Chapter 67 A Queen Among Tides: Chapter Sixty-Seven - Sebastian
Chapter 67 A Queen Among Tides: Chapter Sixty-Seven - Sebastian
I wasn’t nervous about Circe’s execution. I wasn’t even nervous about being given charge over a monolithic magical crystal now living in the oceanic version of my basement. But my first date with my soulmate? That has me nervous as fuck. Seems weird that I’m basically the supernatural equivalent of married and yet we’ve never been on a date. I mean, that night at the club does not count and that did not end well. I want… no, I need tonight to be perfect. That’s why I called in reinforcements.
I’ve just finished setting the table on my family’s yacht. Lemuel said he always felt at peace when he was on a boat on the water, so I want to give him an updated version of that, and no one has used the yacht in ages, so I figured it was time to dust off the cobwebs. The yacht is a Black Pearl and is one of the most eco-friendly yachts on the market. It’s 106.7 metres long and can reach speeds of up to 30 knots under sail and with a top cruising speed of 17.5 knots by motor. It has the ability to generate electricity using its propeller, effectively acting as a turbine. In addition to that, the power source of this beauty is in the fabric of the 3 2900 square meter sails that stand tall and proud, as they are made of solar panels, which allows the yacht to generate electricity while sailing. How cool is that?
It has 3 levels, and the sails are black while the main exterior of the yacht is navy blue, with the upper deck being white. What it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in size, but the interior is a whole other matter. I plan to give Lemuel the full tour, of course, but I want most of our date to take place on the bridge deck. There’s a large U-shaped cushioned seating area with a large table and I’ve just finished setting it up with our best China, crystal glassware and a slim crystal vase with white roses, and a bucket of ice with a bottle of sparkling Poeme Brut from Debina chilling. I’ve even set up candles around the table and all around the deck for atmosphere because who doesn’t love a candle?
I’m checking my pocket for the necklace I planned to give to Lemuel when I hear my mother’s frustrated voice from behind me.
“You would think they would understand this is a special occasion for their King and Queen and work towards something remarkable and unique instead of tired and basic,” my mother huffs.
I turn around in confusion, “Who are we talking about?”
“The chefs! I was going over the five-course menu and I was most disappointed. I know you said you wanted a seafood menu, but I didn’t think they’d pick such dull ingredients,” she says with disappointment.
“Why, what did they pick?”
“For entrée they were planning a ceviche, how boring,” she says rolling her eyes.
I bite back a smile, “Mother, they know what they’re doing and I’m sure it will be delicious. I trust them,” I say soothingly.
“I just want this night to be perfect for you,” she pouts.
My face softens and I immediately walk over and wrap my mother in a tight hug and feel her delicate arms circle my waist. I place a gentle kiss on her forehead, “I’m lucky to have a mother like you.”
“As true as that may be, I still want this to be a memorable evening,” she says, cupping my face as she smiles up at me.
“I already got the guy, even if it goes badly we can at least laugh about it in the future,” I say, deciding in this moment I won’t let any hiccups ruin my good mood.
“I’m so proud of you,” she says with tears in her eyes.
“I’m proud of me too,” I grin, causing her to swat my arm.
“Alright, everything is looking good, and Rhea and Pierce will be guarding you tonight, they’ve already taken their posts below the water,” announces my father, stepping onto the deck, “We really need to find you new guards,” he says with concern.
“I can’t just replace my friends, father.”
“I know son, but this is about your safety. Not only do you need new guards, but Lemuel will be needing guards too. This kingdom can’t have its King and Queen wandering around without security,” my father says with urgency, we don’t want another Circe situation to arise.
I take a deep breath and scrub my hands down my face, “I promise to start looking into candidates first thing tomorrow. I can’t imagine anyone who will come close to being as capable as Andromeda and Cole were, but I know it’s necessary.”
My mother squeezes my arm, “You’re not replacing them, Bastian, you’re simply filling new positions. Andromeda and Cole protected the Prince, now you need people to protect a King, but I understand how you feel. They were so honoured and overjoyed to know one day they would serve you as their King,” she says with tears in her eyes.
I swallow down the lump in my throat and lean my head back trying to force the tears back as my heart aches at the memory of my dear friends.
“Sebastian, what’s wrong?” Lemuel’s panicked voice asks, filling my mind with its calming tone.
“Just discussing a sad topic with my parents. It’s alright, I promise,” I assure him.
He’s silent for a moment, probably assessing if that’s true. “Okay. I’ll be arriving wherever you are soon.”
“Lemuel will be arriving soon, so it’s time you both jump ship. I can’t be starting to cry before my date, that is not a good look.”
My mother smiles warmly, “We’ll be off then. Have a wonderful evening and give Lemuel my love,” she says, kissing my cheek.
My father walks over and pulls me into a tight hug that I happily return, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
“Well, you wouldn’t have sex with a man, and I definitely intend to do that.”
My father whacks me up the back of the head, “Don’t be a smartass, you know what I meant.”
“Assaulting your King is a crime you know,” I remind him, sulking as I rub the back of my head.
He snorts, “Nice try,” he says, taking my mother’s hand as they water teleport back to the palace.
I smile and breathe in the salty sea air and listen to the tranquil sounds of the sea. Maybe this can be a regular thing for us. Escaping onto the yacht, even if we’re just anchored close to the island, it could still be our own little escape or home away from home. Hell, maybe we should just live on the yacht until our bedroom is finished. I hate being around all the paint fumes.
I quickly dash inside and look myself over in the bar mirror. Should be a crime to look this good, but then I’d be getting arrested on the daily. I’ve gone for white linen button-up pants, beige sandals and a fringe hem half-sleeve cardigan that hangs to my thighs. I decided to go with this instead of a shirt because I want my man to have an unobstructed view of my body.
I give my hair a final tussle and step back out onto the deck just as Lemuel appears in zaps of blue and purple electricity. I smile wide at the entrance as I admire my man. He looks perfectly delicious in fitted beige checkered pants, a white linen V-neck tee and a beige jacket which he has thrown over his shoulder. I just want to drink him up all night long. Water teleporting wasn’t getting any easier for him and I didn’t want him to constantly feel ill everyone we teleport, so I wished for him to be able to teleport, and he granted my wish. I’m now a bit envious. His teleportation looks so much cooler than mine. I just turn into water, big whoop.
“Why are you suddenly feeling envious?” He asks as his eyes rake over me, desire flaring inside him as he admires my body as I admire his.
I pout, “Your teleport is so much cooler than mine.”
He rolls his eyes, lays his jacket over a chair, and walks over to me and cups my face sending jolts of electricity through me. “You sound ridiculous,” he says placing his lips on mine in a soft yet deep kiss.
I moan into his kiss as I firmly grab his hips pulling him close. “Are you picking on me?”
“Little bit,” he teases while pecking my lips.
