Chapter 22 Chapter 22
Chapter 22 Chapter 22
Dominic had been planning this meeting for some time, to meet one of the mutated species, was rare, to meet one of the mutated species that every original species revered was almost unheard of, Dominic first learned of this particular species when he was still just a Beta in his old pack, that was nearly 50 years ago, a creature that was essentially a shifter but possessed other magical traits, some could control electricity, others could heal wounds just by looking at them, but Dominic was fascinated by one particular kind, the ones that could control the elements, one element in particular, fire, and what creature could shapeshift into a majestic animal while also being able to control the natural element of fire? Well a Firefox of course, but a Kitsune to be precise.
This Kitsune reached out to Dominic when she heard about Stacy’s transformation into a Hellhound, no other species had even taken on two entities before, as far as she knew and being that she was over 5000 years old, she knew a lot.
Dominic sat at the table adding sugar to the coffee that the waitress had brought to him on his arrival, he had never been to this diner before, it was located about three blocks down for the new Predtech building in the lower end of Westingdale, it’s so strange how three blocks can make such a difference. Where Predtech stands is a very up built area, office buildings with 30 floors were commonplace, but here where this diner sat, that was a different story, this area was old run down brownstone houses and converted apartment buildings, the type you see in the movies where the good cop has to track his crooked partner into the seedy underbelly of some great metropolitan city, but this was Westingdale, in comparison it was no bigger than a town, it had of course been ahead of its time due to the Panthers that lived here for centuries but it was still small scale, Dominic would wager that if it wasn’t for his Pack, no one would even know the name Westingdale.
“Dominic Kane?” The voice was soft and took Dominic by surprise.
As the Alpha Wolf looked up from his poor excuse for coffee his eyes landed on a woman, dressed form head to toe in black, a long flowing gypsy style skirt and close finning tank top, her hair was black too, almost cosmic with a blue tint, which parted to show her Asian skin tone, but even that was masked, she wore thick eyeliner and a dark purple lipstick, one eye had a scar just above it, it was a vicious thing, not caused by some accident, it was caused by violence, and claws. She wasn’t what Dominic was expecting, for her age he expected a little less Goth Teen and a little more Asian elegance, maybe she was the assistant? Or protégé?
“Hello,” Dominic paused to find the words, but he was cut short.
“I’m Okimi, we have been trading emails for some time.” Her voice again, it was too elegant for the person standing before him, it sounded old, and wise, but the visage was young and boastful.
“My apologies, I was expecting…” once again Dominic’s words were cut short.
“You were expecting an old crone? Maybe in a traditional Japanese Kimono? I am sorry to disappoint, I ditched the old ways a long time ago, I find it best to be who you are, not what others expect you to be.”
Dominic smiled and offered a seat to Okimi, once she was seated he began.
“As I’m sure you are aware, we accept any species, regardless of whether they are original or mutation, everyone is equal.”
“Does that include yourself, Alpha?” she spoke with a smile which told Dominic she was merely joking but he did feel the need to answer.
“I am below everyone, which is what a leader is, he helps pick everyone else up, not pull them behind him.”
“You have been pulled before, which is why you sought to start your own Pack, then you fell in love with a Panther and started a war, admittedly the war has not reached your door yet but it is coming, and unknowingly you are creating an army, an army of every Preternatural species on the planet.”
“I don’t seek out a fight, but I will happily defend what is right.” Dominic’s eyes flashed Wolf for a moment has his emotions on the matter grew close to the surface.
“Now I have the answer I wanted from you, I wanted to know if you were like most other Alphas, who led from the front and sidestepped to allow his Pack to become fodder, but you truly would take a bullet, knife or fang to protect your Pack.”
The two sat silent for a moment before Okimi spoke again.
“This is the part where you accept me into you pack.”
Dominic chuckled and smiled widely, “I like you.”
“I should hope so, I put on my best skirt for this meeting.” Okimi laughed and pulled out her cell phone, she quickly replied to a text message and shoved it back into the slung shoulder bag.
The two stood and exited the diner, Dominic led her to the waiting SUV where Micky was holding the rear passenger door open, the pair entered the vehicle and Micky closed the door behind them before entering the vehicle himself, silence was the game the whole way back to Westingdale house, only the odd glace was exchanged between the two, but no words needed to be said, Dominic knew she was a team player and she knew that Dominic would turn hell upside down to protect his Pack, what else needed to be said?
Micky applied the parking break and exited the vehicle only to be shoved aside by a she-wolf on a rampage, his back hit the door pillar and he cried out.
“Hey, Bitch, watch where you’re goin’.”
Stacy turned towards Micky and flashed her eyes at him, this would usually be enough but for good measure she sent a blast of dominant vibes crashing into him like a ton weight.
“Back off Micky,” She growled baring teeth and claws, but Micky was stupid so he stood to challenge her dominance.
“Look Stacy, I don’t know why you have your panties in a bunch today, but…”
Before he could finish his sentence he was on the floor, his head was pinned by her knee and a hand full of razor sharp claws were at his throat.
“I said, Back Off!” her words came from the Demon, hard and graveled, and most definitely conveying a threat to life.
Micky nodded and held up his hands in submission, to the onlookers he would now seem week, but to Dominic who felt the whole thing, he knew she was hurting, she was trying her hardest not to slit the Enforcer’s throat, he sent a psychic message to her, calming her, her eyes returned to the Icelandic blue and she stood, without a word she continued to the house.
“You ok?” Dominic asked as he held out a hand to lift Micky from the paved driveway.
“Yeah, crazy…”
“Don’t say it. She is going through hell right now,”
Micky took a deep breath and bowed his head, “The sooner she finds a new Mate, the better.”
Dominic grinned, “I do believe she already has.” He pointed to the gate where Kyle was storming after her, his clothes were torn from a fight and he had claiming on his mind.
“Oh, he is in for a shock.” Micky chuckled as he rubbed the bump on the back of his head.
“I think we all are, may want to wear hearing protection tonight Micky, your room is next to hers after all.”
Dominic led Okimi into the house as Micky slammed the door to the SUV, his frustration was still close to the surface as his claws crimped the bodywork leaving four distinct dents.
