CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY

AMELIA'S POV

I sat right there on the floor, with my knees to my chin. I could barely move after I saw Mark that was literally a giant when compared to me, fall to the ground, lifeless. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I could barely go back to my own room, and I could barely even look at Alpha Derek.

I had no idea what Mark was about to stab his brother with, but I knew it couldn't be good. I just didn't know that it was going to be capable of killing him. But that was just the law of Karma right? I managed to peek at Derek throughout the night, and he never took his eyes off me as well. It was almost like he was telling me thank you without really saying anything. He was obviously grateful that I was there. It was just sad that there was so much that he didn't know yet. Because if he did know, then I'm sure he would have gotten up from the bed without me even saying a word more. He would get up to see his child. But I wasn't in the place to do that.

I watched how the rays of the sun slowly creeped into the room. Derek didn't sleep, and so did I. Mark was the only one stuck in a deep slumber where he could never wake up. I didn't know if it would have been right to even try doing anything like getting rid of the body. It just felt like it wasn't so necessary. I didn't care what they were going to do to me afterwards. I knew that a few people were definitely going to say that I already had some kind of affection towards Alpha Derek. And I honestly didn't care. All I did was self defence. I knew that I was definitely going to have Violet on my side either ways. She was always going to be with me. Definitely.

I heard footsteps around the door, but no one really walked in, and I couldn't seem to get up. It was probably at mid-day that the door was flung open in anger. I forced myself to look into the cold eyes of Anna. She was looking at me too. I could tell that she was about to ask me what I was doing in Alpha Derek's room. But then, her eyes drifted down, landing on Marks body. Her eyes were stuck on the injection. She looked back at me, and I waited for her to scream, and ask why I did that.

But she didn't. The only thing she did was scream.

She screamed so loud that even my own ears started to hurt. It didn't take time for maids to start trooping into the chamber.

“What happened?” They asked, and when none of us answered, they just looked at the hefty man on the floor, putting two and two together.

“Someone should go and call Alpha Logan!” One of them screamed.

I was supposed to be panicking, but I could barely even blink. Derek, who didn't sleep the whole night as well, looked like he was waiting for someone to walk in through those doors as well. I felt so bad for him, but I couldn't even tell him.

It didn't take two minutes before Alpha Logan came rushing into the room. I didn't know what or how they told him, but it was able to get his attention. His attention first went to Mark, and then me. He hurried to touch Mark, shaking him.

“He's cold,” he said, and I didn't know if he was announcing or not. “What did you do to him?” He asked, and I was speechless.

“I said what did you do to him?!” He screamed even louder this time. I flinched, forced to talk. He gave one look to all the maids, and they were out of the room in seconds. He looked back at me. The only person that remained in the room with us was Anna. She was still in shock. I didn't know what was shocking her.

The fact that her mate had died. Or the fact that Mark had died. Or the fact that somebody died.

I didn't even know if I wanted to know.

“He tried killing Derek with the injection,” I said, pointing at the empty injection that now laid on the floor. “I came in on time, and… we got into a little struggle. I ended up stabbing it into his throat.”

Alpha Logan was speechless for a few seconds. But then he got up, yanking me by my hair as he made me stand up. He sent a slap across my face that stung like hell.

“How dare you kill my child?!” He screamed, dragging me outside the room. I was thankful that he was just going to throw me out, but I was so wrong. He led me outside instead, through the courtyard. Even the maids who hadn't heard of the news yet, watched everything that was going on.

He finally stopped, as he threw me into the hall of Council Elders. I looked outside for just a second, and saw that Anna was following us. And Vivian was staring at me with a frown on her face.

This time, I couldn't even stop the tears that flowed from my eyes.
“What happened?” One of the Elders asked, standing up immediately.

“She had killed my child,” Alpha Logan said. I was sure that I hadn't ever seen him that angry.

“Which of them?” They asked. “Derek?”

“Mark,” he answered stiffly.

They looked at me, asking me to explain what happened. I opened my mouth, trying not to cry as I explained how I heard the noise around the hall that caught my attention. I didn't forget to mention how I had been guiding Derek's room all because of the incident that happened with Anna. I didn't even care that she was right there with us.

I explained how the whole thing with the injection happened, and how he ended up dead. Even Alpha Logan seemed shocked by the time I was done.

The Elders took a minute to regain composure.

“So what do you expect us to do with her?” They asked, and Alpha Logan frowned.

“She killed my child. She's supposed to get a punishment!”

“And your child was about to kill his brother. We know that you wouldn't have let us touch him if that happened.”

“And she doesn't deserve any punishment in this case,” I heard Vivian's voice say from outside, and all eyes were on her. “We all know how dangerous Mark had been. And the beef that he had with his brother this whole time. So Amelia would definitely have done that out of self defence. If not, what was Mark doing in the room? Leaving his wife in bed?”

The Elders nodded their heads, and Alpha Logan shook his own head.

“Until someone else comes and supports her, I would be making sure that she gets killed in the same way my child was killed by her.”

“I believe Amelia,” another voice came from behind, forcing me to turn. I was shocked to see Anna, who had her eyes fixed on the Elders. Alpha Logan was genuinely shocked.

“You don't want your husband getting justice?” He asked, and she shook her head.

“He was never my husband. He was just a man who took advantage of me.”

Anna looked over at Vivian with a small smile that Vivian did not return.

“Please, Amelia get back to doing what you're supposed to do. The only punishment we can give for not speaking up earlier, is that you get to join in on the decoration of the pack for his mourning party.”

I frowned. “There's a mourning party?”

“He is… was a royal. So yes.”

I nodded, as I got up, and walked past Alpha Logan. I looked around for Vivian, wanting to thank her for standing up for me like that. But once again, she was missing.

“Amelia,” I heard Anna call out, but I totally ignored her. I wasn't in the mood to speak. In fact, I didn't feel the same.
