Theo's POV:
Everywhere is still in commotion due to Drew's death and Pravi't' Mirom still on the loose. Just saying the word 'death' makes my body itch. I still haven't accepted the fact that he's dead and I don't know if I can.
Drew.
The only free-spirited human being I know, the only guy I know that has a heart truly, the guy with the brown hair, hazel eyes and still complains so much about how he hates his eye colour. The same guy whose only dream was to make everyone happy and to date girls in bikinis, that same guy is the one that is dead within a blink of the eye.
We decide to give drew a proper burial as he deserved it, he was going to be buried like the hero he was, he died for his country and no one should forget that.
This place is still on lock down which is a good thing, no one will have the chance to escape not even Major as we walk our way to meet the General right now, as it is the only reasonable thing to do.
We couldn't possible take down Major alone that would be suicide, suicide for me and I'm not stupid to fall into his traps again.
Drew said something that, the Major was planning something and it involves me. I want to find out what it is before I can completely be at rest.
"Sir," We salute as we get to his office and he releases us.
"Theo, it is my deepest sympathy I give to you about Drew, he was a boy with so much love and happiness in him and it baffles me because I still don't understand who would want to kill him." General says.
"But don't you worry I've got my eyes everywhere now." The General continues sounding sympathetic and furious at the same time.
"Thank you sir," I replied.
"I do have some news. It seems like the CCTV that was there when drew was poisoned, has been hacked which means the person actually knew what he was doing." General informs us going back to his seat.
"Sir about that we have something," Lisa replies.
"You do? What is it?" General asks as Lisa goes to lock the door.
"We know it would be hard for you to believe us that's why we brought evidence," I take out the recorder from my pocket and hand it to him.
"Before drew died I asked him to look into something for me, you see when I went to the Major the other day I overheard him talking to someone and my name was mentioned so I asked drew to spy on him which was wrong and unprofessional of me,also the biggest mistake I shouldn't have done," I stop.
"You asked him to spy on the Major? Captain. Do you know the offence of such? " General asks furious.
"Sir he had a reason," Lisa interrupts as the General nods for me to go on.
"He planted a recorder in Major's office which he gave to me before he died," I tell him as I play what's in the recorder.
"It’s Charles and... Vladimir," General bangs the table with his fist. "What is
going on here?"
"Sir that's not all. He noticed he was being trailed and that's why he poisoned Drew. He is responsible for Drew's death," I admit and the General looks at me in rage.
"What are you saying Theo? You don't have evidence for that. That's an accusation and can put you in a really bad place" The General paces around, but turns to me to show his fury.
"Sir I know that clearly, but isn't this enough evidence. I'm telling the truth Sir and the Major is responsible for Drew's death," I defend.
"Okay let's say I do believe you and its true, but that means this place is doomed already for the Major to be into business like this," General Furies.
"Sir what are we going to do about it?" Lisa asked.
"Oh you guys aren't doing anything about it, I will. The only thing I need you to do now is to run facial recognition on everyone going and coming out of this country, at least with that we can know where they are going. He said Derek was going with them?" General asked.
"Yes sir," I reply.
"Good, it’s time to catch these bastards once and for all, and as for Charles I'll handle it. Get to work immediately we have no time to waste. As for this," General points at the recorder.
"This is what we have on him and what we'll use against him if he tries to deny it. I just can't believe Charles would do this, he may not be working alone." General talks before he orders us to go.
Lisa and I are with Jessie looking out for everyone one going out or coming in of the country when we hear yelling.
"What do you think you're doing, you'll get yourself fired if you don't let go of me now!" The voices raise as I leave to see what was happening.
They Major is as two soldiers hold unto his hands, dragging him through the floor from his office.
"I asked them to do this," General comes in.
"What? Why? Sir I have not been informed of any wrong doings," Major says as the two soldiers hold him firmly.
"Take him!" General orders as they take him for torturing.
When I mean torturing I don't mean normal torturing of bleeding his nose and so. What I mean is pressing an hot iron on his face, dragging him through the mud, beating him till his lungs give out and he confesses.
"Captain, come with me and bring the lieutenant along." General orders as I go to get Lisa.
"If you see anything just call me right away," I tell Jess as Lisa and I make way to meet the General.
We get to the torturing room as the Major has been stripped off all his clothes and only left with his pants. General orders Lisa to come over as the other soldiers release him leaving Lisa to do the torturing. How I pity this man but I shouldn't, he deserves it.
"Please, please, please why are you doing this?" Major yells as Lisa puckers his skin with a blade. This is what I call torturing.
In the army you get to go through series of training that you eventually get used to it but that doesn't mean you have the right to use it on other people except when offended. As a soldier it’s not like we're vicious or evil it just, desperate times call for desperate measures. I don't relate to violence but being a soldier you have to take some steps with these criminal let's just say with the training we had we become a soldier.
But that doesn't make us mean, or vicious to people, we only torture when asked to. It’s actually not my wish.
"Who killed Drew?" Lisa yells as she presses the blade on his face dragging it close to his chin. Major screams in pain as blood covers his face.
"Pl... Please...I don't know." Major denies. Lisa turns back to the General as he gestures for her to take the hot iron. "No, no, no," Major pleads.
She places the hot iron on his naked back as it stayed there for about thirty seconds before removing it again.
"I said who killed Drew?" Lisa asks again as I watch her take the hot water and pour it directly at the burnt skin.
His screams can be heard from miles away as he breath lowered. We've been at this for about ten minutes and the Major keeps on denying his offence.
Lisa takes the hot iron and stamps it on his body a little longer than usual. "I'll talk... I'll talk...It... I.. I did." He says with ragged breaths.
Finally.
"What did you do?" Lisa takes the hot water as she poured it again on his back making him scream all to make him say those words.
"I killed Drew, I killed him," Major spat as blood rushes out of his mouth. Lisa looks at me and then to the General as he tells her to stop.
"Are you ready to talk?" The General goes beside him and holds out his chin as he squeezed it making Major scream again.
"I will," The Major answers lowly.
"What is your offence?" Lisa asks as the Major gulps hard. "I...I killed Drew," He begins.
"Why did you kill him?" I ask making my way forward to him.
"I...I...I killed him...because...because he saw me talking to Vladimir." Major answers.
"What were you talking to him about and why were you talking to him?" Lisa asks as she kneels down to face him.
"He... We were talking about... about... I was asking him of a way to bail out Captain even if it..." He stutters as the General cuts him off.
"Shut up! You still have the guts to lie? How dare you?" General rages.
General nods for Lisa to continue but this time something more. She takes the rope on the stand as she lashes it out on him making him scream once more"It
would have been easier on you if you just told the truth, you see we know everything. Listen to this," General speaks before playing the recording to him.
"Ho...how did you get that?" His eye becoming wide open as he tries to struggle from the restrains.
"You see, before drew died I was the one who told him to follow you, so when he was dying he gave me this recorder as an evidence which he planted in your office against you. Now what I want to know is why you talked about me with Vladimir," I cut in.
" I can't, I can't tell you that, I swore an oath so either I tell you or not I'm a dead man," Charles says making the General more furious.
"Oh so you'd rather be a dead man to the army than Vladimir?" Lisa asks.
By the looks of it Charles is really scared of Vladimir, how dangerous is he? I know he is dangerous but I didn't expect Charles to be in it.
"How did you get into this mess Charles? What led you to it? You had a good job. Good pay, what else?" General asks looking at him in pity.
"What got me into this? You think I wanted this huh? Try escaping Vladimir when he has your wife and kids under surveillance 24\7." So that is it.
Now I feel bad for him. Vladimir is a beast, how could he? I look at the Major in pity as he stares back.
"Why didn't you come to me? You know I could have done something about it," General says.
"Come to you? What would you have done, you all know nothing, especially you Theo, you know nothing." Charles adds.
"What are you talking about?" I move closer and knelt down beside him as Lisa gets up.
"General, Captain, lieutenant. We've got Vladimir." Jess comes running in as she sees the Major and turns away. "Oh God." She backs away.
"We'll finish this later," General orders as we leave with jess.
"We searched every airport in the U.S for facial recognition of Vladimir but we got nothing, but then can you remember the guy the FBI caught that deals with drugs for Vladimir?" Jess asks.
There was this guy named Rodriguez, he usually deals with drugs for Vladimir and he got caught but after some month in jail Vladimir busted him out apparently he was good for business to Vladimir.
"Yes, go on," I say.
"Yeah, so we also ran facial recognition on every one of Vladimir's boys and then came a hit. International airport. Rodriguez and some of Vladimir's boys are there right now," Jess continues.
"So what of Vladimir?" Lisa asks.
"We searched but couldn't find him anywhere, then we searched for all those who have left the airport days ago, ran facial recognition and then we got a hit, he left the country a day ago and the rest are going to meet him there,"Jess furthers.
"To where?" I ask.
"They have already booked their flight and it leaves in thirty minutes. They're going to Nigeria Sir."
