or how long she truly lived.

“Your fate is and always has been to undo what your past self did,” August continues when I don’t speak. “But in order for that to happen, you needed to be captured by those vampire brothers and taken to the place where they all dwelled.”

“If that was the case, why didn’t you just get rid of them yourself?” I demand. “Why go through all of this trouble?”

“Why get my hands dirty when others can do it for me?” He shrugs. “Now that you have awakened, the end has begun. It is just a matter of time before it is complete.”

The end had begun. What in the world did that even mean? Did it mean that something was going to happen to wipe out all of the vampires? It wasn’t like I didn’t want the same thing, but when I thought of Vance and everything he was doing to help me, I couldn’t stop the need to at least save him.

“What is this end?” I ask slowly. “What’s going to happen?”

“The purging,” August responds, his eyes flashing with excitement. “One by one, your kind will die a slow and painful death. And when it is finally over, no one will be able to survive.”

Done speaking, he pushes down against me more so that I can feel his erect dick. Ugh, this bastard was actually getting off by talking about death.

“Now that I’ve given you what you wanted, it is time for you to give me what I want,” he husks, pressing his lips against my jaw. “After all, you scared away my prey.”

“Like hell, I’m going to let you do disgusting things to me." I begin to growl.

“I don’t think you have much of a choice, sweetheart,” he chuckles, grabbing the neck of my dress and pulling so that it rips open, exposing my bra beneath. “Your friends are too busy right now to come help you.”

As he speaks, he hooks his finger into the top of my bra and pulls until my breasts are exposed, and once they are, he attacks, wrapping his mouth around my nipple and then biting down hard.

Gasping, I start to fight against him, but he’s too strong, and with each passing minute, he is biting down on my breast again and again until it is covered in bloody teeth marks. And when he lifts his head, I can see that his lips and sharp teeth are painted red.

“I’ve forgotten what a vampiress tastes like,” he murmurs, licking his lips in delight. “I’m going to take my time with you.”

“No,” I hiss, strengthening my attempts to break free, but before I can make any headway, he wraps a hand around my throat and squeezes.

Eyes widening, I reach up and start to claw at his wrist while dark spots dance in front of my vision.

“It’s better if you just stop fighting,” August chuckles, pressing his mouth against mine and pulling my lip between his teeth. “It’s much more enjoyable that way.”

“N-no,” I rasp, trying to remain conscious. “I won’t…”

The rest of my words are lost as the sound of wood groaning erupts around us, followed by a loud snarl.

“GET THE FUCK OFF OF HER!”

I’m not sure whose voice it is due to the ringing in my ears, but when August’s weight disappears from my body, I feel a wave of relief roll through me before the world disappears entirely.
