Chapter 44 — A Prediction

Mitra's POV:

Mitra, I will tell you one thing. Remember it. If you trust a person, trust them completely. If you trust Dharma, trust him completely. If Jay tried molesting you to save you, maybe Dharma shot me to save me. Because he shot on the spot where it won't kill me. We need to trace out the mystery," he said, shocking me.

I didn't understand his words or Dharma. What do they mean? How can someone save a girl by molesting her and torturing her? How can Dharma save Dheer by shooting three bullets into his body?

"Mitra, seeing Dharma's love on Asha and guilt in his eyes while seeing at you and me today, I think he is in some struggle which he can't explain to anyone."

"Till now, I thought I couldn't understand Dharma's words, but now I can't understand you too. Whatever I am tired, I am sleeping. Mom said tomorrow we need to go to the temple. They will come directly to the temple."

"Temple? But why?"

"Mom prayed to God that she would visit the temple with us if you recover."

"I don't trust in God and don't like to come to the temple."

"Won't you come? But I said to mom that surely you will visit the temple if I ask. Can't you come for me?" I asked with a cute pout and hurt expression on my face.

I know well that he won't say no now.

"I will come. Now you sleep, my drama queen," he said, and I slept happily.

The next day, we went to the temple. Mom, dad, Dheer, and I prayed to God, and mom took us to the priest.

"Mitra, we didn't go to any astrologer till now before and after your wedding. This priest is a great astrologer. His prediction never goes wrong. I already gave Dheer's date of birth. You tell yours too, Mitra," Dad said to me.

"Dad, this is a waste of time. I don't believe all this," Dheer said seriously.

"Dheer, there is nothing wrong if we ask once about you both," mom said.

I gave my date of birth to the priest. He checked the zodiac signs of both of us.

"Tell me, Swamiji, when will my son and daughter-in-law gives us an heir?"

He closed his eyes and then told us.

"Within a month, your daughter-in-law will get conceived."

I felt very happy listening to that.

"But your son and daughter-in-law will get separated soon," the priest said, shocking us.

My eyes filled with tears.

"What do you mean? This is the reason I hate these predictions. Come on, Mitra, let's go home. No one can separate you from me," Dheer held my hand and took me home.

"Mitra, what is this? Why are you crying? Is it your habit to cry all the time? Oh, my sweet cry, baby," Dheer said and hugged me.

"I don't want to get separated from you. I love you so much," I said, hugging Dheer.

"I know it, baby. See, when we love each other truly, no one can separate us. I trust our love. Don't you?"

"I trust our love, but what about that prediction?"

"Mitra, they will say whatever they want. I don't trust those words. So you, too, forget those words. Today, I am joining my duties. Go and prepare breakfast for me. I am so hungry, baby," he said, pouting to divert me.

I went to prepare breakfast for him. But still, that priest's words started echoing in my ears. I didn't want to get separated from Dheer. I served food to him.

"Mitra, sit. You, too, have breakfast with me."

We both had breakfast. Dheer dropped me at the office. I went to my cabin.

"Madam, Assistant director is calling you," the office boy said to me.

I went to Assistant Director.

"Mitra, take your seat. Today I want to tell you a crucial thing. I know you may not believe it because it's related to your husband, Dheer."

"What is it, sir?"

He gave me a girl photo.

"Mitra, she is Poornima. She approached our channel to do justice for her."

"How is Dheer related to this?"

"That girl complained to us saying DCP Dheer cheated her. She has a child, and she said Dheer is his father."

"What are you talking, sir? It's fake. She is trying to blame my Dheer."

"Mitra, I can understand you. He is your husband. So you may not trust those words. But as a journalist, you should try to find out the truth. Find it yourself, Mitra. If it's wrong, you can remove the blame on your husband, or you can help that innocent girl."

"Ok, sir. I will find out the truth to prove my Dheer as innocent."

"Mitra, please keep it confidential. Don't say even to your husband till your inquiry completes. I hope that should be fake. Mitra, keep your feelings in control during your inquiry."

"Sure, sir," I said and came to my cabin.

In the evening, as usual, Dheer came to take me home from the office. I sat beside him.

"What happened to you, Mitra? Still, thinking about the words of the priest? Come on; you are educated. Stop trusting bullshit," he said, driving the vehicle.

"Nothing, Dheer, just work tension," I said, leaning on his shoulder.

We reached home, and I got fresh up and sat on the balcony. I felt Dheer patting on my shoulder.

"Coffee," he handed over a cup to me and sat beside me, drinking coffee.

"Your face is looking so dull. What happened to you, Mitra?"

"Dheer, I will ask you something. Will you answer the truth? Promise me first," I said.

"Promise, I never lie to you, Mitra."

"Dheer, for four years, you didn't find me. Didn't you like any girl in that period?"

I observed him clenching his fist.

"Dheer, I..."

He looked at me with a smile controlling his anger.

"It's ok, Mitra. But I never fall in love with any other girl than you. My heart got glued to this mesmerizing beauty," he said, and he got a call.

"I will just come."

Dheer went inside. I observed his face. He is talking very angrily with the person. He disconnected the call.

"I am going out. I have some work. I will come in the morning," Dheer said and went off without listening to me.

I followed him. He went to an apartment. A girl came out and hugged him, and he too responded. Both went inside. I came out from there and went to my room crying.
