Chapter 28 Take Away
\[Atticus’ POV\]
I slash out, attempting to cut the vampire's fucking throat, only for him to dodge me with a look of amusement on his face.
“Gotta be quicker than that,” he chuckles. "I'm not some novice irritating fae; I've been around for years, and I've learned a thing or two."
Ignoring his taunt, I begin to move again, attacking with all my might while he jumps around, easily dodging each of my attacks, until he is standing in front of a window with a look of boredom on his face.
“As much as I’m enjoying this, I must get going.”
Giving a wink, he throws himself backwards as I move, slashing out again, this time managing to hit his chest before he topples out of the window. Cursing, I move to follow but stop as a whimper sounds from behind me. Turning, I take in Tabitha as she reaches between her thighs in an attempt to relieve the effects of the fucking venom the damned vampire put in her.
"Dammit!" I growl, clamping my hand so my weapon disappears. “Next time.”
For now, I would let the fucking vampire get away, but when I found him, I would make sure that he paid for what he did.
Huffing in frustration, I drop down beside Tabitha and pull her against me as she whimpers again while reaching out and grabbing me.
“Please,” she whispers, her eyes sparkling with lust. “Help me.”
“Not like this,” I sigh, pulling her against me and standing. “But there’s no fucking way that I’m going to let you stay here,” I continue, taking in the room around me that wreaks of sex and vampires. “We’ll come back tomorrow for your stuff.”
With that, I begin to move but stop as a large body comes crashing toward me. Huffing, I step out of the way and watch as he slams into the wall, making a hole.
“Why are you here?” I ask, eyeing Anthony as he slowly gets up while looking around wildly. “You’re a bit late.”
I was already pissed off over what I witnessed happening between Tabitha and the vampire, but now here was this bastard waltzing in like he owned the place.
“What’s wrong with her?” Anthony growls, closing the distance between us and attempting to take her from me. “What did you do?”
“I didn’t do shit,” I snap, holding on tighter. “It was a fucking vampire.”
“Vampire,” Anthony repeats, his eyes widening before filling with disbelief. “There’s no way.”
“How do you explain this, then?” I demand, nodding toward the woman in my arms. “I found her with the fucking vampire. They were fucking, and she seemed to be enjoying it. Now she can’t seem to calm down because that bastard's venom is in her.”
“There’s no way,” Anthony repeats more strongly. “I don’t know what you’re trying to play at, but to claim, she would never let a vampire touch her.”
Frowning, I take him in as his gaze, which remains on Tabitha, fills with worry and disbelief. I wasn’t sure if he was trying to convince me that there was no way vampires could be involved or himself, but honestly, I didn’t fucking care.
“Believe what you’d like, but I can assure you it won’t happen again.”
Not waiting for a response, I begin to move, making my way toward the apartment exit while Anthony hurries to catch up with me.
“Where are you taking her?” He demands, attempting to take her from me again. “There’s no way I’m going to..."
Growing frustrated with his act, I lift a hand and let ice erupt around his feet before continuing to move while he remains in place, fighting to break free.
Ignoring his yells of rage, I step into the elevator, press the down button, and then wait until it arrives so I can step inside and close the door behind me.
When I reach the bottom floor, I begin to move while ignoring the stares that I’m receiving from those who are coming and going for the evening due to Tabitha’s whimpers and attempts at touching herself, or maybe it is because she is fully naked; either way, I don’t give two shits.
“You really are a headache,” I sigh, stepping out of the building and making my way to my car. “Did you know that?”
She doesn’t respond as we reach our destination and throw her into the backseat and hook her in before climbing into the driver's seat and revving the car to life, but when I begin to move, Anthony flings himself onto my hood.
Slamming on the horn, I glare at him as he fixes me with a look of defiance.
“Do you have a death wish?” I sigh after putting down my window. “Doing something like this is borderline suicide.”
“You weren’t going fast enough to kill me,” he points out, remaining in place. “I told you that you weren’t taking her anywhere, at least not without me.”
Without him? Was he out of his fucking mind? There was no fucking way that he was going to come back to my place with us.
“Get the hell off my car!” I snap, beginning to move again. “I’m not in the mood for your ridiculous antics.”
“I’m serious,” he hisses. “If she really was just with a vampire, then there’s no fucking way I’m letting her out of my sight, not after..."
He doesn’t finish his words as his expression shifts.
For a moment, I don’t speak as I take him in and consider his actions, and when I’ve finally had enough of my mind wondering, I slam the horn again.
“Get in,” I snap, throwing open the passenger side door. “You’re going to explain everything to me along the way.”
It was becoming increasingly clear that Tabitha had some history with these bloodsuckers, and since I was now involved, I wanted to be completely aware of what was happening.
“I’m not telling you shit,” Anthony snaps, but climbs in anyway.
“Tell me, or I’ll turn you into a fucking popsicle,” I warn. “My patience is growing thin, and if you think that I’m some kind being who won’t torture you to learn what I need, then you're..."
“Leave him alone.”
Feeling a wave of relief rush through me, I look back to find that Tabitha is slowly beginning to come to.
“Are you snapping out of it?” I ask, reaching around and touching her cheek, an act that earns me a growl of annoyance from Anthony. “Are you in pain anywhere?”
“I’m…” She begins but stops as her face pales and she lifts a hand to her lips. “I think I’m going to be sick.”
