Chapter 52
KRAY
We heard that this little town was mostly shifter chicks.
The leader of our club, Jasper, got married a couple of days ago, and instead of going on a ride to celebrate, he decided to take his new wife to the beaches. Fine. We were going to celebrate for him.
We’d already made our way through a couple of shifter towns, admittedly causing some trouble along the way, but this was the only way to let it all out. If you didn’t live life to the fullest you were wasting so much damn potential.
Shifters aren’t meant to work a nine to five, hell I’m not even sure humans are.
We’re supposed to get out there and grab everything we can. I’d grabbed many in my life.
I couldn't imagine getting married, wasting away with just one person to depress and take away from who I was. Every man I'd ever seen get married softened in a way, within six months he'd leave the club and act like he had something better all of a sudden.
What about brotherhood?
We were a family, and ditching all of that for one chick when you could get dozens instead was insanity.
Hopefully, our club leader would be able to keep his head out of his ass, but with this honeymoon, I couldn't be too sure about it.
Ember Abyss seemed like a nice enough third stop.
The female-to-male ratio is through the roof, which meant there was lots of tail to chase and trouble to make. Hell, when we found out that even the bar and hotel we were staying at was run and owned by women, it sounded like heaven. I didn't even have to walk five feet from my bed to find some girl to talk to.
My club could be a little rowdy, I get it, but we liked having fun. We were celebrating that a man was on his way to getting pups.
As much as I didn’t want to settle down, I couldn’t lie and say that having some cubs of my own wasn’t always at the back of my mind. Breeding some shifter until she was just forever pregnant with my long line of offspring.
That was so far off my radar, though. Just a passing thought, nothing concrete. Until now.
When she walked into the bar, all fire, and anger, we locked eyes and there was something there. I don't know what to call it, my mom would have called it kismet, but she was a leopard shifter and they've always been superstitious.
This woman, full of fury and upset, caught my eyes and nose, and it was over.
I needed her.
I didn’t know for how long, or if I wanted her for anything besides sex, but I got hard just looking at her. She smelled amazing, like cigar smoke and cherries. I wanted a taste. Her dark brown, almost black, hair was pulled back away from her face in some kind of messy bun, and her neck looked damn tantalizing. It was a tease that I wasn’t even sure she was doing on purpose. Not to mention her body, her hips could make a man cry with how full and tantalizing they were. I wanted to grab a handful of that ass on sight.
I saw her before she saw me.
Our eyes met and it felt like losing your footing. The world seemed to stumble around me, jolting my brain into full alert. She seemed to hesitate for just a moment. God, I needed to know if she felt it, too. It couldn’t have just been me.
She asked us to leave and I had to laugh. “No.”
Hell no, not until I figured out what the fuck she was.
“I can have you escorted out by the police, or you can go out easy,” she countered. Her voice and her posture were sure and stern, but her almond-colored eyes were giving me a different story. She wanted me, too, even if she couldn’t admit it to herself yet, the attraction was there.
“When we came up, she said that none of the hotel rooms were taken, we could pick whatever ones we wanted,” I said.
“You’re staying in my hotel, too?” she sounded even more frustrated. Good.
I’d get to her eventually.
The challenge was a nice change.
“Yeah, and it looks like you could use the money,” I laughed. “Look, I’ll tell the boys to settle down, and have them clean up the mess a little, but we aren’t going anywhere. You can’t afford for us to go.”
She looked like she was struggling between wanting to kill me and wanting to just walk away.
“I can’t afford for you to ruin my bar or hotel either,” she countered. “You’ll have to pay for the damages to the floor.” I didn’t notice the long line of scratches from the table, but I shrugged.
“Whatever, we’re just in town to get some tail and then we’ll leave.” She rolled her eyes.
“If you want, you could hurry up that process a little.” I leaned closer to her.
Was that a tinge of blush on her cheeks?
“No thanks, I don’t go near bikers.” She rolled her eyes again.
“I’m not just any biker. You felt that - I know you did,” I said in almost a growl. Even if we weren’t soul mates, whatever this connection was meant she’d be a good fuck.
“I didn’t feel shit,” she tossed back at me. God, she was hot.
“You’re going to be begging for me by the end of our week here, I know it,” I shrugged. “Might be easier to just cut to the chase now.”
She opened her mouth to reply, closed it to think, and then responded. “Get them under control or I’ll call the police.”
She walked away before I could reply, heading to the bar to help her employee. Watching her ass as she went just upped my appetite for her. What the hell was she doing in a little bar like this, a woman like that deserved the world.
Catching my train of thought, I stopped it in its tracks and turned back to the guys. They had caused more trouble than they usually did. What cansaysaywe liked getting out and having fun!
