CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SEVEN

LOGAN’S POV
The sun was peeking into the room, with the rays right on my face. The knock on the door was the actual thing that had woken me up. I frowned as I got up, pushing one of my pet’s legs away from me. The joy on their faces when I asked them to come with me to the room was indescribable. I knew that after so long, they were finally feeling useful. It had been so long since I even did as much as look at her. I understood how they were feeling. And honestly, I couldn’t blame them.
I couldn’t describe how I was feeling either. It was almost like I was sure that I had Vivian on a leash. The way she had just bowed and went straight to her room was something that I didn’t think was ever going to happen again. And yet, it did. Even Mark was shocked when it happened the night before. I was sure to put the guards at the door before he came, asking me any kind of stupid questions. All he wanted was the pack, and I wasn’t sure I could hand it over to him just yet.
I tied my robe properly, as I turned the knob of the door. I was shocked to see the guards at the door. They were the last set of people that I wanted to see at the door.
“What can I do for you?” I asked, and they looked amongst each other. “Actually, Alpha. There are a few people at the gates that need to see you.”
I frowned. I didn’t remember trying to call anybody over. “Did they tell you what they came for?” I asked, and she shook their heads.
“All they said was that they needed your help.”
I frowned. In this district, I was known for being the most ruthless. And yet someone came to me for help? How stupid could they be?
I asked them to leave anyway, and give me time to put on proper clothes. As soon as they left, I woke the women that were in the room, and ordered them to leave. I had my bath, and put on proper robes before heading out of the palace.
I got to the gates, and spotted the four men that were kneeling there, right in front of the guards looking like the most miserable set of people I had seen in a long time.
“What are they doing here?” I asked, and the guards turned to face me again.
“They said they needed help, Alpha.”
“Help with what?” I asked the men as I turned to face them.”
The first one spoke for all of them. “Alpha, we were part of Kyroshi pack that you had raided about a year ago. We managed to flee. But now, we have nowhere to go. And no pack is willing to take up in. We deeply regret running away, and would like to join the rest of your pack members here.”
I narrowed my eyes at them. I remembered the Kyroshi pack. In fact, they were more than half the population of the people that I currently had in the pack. There was no way I was going to refuse four more men that seemed more able bodied than anything. They were definitely going to play a part when it came to pack fights.
“Do you know the punishments that we have for people that run away from packs like mine?” I asked, and the four of them shook their heads. That alone made me smile.
“The guards will tell you.”
Even my guards were more than happy to tell them. I knew the kind of joy that they derived from things like that.
“Boiling your legs in hot water for ten minutes.”
The men’s eyes had widened, but they nodded their heads in agreement. I was stunned, but I didn’t want to show it. Men like that always ran away. But for some reason, they had agreed. They must have been really lacking homes. The smell coming from them settled it all.
“Put the water to boil,” I said, heading upstairs, to the terrace. The one place where I loved watching when things like this took place.
I watched as the guards got to work, and the men were starting to look unsure. I waited for them to back out any minute, but they didn’t. they managed to stay there until the water was properly boiled.
They were hoisted up the high chair, and slowly lowered until their legs were lowered into the pot of boiling water.
Their screams were like music to my ears. I watched as every one came out one by one from their rooms, coming to see what was going on. Amelia was out of her room in seconds as well. This was something that she was used to seeing anyway. She watched with even more keen interest than she usually did.
“I got this for you, Alpha,” a voice said beside me, making me turn. I spotted Anna there, with a tray of juice. I looked her over, before taking the juice from her and placing it on the table beside me. She was about to walk away when I called her back.
“Have you cleaned Derek up?” I asked, and she shook her head, after she froze.
“Come here,” I beckoned, and I saw her legs shake as she took steps towards me. She was barely even close to me when I slammed her head against the wall. She screamed in pain, with tears streaming down her face. It got even worse when I grabbed her hair and yanked it back, making her scream even more.
The blood that flowed from her forehead gave me some sort of peace. I noticed the deep cut that was on her forehead. At least that would make her never forget when she looked into the mirror.
“Leave!” I ordered, and she turned on her heel, quickly running away before I could even say a word more.
“Ten minutes is up, Alpha Logan!” one of the guard hollered and I gave him the wave of a finger. He quickly brought the men and their freshly boiled feet to the floor. They could barely even stand up after all that.
I had missed all the drama and screaming all because of Anna. I was slight unimpressed, but I had to make do.
I looked downstairs again. But this time, instead of Anna, it was Vivian there, staring right at me.
