Chapter 82: Pregnancy Test?

Morning came, and Amy woke up to find Zack no longer beside her. She got up, but as she stood, dizziness hit her suddenly, and she instinctively held her head for support.

Right on cue, Zack entered the room, just stepping out of the bathroom. “Hon, are you okay?” he asked with concern, rushing to her side. Amy turned to him and managed a faint smile. “Yeah, I guess I just overslept,” she replied.

“Are you sure?” Zack asked again, his worry evident as he moved closer, taking her arm to help her sit down.

“I’m sure, hon. Don’t worry,” Amy reassured him, though deep down, an uneasy feeling gnawed at her. She rarely felt dizzy, so this was unusual.

“I think you need to get checked. I don’t want us ignoring this, Amy,” Zack insisted, gently wiping the sweat from her forehead.

Amy smiled at his attentiveness. “Don’t overreact, Zack. This is normal—maybe it’s just stress or hunger,” she said, though another strange sensation stirred in her stomach.

Zack couldn’t hold back any longer. “Hon, please. If you don’t want a check-up, at least take a pregnancy test,” he urged seriously.

Amy froze in place. A pregnancy test? The thought hadn’t even crossed her mind. She began to wonder—could it really be?

“Pregnancy test?” she echoed, disbelief in her voice.

Zack nodded. “Yes, hon. You know, lately, I’ve noticed some changes in you—falling asleep often, and now dizziness. Maybe… we’re having another baby,” Zack said, his excitement barely contained.

Amy frowned, unsure how to process the possibility. But despite her anxiety, a small part of her felt a flicker of excitement too.

“Alright, Zack. We’ll buy a test later,” she finally agreed.

“No need to wait. I bought one yesterday,” Zack revealed, pulling a small paper bag from the bedside table.

Amy swallowed hard, realizing there was no way out of this now. “You mean… now, hon?” she asked nervously.

“Now,” Zack affirmed, his determination clear. “If it’s positive, I want to be the first to know.”

Zack took her hand and looked at her with so much love. “Whatever the result, hon, I’m here for you. I love you so much.”

Amy smiled and stood up, clutching the pregnancy test as she headed to the bathroom. Zack remained outside, pacing nervously.

Minutes felt like hours before Amy emerged, the test trembling in her hands.

“Hon?” Zack asked, his face a mixture of nerves and anticipation.

Amy nodded, tears welling in her eyes. “Zack… it’s positive.”

A huge smile broke across Zack’s face as he jumped up and hugged Amy tightly. “Hon, we’re having another baby!” he exclaimed, barely able to contain his joy.

Tears streamed down Amy’s face, overwhelmed by emotions. She hadn’t expected this news, but Zack’s reaction seemed to wash away all her fears. “Zack… I don’t even know what to say. Everything feels so fast.”

Zack cupped her face and looked straight into her eyes. “Hon, I might not have planned this, but I’m beyond happy. I love you and our family so much. I’ll do anything for you,” he said with unwavering assurance.

Amy hugged him tightly. “Thank you, Zack. I know this won’t be easy, but I’m also happy to face this new chapter with you.”

Zack placed his hand gently on her stomach and smiled. “Hi, baby. It’s me, Daddy. We haven’t met you yet, but your mommy and I already love you so much,” he whispered, tenderly stroking her belly.

Amy chuckled at his sweetness. “Starting the sweet talk already, huh?” she teased, her eyes still glistening with tears.

“This is just the beginning, hon. I’ll make sure our family stays happy and complete. I’ll do everything for you,” Zack promised sincerely.

The next day, Zack couldn’t contain his excitement and shared the good news with their family. Zack’s and Amy’s parents rushed over to their house to celebrate and show their support.

“Another grandchild on the way!” Zack’s mom exclaimed, hugging Amy tightly. “Amy, you’re such a blessing to our family.”

Amy glanced at Zack, who was grinning ear to ear while talking to her dad. She knew the journey ahead wouldn’t be easy, but she also knew they could face anything together.

As joy filled their home, Amy caught herself wondering what their lives would be like once the baby arrived. Yet amidst the questions, one thing was certain: she was ready to embrace this new challenge with Zack, the man who was willing to do everything for her and their family.

While the family chatted happily in the living room, Amy noticed Zack’s extra attentiveness. She couldn’t believe how ecstatic he was, his smile never fading since that morning.

“Hon, aren’t you a bit too excited? We still have nine months to go,” Amy teased, laughing at Zack, who couldn’t stop fussing over her.

Zack smiled and walked over to her. “So what, hon? I just want to make sure you’re comfortable every second,” he said, gently caressing her belly. “You’re carrying a miracle, and I’ll do everything to make you both happy.”

Amy smiled and teared up again, overwhelmed by emotions. “I’m so lucky to have you, Zack. Thank you.”

Zack’s mom chimed in. “Amy, dear, let him be. He was just as excited with Josh and Aliah. He’s like a kid!”

Amy laughed and nodded. “Yes, Mama. I don’t think I have a choice but to let him.”

In the days that followed, Zack busied himself with preparations. From picking out healthy meals, buying new maternity clothes, and scheduling check-ups with Dr. Quen, he didn’t miss a single detail.

“Zack, we don’t need a new baby room just yet,” Amy said, laughing as she saw Zack seemingly designing a new nursery.

“Hon, we need this. I want everything to be perfect when the baby arrives,” Zack replied, focused on his plans.

“You’re ignoring me now; it’s all about the baby,” Amy teased, pouting.

Zack stopped what he was doing and went to her. “You’re wrong. You and the baby are my whole world. I can’t neglect either of you,” he said, kissing her forehead.

One evening, as they lay in bed, Amy voiced her concerns. “Hon, do you think we’ll be okay? It feels like so much is happening again.”

Zack held her hand and looked her straight in the eyes. “Amy, no matter what comes our way, we’ll get through it. We’re not just husband and wife—we’re a team. And as long as we’re together, there’s nothing we can’t handle.”

Amy smiled and hugged Zack tightly. She knew challenges lay ahead, but in that moment, one thing mattered most: their love for each other and the hope their new baby brought into their lives.
